  • A home in the 2000 block of East 12th Street in Kansas City, Missouri, is in the middle of what used to be the heart of Black Kansas City. Gene Willis with United Inner-City Services gave 41 Action News Anchor Kevin Holmes a tour of the worn-down home and discussed its history.

    Historical homes are priceless. They are part of the history of this nation. How sad the house is not restored and open to visit to educate people about her story that is part of the history of America.

    Do her descendants still have the money if not who cares. Black people need to learn and teach our children how to keep their wealth.

      Nope, she lived a very comfortable life and gave lavish parties where people like Duke Ellington and Count Basie attended. She passed in 1967.
