Blomkamp, from day one, always directed special effects with a simple concept in mind: Film them as if they're not even there. You focus on character, staging, storytelling. The eye candy is far more effective when you care about the plot first.

I totally love the worlds that Neil makes up for his movies! While there are some flaws with his movies? The world building he does makes up for that ,big time!
The concept of a "soldier" in this movie is pretty lame. These guys would have been shot in seconds by a regular SpecOps unit. Ignore fancy exoskeleton, aim straight to the head. Done. Nothing like this could happen with "District 9" exosuite, that was completely different story.
Ikr! Thinking same thing! I love the robotic touch he can bring to a movie! We need a zombie movie in da future with robotic technology to fight them & protect man/society!? Probably would make for an awesome movie for Blomcamp?
That was a whole short scene, not just a trailer! Looks interesting. I'm curious to see how well a fully CGI movie will do nowadays as I'm a big fan of the last attempt, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.
Wow the Graphics and everything, what you can do these days with the rite skillz and tools, I'd love to make something myself but us not so skilled really do enjoy your work.. Thanks from New Zealand
Nice flick - I would not mind watching something feature length just in the engine though some sweat on the skin textures would make it a bit more gritty and believable and also convey some sense of the environment.
1:44 This moment is really fun ))) Super soldier with fancy robotic body can be strangled ) Why didn't they put a reserve trachea with turbo acceleration somewhere near his butt.
Neill Blomkamp its the guy who made district 9 how that guy didn't picked up by some big company he got the talent its easier to make movies on low budget now i think he should make some movies on low budget like district 9
this guy is making south africans look good in the eyes of the sci-fi community , now im just waiting to see where he wormed Sharlto Copely into this new project .
This looks great! Just to be picky, though, this is a preview, not a trailer. A trailer is a preview that comes after a movie. ie. It trails after a movie, hence the name. It's also not in 4K. Despite TH-cam's claims, the platform doesn't currently support 4K (4096 x 2160). Their maximum resolution is UHD (3820 x 2160).
Even though everyone is saying UE5 is photoreal and metahumans are photoreal. This still looks like a videogame cutscene. Why is that. It used mocap and facial performance capture. Same way Avatar, Alita battle angel and planet of the apes used. But it still looks like a cutscene from call of duty. Sure, those need to be rendered in real time. But the fact that this video was prerendered makes it all the more odd that it still looks like a video game
It is just a good cinematic. The game will be a big shit like every time a studio wastes its time making beautiful videos rather than refining the development of the game.
While this is impressive, I am unsure about the sound. I do not think cyber limbs would make mechanical sounds as it is fairly easy to supress and very important to do so for this kind of work. Cyber limbs would also not make much noise when it impacts the floor, as they would use contact material padding, not only to reduce sound but because the sound of metal grinding hard surfaces means the metal is taking continous, low damage that will result in dramatically increase in wear and tear. I understand that the cyber limbs shown here might be low end or meant for industrial work, but the limbs would still be padded as that would be to important and cost reductive.

Beautifully articulated.
That was the district 9 approach and got me hooked on everything team blomkamp pumped out 😊
If there is one human on planet Earth that knows how to make sci-fi movies, it's Neill Effing Blomkamp! Love everything by this guy.
chappie and Elysium were garbage though. District 9 was epic.

Blomkamp has such a distinctive visual style.
Neil Blomkamp needs to be given many millions of dollars so he can start cranking out movies, shows, games, and universes.
Like Chappie, and District 9? Hopefully not Elysium though.
@@scubasteve3743 Elysium was not so fun. I was thinking more like Oats Studios.

So ducking true!
There was a time when Pong was the pinnacle of gaming technology. What games (like this) are now is a freaking miracle.
Neill Blomkamp

Funny, how many people shat on him for Chappie and Elysium.. sometimes it just takes time for some to really understand the artist..
Is this going to be a movie or a game movie or is it just going to be this? I would love to see this entire story

Would loved to see his Wetaworkshop halo movie. Not this gender-bender transnational Volvo bullshit.
I BELIEVE...Neil will be hearin those very words till he breathes his last.
Alex Garland's script for Blomkamp's Halo movie was tight too! It was too perfect for Microsoft.

Kill it? When it's out and is all microtransactions you'll see he literally has killed it.
Elysium vibes creeping through my spine.
It's a shame we will never see how his version of a Robocop movie would have been like.
And Alien!
I still lament the pre-mature death of the Blomkamp Halo.
Cinematic looks beautiful, but any gameplay?????????
This makes me wish he was still doing an Alien project.

Makes me think of the cinematics from the story mode of Call Of Duty: Black Ops III... but with Neill Blomkamp's mastery of direction.

Final Fantasy AND Beowolf.

Zero exposition. 5 mins. I know EXACTLY what the movie is about and what the situation was and is around this scene. THIS is how a story is created.

Neill Blomkamp should make the real Terminator 3 and Alien 3.
So is this a movie trailer, game trailer, or just a stand alone short?
Why do I get the feeling Neil stole a few thing from the Nintendo game Bionic Commando from the early 90's? Hmm? LOL! :)
