    Great deck profile! I like to play mine with Skill Drain and Pacifis for token control. Sea Stealth Attack makes it so the token can crash into anything and destroy it. Then the banish effect will protect my backrow and I'll spawn another token at the end of the chain when my opponent activates a card.
    @15:10 Ice Barrier can only activate when an attack is declared since it specifically says "when an attack is declared". Even though it is a stat modifier, card text always has priority over game mechanics.

      Thanks for the comment ! I have been wanting to try Pacifis but having a legendary ocean on board is so good to just NS Kairyu shin. Though, I do want to give it a try. As for skill drain, I know some builds run it, but I'd rather run other floodgates since I don't want to turn off Kairyu shin

    Last time a play umi deck is a levia dragon daedalus structure deck with deep sea orca.. how nostalgic.. too bad hard to play a old school deck in master duel.

    Would this be a deck worth running Ghost Reaper, since the extra deck is unused for us?

  • @driptcg

    Yes, you do have to run Warrior of Atlantis. For the Ulti FLEX 🤣😭

    Thoughts on running the ice jade monster that lets you make an easy synchro 10 to go into Chenying? Pair that with a little night and you can quick effect banish 3 of your opponents cards a turn.

  • @Thee9thAaroniero
    @Thee9thAaroniero ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Surprised you don’t play doom kraken or general Raiho (Raiho can be summoned for free by Whale)
    Good list, I think the monster count is just a little small 🥸

    You don't have any issues running a thin monster line up ? The shark engine in your previous builds opens up so much more of the deck an I haven't found the heart to drop them.

    • @puzzledwhale2376
      @puzzledwhale2376  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I forgot to talk about the shark version. Yes, it is explosive, but also has a higher chance of bricking. Not only that. It requires its own setup. I've actually just found more wins through the control version of the deck, but to each their own. The shark version is good as well ^^

    Have you tried a single copy of "fury of kairyu-shin" and a single " torrential tribute "? Called by the grave makes it so even if you draw torrential tribute, you can still pull off the protection effect with fury, and drawing torrential tribute is never really a total brick. I know a lot of people try to stick to 40 card decks for superficial statistics but the thing is that in practice, I've found decks with somewhere between 42-45 cards move better because you usually have multiple success avenues and don't have as many identical cards to get bricked with.
    I know the idea is to get Kairyu Shin on the field as fast as possible to act as a flood gate, but even with 15 cards in my deck being dedicated to getting those 2 things running, I still draw 3 sea stealth 2 some times (really passes me off when this happens).
    Final note. Not even considering an extra deck is bonkers. Icejade Gryn Aegerine is a "generic" synchro and insanely powerful, just requires a water tuner. My water tuner of choice is usually Ghost Sisted and Spooky Dogwood because she is a fantastic replacement for Ash blossom she might even be better in the coming meta because she forces the opponent to decide if they want to give you 40000 LP or stop summoning for the rest of the turn , but Icejade Ran Aegerine can Summon Gymir independently which then creates an additional layer of supertough protection for water monsters and there's a whole line of generic water tuners ascending from lv 4-10 that are super easy to make with this deck.

      Fantastic comment. Thank you for that.
      On your first point, I have tried out all the Umi spells and if there would be one to include it would actually be Fury + Torrential. They are a great combo and everything, but I usually find it unnecessary for the point that once you get your Kairyu-shin online, your opponent will more than likely only be able to have 1 monster on the board which would be of no threat to you more than half the time. So in my time in testing it has been very useless. I would also say that in my local meta TT is really bad because I have a lot of Tear/Unchained which is just really bad. TT is also a very going first trap so if I see it before Fury then i find myself hating it. I would have to dedicate at least 3 slots for it. 2 Fury + 1 TT because I believe the protection of fury is the main reason to run that.
      2nd point: Even though I Do not go over an extra deck in this version, does not mean I don't sometimes go in it. I haven't really seen Icejade Gryrn, but seems like a nifty card in some situations. of course, the water package (Bahamut + Toad) is recommened in the deck, but not needed because it invests too many resources, and I'd honestly rather have 2 Kairyu Shin on the board then just 1.

    • @amylutece8533
      @amylutece8533 ปีที่แล้ว

      @puzzledwhale2376 yeah I agree about the fury + tt thing, but it's a pretty good 3 card side (or 4 if you want the extra foolish goods) for those unexpected decks that run water monsters like tear or kashtira. That's also why I've started running at least 1 copy of gozen match, ODL doesn't totally lock down your opponent and I've found myself still not always finding a way to get them on the field every game, but a single copy of gozen makes it a lot more likely that I draw something which can at leadt slow the opponent down and it also works super well WITH ODL so if they have some 1 card combos or grave fusion they can still sorta pull something off unless you hold on to the gozen match, don't use it straight away on their draw and wait until they're mid combo with a card they really don't want to get stuck with then you flip gozen and either lock them into water or something else that they didn't want (this works really well on kashtira especially if you trap them with kashtira ogre, they can't go anywhere.)

    Have you ever tought about running any Warrior monster to get Fortress' last effect, or that rarely comes up?

    • @puzzledwhale2376
      @puzzledwhale2376  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not in the most competitive builds. There aren't any warrior monsters worth running that won't cause the deck to brick even more. This is a slow deck by nature requiring set up. Therefore you really don't want to add more inconsistencies to it.

    Why terraforming instead of a second warrior of Atlantis?

    • @puzzledwhale2376
      @puzzledwhale2376  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because they can Called by, or even have something like DDG. I just like the variety. Also, if you terraforming first, your OP will probably always let it go through because they don't know what you're playing.

    Holy crap! This deck is sooo much better in the TCG then it is MD! In MD we havewith terraforming, only 1 burial, 1 pot of p, and 2 tcboo. It sucks we have to run reasoning and its still an extremely bricky deck..

  • @dage2079

    Don't sleep on legendary fisherman 3
    It's easy to grab with ice barrier and foolish buried goods and searches it and Whale a d lastly there's a card so many sleep on crystal girl, she searches any level 5 higher water upon summon or special and can come bavk again from graveyard if you have any lvl 5 board for anither sesrch, meaning fisherman 2 then 3 (he is warrior but water) and he ends all games with ssa
    Instead of warrior of Atlantis I run 2 or 3 time tearing morganite for draws and 2 summons a turn, as this deck dosent need use hand traps it needs cards and summon
    Evenly match x 3
    Sometimes reasoning cause it's easyiesr way to mill and noone expects a lvl 5 so you can summon it easy and get the rest back with ssa 1 & 2
    Also summoning curse since deck dosent need to rely on extra deck besides pots for draw
    But Very rarely I run a icejade ran cause hard to get out once ocean is out but say it's out then you have to use a kairyushin or legendary fisherman and ran to make cause kairyu fisherman turns 4 and ran 6,
    Or you can make sword soul and loop ssa Tigger for his effect
    But that's if you use extra deck which is rare.
    The rest is typical fish sonar
    Pots of duality , extravagant and propensity
    Also 1 one raiho ice barrier card as protection , he forces opponent to discard every effect and if have no cards no effect bonus with summoning curse just eliminates.
    And dark ruler x 2
    2 super poly for mudragon if in pinch
    Lastly keep in mind you can swap out 1 legendary ocean as ssa also replaces it to use icejade field and kosmochlor if you want to just nerf effects and all have water synergy due to ssa
