I bought this same car ! 1990 when I was 15. $4000 and was SUPER CLEAN. I still own it in 2023 @ 47 years old.
Drove to school in that car.
Went to my prom , and graduation. Drove off to college in it. First date with Wifey was in the car.
Drove TO AND AWAY from my WEDDING in the car.
24yrs ago!! BOTH GIRLS ARE STILL WITH ME !!!
The car is woven into the very fabric of my life. So many hours of wrenchin'. So many "upgrades " and $$$ Through the years.
Went from Hydraulics and Rollin' on 13" Daytons, to Fully Bagged ridin' on Dueces, to smaller rims , and Sunday Drives in San Diego....GARAGED when I'm not driving it. #IMPALALIFE

A rare car for sure! I had a 67 SS convertible, Butternut Yellow with a 327 and turbo 400 trans. That was the first year you could get that great transmission with a small block engine. Mine also had the factory AM-FM radio, running lights next to the headlights, and the rally wheels.

When we were drag racing back in the day, my friend had a FACTORY BUILT 1968 Biscayne with a 427 / 425 legit High Performance solid lifter , holley carb, rectangular huge port heads,4 bolt mains car...................This car in the video is nice, but , it is a "passenger car" 427. ....Most people back then did not want to put up with solid lifters on the "monster" 425 H.P. version (which was a LOT MORE than the advertised 425 H.P.) and with the High Performance 427 you could NOT get A/C because the rate of RPM climb would destroy the compressor.........Enjoy this beautifully restored SS casr. I wish it were mine !

Actually the optional bucket seats in the Caprice used a vinyl pattern of the more luxurious Caprice interior. The Impala SS used the less luxurious Impala vinyl seat pattern and that was appropriate to emphasize the SS's more sporting nature.

    A sweet car, very nice-from a non-fan of GM's.
Small town I grew up in there was a guy in his late 50's that ordered one of these '67, 427, 4-speed, fully optioned, triple blue, SS Impala convertibles. He had a fuel station so the car was seen daily because if it was open he was there.
He'd never been married, WW2 wound he'd never explain was his reason. Also in town was a elderly brother and sister that neither had ever married, lived together in the home they were born in. Every 2-3 years they'd order-checking all the boxes available-muscle cars. He bought MOPAR, she bought Impalas. She had a '67 427, 4-speed, optioned out, triple red, SS Impala hardtop. A friend always told the station owner he needed to hook up with the old maid, get married, and one of them sell him their car, he didn't care which.
None ever traded with the two local dealerships, Ford, GM, that were owned by the same guy. He'd been mayor at one time, long before I was old enough to pay attention, and a lot of that generation would not deal with him including my father and grandfather, our stuff always bought out of town too. We never knew when they were trading their factory muscle cars, so they never once ended up staying in town-I think they did that so they'd never see one get ragged out by a local yahoo.

Only 7 yrs old in '67, but even back then every car seemed magic to me.

Back in the day, all you had to do was tell Chevrolet which of its numerable engines you would like in your car, and Chevrolet would be more than happy to oblige. My brother had a factory ordered 1968 Chevy Nova with this 427 engine. It had a factory Muncie four speed with posi-traction and all the options imaginable. You can imagine the sleeper it was, with that 427 in a Nova!

Impossible. You couldn't get a 427 Nova from the factory. GM flat out refused to install the 427 in Nova's even through the COPO program. When Don Yenko built the 427 Yenko Nova's in 1969 he had to pull the factory 396 and install the 427 himself because GM refused to do it. In 69 the Camaro's and Chevelle's were shipped to him with the 427 already installed but not the Nova's. Biggest engine available in a Nova in 1968 and 69 was the 375 horse 396

Beautiful car... This isn't a "Z-24" SS427 but is an Impala SS with a 427. There were very few SS427 convertibles built and probably even fewer of these. I was once the proud owner of a '67 SS427 convertible and can tell you that these cars are faster than a car this big should be...

