Some people are confused/misunderstanding the 10th tip regarding PAPI lights. I have completed hundreds of landings to understand the best approach when using PAPI lights in PTFS. In both 3rd person (gear view) and 1st person (cockpit view) views, they both work similarly. For long finals, you should aim for 2 red and 2 white lights. For short finals, you need to have 3 red & 1 white lights, or 2 red and 2 white lights (though the 2 red and 2 white configuration might not always be a good option for some airports). When you are just a few seconds from touchdown, you should aim for 4 red and 0 white OR 3 red and 1 white lights (if you do 2 red & 2 white then, 99% of the time you won't have a smooth touchdown and land on the touchdown zone). It's also important to remember that not every runway is equipped with PAPI lights, and even some runways may have (slightly) different PAPI light systems. Hope this helps
IRL those lights are called ILS (instrument landing system) they auxiliate in the landing as you said, the more red lights you have the lower your trajectory is from the optimal touchdown point, the more white lights the higher you are, usually it's recommended to have them half white, half red. Although it usually results in late touchdowns is usually the safest option, but the tactic you used is very valid when you want a nice butter with extra room for safety.
hey anx!! you probably don't remember me, but it's me Cobain! The guy who private chatted you on Ptfs development 🔥🔥 Tysm for replying to me back My dream came true 🔛🔝
I never use camera lock for landing or anything in general besides performing barrel rolls and stuff. I find flying more fun when you can see your plane from any view you want. Also, landing is just fine for me without camera lock.
Heres another tip (optional) if you struggle with landing and your back landing gear keeps floating up when you pull nose down, go to settings and enable the legacy handing option
3:56 I agree but you can still use the A330 cause ya know idk if this is true or not but in my opinion. A330 king of buttering. Edit: I forgot to add but I sometimes don't use papi lights
Yeah, but bellow 400-300ft it doesn't really matter because they loose accuracy as you get near to them so at 400-300ft and bellow you really should look more on how you see the runway
you're wrong about the papis. don't expect the papis system to work just like how it is in real life because it isn't the exact same, i've done thousands of landings in PTFS and i can assure you 2 reds & 2 whites will make it nearly impossible to have a smooth & on the touchdown zone landing
@@anxiies and did you know that PAPI lights in PTFS actually DO work like the ones irl? Because in real life, when you get bellow 400-300ft you should really focus more on how the runway looks to determine if you're on glideslope, high, too high, low or too low, this because as you approach the runway something happens and the PAPI lights start to loose accuracy
Hey Anx! I met you today, I was the fake orange saying “I’m ril oringe” just wanted to say tysm for the screen shots i appreciate it , best of luck! - the ril oringe
For the papi lights, you should always have 2 red 2 white, if you need to go 3 red for short final that means you aren’t flaring properly, papis are to keep you on the glideslope, not go under it
if im not good at flaring then why did i win 10 landing competitions in the past year by using the exact same tactic?? and if your tactic is “better” than mine then upload a video of u using it
@ oh my god that’s so impressive winning a Roblox competition in an unrealistic game being judged by 7 year olds, props to you. Also, if you have common sense and research you’ll see you’re supposed to be 2 red 2 white the whole time and just flare properly. I’m sorry but you won’t win this I have my PPL and my dad is an airline pilot
@@PzKpfwVITigerIdepends what aircraft, but typically in PTFS if you're going 300 kts+ and push the nose down and back up to pick up airspeed, you usually can glide for a bit more, but yes, it should be improved

@@anxiies yeah you're right, in PTFS 2 red and 2 white papis are great until you're on short final where, if you're going for a smooth landing and you keep the 2r2w glideslope, you're going to land halfway down the runway. In real lifem I agree hard but early is better however, this is PTFS and everyone wants a butter landing and that means a lot of floating

something i have learned is to not use 100% thrust for takeoffs, as it makes the plane shoot up like a rocket, which isn't super realistic
