Blancpain make beautiful watches and I feel they get overlooked, they're quality and movements are amazing, the Fifty Fathoms are some of my all time favorite divers.
It’s always great to hear the perspective from a watch maker. Love to hear Marc explain the design of the watch. And of course, a big thank to Alex for making it happen. Cheers.
That chrono is absolutely gorgeous!! To my eyes the best looking watch of the year so far. That subtle sunburst dial works very well with the faux patina and the overall vintage vibe
I fully agree! One of my favorites too! I will put the Glashütte Original video online in the next minutes and I am curious to read what you think about their new Diver ...
The reissue version of the Air Command is stunning! And very desirable, the propeller shaped winding rotor just seals the deal! I wish I could afford one, but alas...
Amazing quality and attention to detail with superb finishing by Blancpain as always! The 3 hands are long, especially the second hand which extends right to the end of the dial is the correct and most beautiful presentation for all other brands. Super smooth sweep of the second hand in a high beat movement.
Blueshirt Buddah Thank you for the positive feedback! Blancpain is a totally underestimated brand and this has not only disadvantages... 😎 For real connoisseurs!
Beautiful watches. Barracuda and Fifty Fathoms classic dive watches. Hard to decide which one to get. Lol! Seems more expensive than the Rolex Submariner. Nice review as always Alexander!
Stephen, please don't compare these watches with Rolex. Blancpain is an exclusive small manufacturer compared to Rolex manufactoring 1.000.000 watches per year...
We only filmed the presentation yesterday in the afternoon ... Thank you very much for your positive and kind feedback! I hope you like the Blancpain novelties...
I love the Air Command Flyback Chronograph, but why make it limited 500 pieces only? Why not have a regular production like fifty fathoms? I would probably never get to try it in store or buy one. I asked my local AD and he said a very slim chance he would be able to get one for me. They are probably all sold to Blancpain "frequent watch buyer" customers.
I expect that there will also come an unlimited version in a slightly different design to the markets after a while. I heard the demand for the watch is huge!!
@@WatchAdvisor Well I hope you are right and I will be the first one to buy it. I also hope that it would be priced a little more reasonably. I am not suggesting that this LE piece is overpriced but I think that pricing it a little more affordable will bring in more customers to Blancpain.
Honestly I don't know if the limited edition is completely sold out yet, but I assume it's the case... Go and contact Blancpain ADs and boutiques and tell them you want one. You never know... Good luck my friend!
Excellent! Another interesting spontaneous presentation. I really enjoy these. Thank you very much. Looking forward to watching the Omega and Breguet, right after this.
After buying the Ocean of Storms from Swatch collab, I immediately bought the pre-owned FF (2007 stainless steel model) in the jewelry watches store in Japan. Although it’s pre-owned and the bezel is kinda hard to turn (old watch I guess 😅) it’s still in good condition and I hope to pass it to my kids or my grandchildren one day. It motivates me to work harder to one day to buy its sibling, the 42 diameter one. I really fell in love with this brand and the FF
That’s a wonderful story, thanks for sharing! We keep our fingers crossed 🤞🏻 May meanwhile all your watches continue to always show you happy seconds, minutes and hours!
@@WatchAdvisorthank you for your reply Alex. Your channel is one of the best on YT regarding watches content and I love your enthusiasm toward watches 👍
WatchAdvisor Great - i got my AD confirmation that I would received mine this year (hope soon) was saving the money for the new Deepsea Blue but as I own already few SS models - wanted to go for an upgrade and something in the higher level. I’m lucky to receive it any time soon.
That's a very, very good decision! The Blancpain is loaded with lots of history and a watch you will for sure not find on many wrists compared to any Rolex. So the Barakuda is not only very cool but also rare and exclusive... Well done!
I find the Barakuda tribute watch really outstanding - even by Blancpain's high standards. The other watches here are all extremely good too. I don't know whether Alexander would agree, but I have the impression Blancpain's movements are on a similar level of quality and finishing as Patek Philippe or Lange - but they are also much more favourably priced! (BTW I think the Barakuda could become a collector's piece, seeing it is limited to 500...)
Jay, thanks for sharing your thoughts with us! Blancpain in fact delivers an outstanding quality. Not only with its movements, but in total. A Blancpain belongs to the best luxury-high-end-offers the Swiss Watch Industry has. There are of course differences in-between each brand and of course everyone will tend to point out what he thinks he does best. Starting a discussions at this level is almost academic... The Blancpain Barakuda Edition 2019 will definitely become a ticking icon. The limitation of 500 pieces was by far to small, Blancpain easily could have sold 1000 or more...