My parents bought a '67 SS that was special ordered but the buyer backed out. Basic 327 Turbo Fire with column shift auto / gold with black vinyl top and fender skirts with white bucket seats / interior, all power options including an am - fm - 8 track player - price was dirt cheap - less than $4k at the time.
My sisters and I went nuts listening to the same Lorne Greene - Ponderosa chevy demo tape that came with the car but have fond memories decades later.

Considering that they only made 453 Impala Super Sports in 1961 (because the SS was a mid year production option), and only 142 of those had 409's, and probably less than 100 were Super Sport 409 convertibles - I think a 1961 409 Super Sport convertible would be the rarest Impala..

You are probably right. The 65's with the 409 are really rare too because the 409 was phased out and replaced by the 396 mid year 1965. I'd love to have a 65 Biscayne 396/425 horse or even an early production 65 Biscayne with the 400 horse 409

This comment is for Ryan who wrote about some of the available options This car didn't have. Come on bro back in the day a 67 Impala Sport Coupe with 327 Powerglide power steering brakes an am radio with rear speaker and manual air conditioning listed for about $3875 was considered to be well equipped. Over 50% of buyers of new Fords and Chevys could not afford to opt for big engines, air conditioning and power accessories beyond steering and brakes.

Great Car. They are missing a few options though. My friend has a Black 1967 Impala SS Convertible 427 and in addition to the 4 regular power windows, his vent windows are power also. His also has a Factory mirror on the passenger side. Both side mirrors are remote adjustment. He says his cars was originally a test mule just as this one. It was originally going to be labelled Impala SS Limited because of the Supremely high amount of optional equipment. It also has an unheard of for 1967 4 speed automatic.

I learned to drive in my family's 1967 327 (automatic) Chevy Impala convertible and always thought the steering was purest shite--not tight or precise at all. And for the life of me I can't remember where the switch was for opening and closing the top. I just remember there were two clamps you had to undo at the windshield before hitting the switch--wherever it was, to open the roof. And then you had to physically clamp them down again once the top was closed. Our 327 also had a bench front seat, not buckets.

For Johnny Drums. Back in 67 I wrote Chevy in Detroit requesting brochures and price listings for their cars. The top radio options for Camaro, Chevelle, Chevrolet and the 'vette was an Am/Fm Stereo radio with an 8 track tape deck. Back in the day most options were individual offerings and not in packages. The cost of that unit was approximately $363.00. From what I remember this car as equipped probably stickered out at about $5300.00. The cost would even be higher if it had the 427 engine with 425 up and Comforton automatic a/c. This would catapult the cost of this car to the low end of the near luxury field. Chevy had the most extensive list of available options of the low priced 4 back in '67.

Since there is SO MUCH confusion about this car and the ‘427’, read this if you have questions about this car: ’67 Impalas with the special hood are ordered with option code Z24 which was the ‘SS427’ package. You could also order a regular Impala SS, with a 427. The ’SS427’ cars had the domed hood, no exterior ‘Impala' badging, and special ’SS’ badges for the grille and rear taillight panel. You could still order a regular Impala SS with a normal hood and badges with a 427, which is what this car, and mine, are. The production numbers were low, and about the same for both, about 2,200 for each. Hope that helps.

It doesn't have the front fender lamps, fiber optic lamp monitors or automatic a/c, tilt steering wheel , cruise control, it's missing some opitions. NOT fully loaded.

NEVER CARED MUCH FOR CONVERTIBLES BUT MY FATHER HAD THE FASTBACK WITH THE SAME ENGINE AND A STICK. IT SOUNDED LIKE THE BATMOBILE TO ME. SADLY IT WAS SOLD BEFORE I WAS OLD ENOUGH TO DRIVE.

That car would have been a match for any European luxury car of its day. In today's world No european car could match that.

I was under the impression that the 1967 Impala 427 had a “domed” hood?

Hi Don Sailing, I believe some do, and here is a link to a video of one I did with that "dome". Enjoy! Lou th-cam.com/video/XcvGGFFbQ1A/w-d-xo.html
