Thank you for watching this week's episode! Would you cop the Beverley Johnstons? Let me know in the comments below! And thank you so much for supporting the previous episode about learning Bach in one hour - I didn't think it was going to get as many views as it has now (thanks TH-cam for recommending correctly this time ahahaha)! As always, if you want to see something on the show please let me know in the comments below :) #TheStudioFamily
Are we just going to ignore the beautiful "Super Smash Bros." reference at about 12:35? Nice one, Adam. These are the little gags, jokes and memes I am subscribed for! ;)
Adam, when you are doing the front ensemble series test, try mixing those with the Beverley Johnston series. I had the feeling that there's an overlap in their hardness and it can create an actually pretty good set of mixmatch
Great review as always! Is it just me or do the hard BJR1s (9:33 in the video) sound more like medium mallets and the medium BJB2s (10:20 in the video) sound more like hard mallets in the video? The BJB2s definitely have more attack to them than the R1s.
As I continue listening, the BJR1s at 11:07 definitely sound hard. (I'm guessing this isn't a duplicate test of the same pair - perhaps the titles at 9:33 were incorrect?)
YOU ARE RIGHT! My premiere project swapped the titles sorry about that -_- lately my projects have been doing this a lot which annoys me haha but yes the first sound test was the soft one!
@@BynasfDoing great! They sound great on vibes and good for high end marimba- wouldnt use for the low end. Not much fraying- typical marimba one quality
That's awesome man! 7th grade!! I hope my students can play that soon haha. I only got into it lots when I was around 20-21 years old, before that I was really bad at playing haha
How do they actually compare to the wave wraps though? I have a friend with wave wraps and liked how they feel a lot and their bounce but the price is a little high so I was looking at these as an alternative since they also feature wave wrap technology.
In the text on the screen it never said that you were testing the 3's. Idk if the video had the sound test for the 3's but I can't tell which malls are which to be honest.
I forgot to say it 😰 funny story, I actually retook that VIP part 5 times or so and this was the last one, and I thought I'd gotten all the names right HAHA
@@AdamTanPercussion i used abe mallets,i think wave wrap are more comfortable. And i prefer the sound of wave wrap. But the price is more expensive ,which is the biggest disadvantage of wave wrap for me.

Mick Berkelmans Ahahaha as you can tell I’m a huge fan... thanks for picking it up 😂
Thanks for the video Adam! I’m always looking for new and interesting mallet options :)
Thanks for watching!!
I make the best sticks for marimbas and vibraphones in all of South America.
For some reason I liked the vibe mallets on the marimba
I kinda like the articulation in these mallets, seems like they'd fit very well for more contemporary pieces or technical etudes.
Like the don’t stop me now cover
Resta Jay, Jean Geoffroy's please!!🙏🙏

@@scottreder I do believe the titles might be incorrect.
Yeah I think at 9:33 it’s supposed to say BJB3
Will Sewell Agreed - and as Adam said, these are definitely articulate mallets when the soft sounds fairly medium and so on.

Was that the smash ultimate theme at 12:36
You got it ;)
Just ordered the vibe model today. Can't wait for them to arrive
I know this was 4 years ago but how have they held up?

@@jean-marcjamois4370 really appreciate the answer, probably gonna pick up a pair
I played a cricket sang and set the sun for my 7th grade solo and ensemble, I did pretty good. How old were you when you got super into marimba?
That's awesome man! 7th grade!! I hope my students can play that soon haha. I only got into it lots when I was around 20-21 years old, before that I was really bad at playing haha
Adam Tan thanks to your top 10 marimba solos I am now playing restless by rich o’meara. Thanks for making these inspiring and helpful videos.
Also, have you ever participated in any wgi or dci things? I know you don’t live the us but I am just wondering.
Hey Adam, have you used these on vibraphone yet? Any thoughts?
I loved the don't stop me now. Do you have sheet music for that?
Ahaha noooo I just made it up! 😁
Comparison video between this series and the regular wave wraps?
How do they actually compare to the wave wraps though? I have a friend with wave wraps and liked how they feel a lot and their bounce but the price is a little high so I was looking at these as an alternative since they also feature wave wrap technology.
Marimba one circa forever😭😭😭
Oh yeeeeees
Can you do some reviews on budget xylophone mallets
Adam does dynamics so well I sob
Nice Review!
I didn't really like the Beverley Johnston's sound though.. I prefer other kinds of mallets ;)
That's true! I personally would not use this sound much either but it's nice to know it exists :)
In the text on the screen it never said that you were testing the 3's. Idk if the video had the sound test for the 3's but I can't tell which malls are which to be honest.
why didnt you say mallet lab?
I forgot to say it 😰 funny story, I actually retook that VIP part 5 times or so and this was the last one, and I thought I'd gotten all the names right HAHA
Adam should make a graduated set of his favorite m-1 mallets
$49+ for the mallets, you're welcome
Do Virtouso series
Does anyone recommend the 2s for 2 mallet solos? Waiting on the wave wraps for a while and I already have the ROund sounds
Not gonna lie, but these mallets are a beast when you play Merlin
i just bought wave wrap last month😂
Nice!!!! What do you think?

@@AdamTanPercussion keiko abe😂
can we talk about greg harris. he’s so dedicated