@@WatchAdvisor Yes, 500 is pretty low! But I guess that's also a good thing for people who have one. It's always very interesting to see the Blancpain limited editions. But now that they are no longer taking part at Baselworld, it isn't always 100% clear when they are going to be released - alas.
@@WatchAdvisor disturbing? I said silly. 7 may be a relevant depth, no doubt, but so are a great many things for divers and it's not something that hold any defining uniqueness to them or to anyone else. it comes off as a random tidbit of information put there only as a conversation starter by people who don't dive. the seal on the back was quite enough and tells of its provenance. the 7 cheapens it and makes it look like a dollar store souvenir
A Blancpain is not a mass product. A lot of operations are done by human beings and not machines ... The brand is cleary positioned in the so called Haute Horlogerie segment and clearly offers an undoubted quality in all aspects...
WatchAdvisor first; your presentation is exellent as always, thank you. As you mention a Blancpain is no mass product. But do you have any indication about how many watches they produce each year?
We did not film the Fifty Fathoms Titanium if you mean this one. The titanium watch was already released some months ago and I really wanted to concentrate on the novelties. But the Ref. 5015-12B30-B52A / 5015-12B30-NABA in fact is very cool watch, since it is very, very light for its size ...
Currently active in getting my Blancpain. I though I wanted a Bathyscaphe but recently I saw an Air Command. Anyway a Blancpain Rep in the New York Boutique thinks he might be able to get me one. Fingers crossed. But if not my drop back right now is the Bathyscaphe Flyback in the new Green color. But I change my mind daily as I look through their site. Still very much looking forward to your 2020 presentation even if it confuses me even more😊😊😊😊
I only realised on Wednesday a big release of new Swatch Group brands including Blancpain was imminent as I follow Wei Koh and Nick Foulkes. Very useful to see the Swiss CHF including Tax which I think is 5% prices. Classic watches at a very reasonable price considering they are the equal in finishing to Patek Philippe and inflated prices of another major brand’s GMT pilot watches only available on the Grey Market at a price range like this for an inferior product. I especially like the Blancpain Annual Calendar Fifty Fathoms and Bathyscaphes. I would buy with a bracelet and get a strap either usual sailcloth or these vulcanised rubber like AP Offshore. I also like the sporty Breguet Marine watches. The waterproof carrying cases supplied with Blancpain and Travel cases are another reason to get one. Unique to see the top people presenting the watches like your CEO series at SIHH. Both SIHH and Baselworld 2020 are now in May, so this is now going to be a busy month for new releases. There is a Blancpain Boutique in Geneva.
The tax in Switzerland is 7,7 %. Thank you for sharing your absolute reasonable thoughts with us! Next year will be terrible and these shows (Baselworld & SIHH) are much too late. I therefore expect Swatch Group to present its novelties already end of January, beginning of February...
WatchAdvisor thank you Alexander. It is useful to know the Sales Tax in Switzerland is 7.7% as when I ask retailers over Instagram, they never reply. If you visit Geneva to buy a watch I imagine the 7.7% should be deducted from what you pay and you pay your home Sales Tax VAT @ 20% in the UK upon arrival home. I really would like a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms and look forward to your video on Breguet, which have the sporty Marine line on rubber bands and in precious metal, like select Fifty Fathoms.
I love Blancpain for their minimalist look and high quality movements.
Thanks Alexander!
Emanuele you are welcome! Blancpain deserves much more attention and with such watches they get it. Well done Blancpain!!
I beleive you are the first one to break the new watches from Swatch Group. Thank you very very
Stay tuned and tell everyone about it... There is much more to come...
I believe so, at least on TH-cam anyway.

Great coverage of the Swatch Group’s new releases. The Air Command is fantastic piece! Too bad it’s a limited edition with a big price.
The chronograph is equipped with a 5 Hz (36.000 Hz) calibre showing the 1/10th of a second. The latter is pretty expensive to manufacture...
Thanks for the hardwork, appreciate it

What do the two sub dials of the new air command indicate?
It is a flyback chronograph with a 12 hours/30 minutes counter (sub dials) and a tachymeter scale ...
