  • The bike market is more vibrant and full of innovation than ever before. The multitude of styles and philosophies to draw from when conceptualizing a frame all but ensures that there is a bike out there for everyone.
    I usually opt for a more “North American-style” practicality when it comes to mountain bikes-simple suspension designs, easy cable routing, utilitarian aesthetics. However, there is also the other side of the engineering spectrum available to enjoy: the busy, feature-packed, and tech-savvy envelope-pushing work of the team at Scott Sports. Look no further than the Scott Ransom 900, an incredibly techy bike designed to be the ultimate enduro machine, as an example of this approach to design.

    The suspension on this bike honestly blew my mind. This was the most impressed I've been with a suspension design in a minute. 🔥

      Until you ride a long descent on a very hot day, and the enclosed rear shock gets so hot that it stops functioning. Quite a common problem on the scotts with these dampers...

      @@johnsospencer Yeah, works fine on their XC bikes, but on the genius/ransom not so much. The air in the damper gets so hot that it stops rebounding. Not the best design...

      @@Doggepp This ransom has a piggyback. They changed it from the previous design.

    • @Doggepp
      @Doggepp 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@nicholashines7686 It having a piggyback doesnt make it any less enclosed. Probably works fine 95% of times. But if you go to the alps, and do 20-30-45min long descents, it will stop rebounding after a while. Its not the piggyback and the nitrogen/oil in the piggyback that is the issue, its the air.

    Man, I absolutely love your reviews. I’ve watched all of them since 2019. You know I would wonder if you were forced to decide to only pick one bike that you have reviewed what’s the one that stands out as the most fun bike?

      The reviewer is Spencer Astra. He's got his own channel too and rides a Pivot Firebird 👍

    • @SpencerAstraPOV
      @SpencerAstraPOV 24 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      There are so many good bikes. My personal bike is a Firebird as it is lightweight, efficient to pedal, has a shorter chain stays, and still has the 165mm of suspension. I could also see my self with an Evil Wreckoning, The new Hightower, Epic Evo, Stumpjumper EVO, and a Sentinel. But there are so many good bikes out there!

      @@SpencerAstraPOV I have owned 13 highend bikes in the last 4 years. I always find the good and bad with all. I am stuck on the Yeti SB140. Way more poppy than the SB160. I think its time to own multiple bikes. Just can't find 1 that satisfies all. I bought my swithblade after watching your review on it and you were 100% correct, THE POPPIEST bike I ever rode.

    Curious how Freehub decides what bikes get reviews. I'm sure this is a great bike, but I'll be somewhat surprised if I ever see one on the trail.

    I was a bit on the fence about the look of some new bikes including my own Jeckyll but Scott does a great job hiding the hardware for better or worse, I certainly wouldn't buy one the future doesn't look so bright.

    How would you compare this bike to the six bar Specialized Enduro?

  • @Doggepp
    @Doggepp 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

    I've had a few scotts, really like the quality, and how they ride, and look! But there are some issues with the enclosed suspension design. On long descents on hot days, the enclosed rear shock can get so hot that it just stops rebounding. No airflow at all, and it just sits and bakes inside the frame.
