Good review - going to get a test drive with a view to replace my Leon. Only one thing once you start looking at specs and prices, starts getting costly once you start specing to same as my Leon SE. E.g. DAB radio and LED lights. Guess your paying a for extra height!
I’m certainly leaning towards the Ateca and this video didn’t Put me off at all. But I haven’t yet studied the costs of the different engines n specs that I would want / need. I would not b at all surprised if the end figure was a very (very) long way from the ‘very reasonably priced entry model’ ...
Look behind the sharp lines though- no independent rear suspension, no 12v socket on the boot, dodgy cup holders, cheap carpet & parcel shelf material, higher specs only have gadgets you'd expect to have included, SAT NAV screen not great. It's a good car and does look sharp but it's NOT quite up there for comfort & quality as the actual VW's. VW know this and aren't stupid. Makes a sound lease option though, if you're on a budget but want bang 4 buck!
never got the thing with "soft plastic touch"... why on earth you need to be touching that plastic??? ok you touch once to check how it feels. then maybe touch a few times when you cleaning your car and that's it. unless you have some sexual desires in your car, then you need help...
On paper it’s the greenest on offer... re the diesel... errr... even new Diesel engines are 6 times more polluting than petrol. Time for car manufacturers to stop pushing them on us

Great car. And another own goal for the VW Group. Rarely makes any sense to go for the VW badged versions when the Skodas and SEATs are this good.
VW owns Seat and Skoda. Now who do you think makes the money?
The Tiguan is a lot like this car, but the Tiguan has more options, is more robust, has powerful engines and looks more expensive.

Don't you have the double floor in the boot as an option in britain? Solves the problem with long flat packages.

Similar, but the Kodiaq will be longer and will allow for seven seats, not sure if just as an option. The rear lights are very similar.

Kodiak is a bigger car, with 7 seats in option. Is something like Qashqai and X-Trail. Both are made in Czech Republic by Skoda.
Seat Ateca is the new Skoda Yeti. Both produced in Czech republic.
They both have square wheel arches too
