It's just amazing. Every lessons are so simple and helpfully. I'm proud to find this channel. God give all back that you give to us. A warm hug from Bahia - Brazil
I have my own English channel for teaching the basic grammars to my community. It is for the beginners to help them know how to start but I do not teach them how to pronounce. I prefer finding the native speakers’ video, which I enjoy accent, to share them how to speak and pronounce correctly because I want them to be better in pronunciation and communication. Thank you for your nice video. I love it.
Thank you so much Emma for this brilliant explanation of voiced and unvoiced past tense pronunciation. Arab students encounter a real difficulty with the cluster sounds. For example, it is difficult to pronounce (asked) correctly with /t/ sound. They usually pronounce it as//askid/ Moreover, they pronounce the /k/ sound in the past tense /asked/. As a native speaker of English, you know /k/ sound is dropped in the past tense and as a result it should be pronounced as /a:st/ in British English. I would be very grateful if you could focus on such issues to help your students all over the world. Thanks again.
Rafiq, In reality, only handful native speakers pronounce the endings. They are usually elided and stress is used to hint that it's past tense. Even non-native speakers can feel that it's awkward to pronounce them in normal speech.
I am your subscriber since last year. You are very practical english teacher. And your lessons are useful for any english leaner to improve english knowladge. God bless you.
Emma!! You are the best teacher that I've found on TH-cam!! Oh!! How I'd like to understand native speaker such as I undertand you when you speak!!! Thank you so much!!!! I'd love to do english class on line with you!!!!!
I am your follower for almost a year and a half, I am just learning English now, your explanation is fine, with all subtitles that is better than previous videos for me, I am from PERU, thank you very much.
You double the consonant when the vowel before the consonant is stressed. Example: prefer becomes preferred. However, offer becomes offered with one /r/ because the /e/ before the /r/ isn’t stressed in the word ‘offer’
Thanks Emma, it was an incredible lesson, amazingly clear and easygoing. I am sure working on -"ed" pronunciation will help me sound more fluent and natural. I love the phonetic charts, pretty useful for everyone, specially for autodidacts like me. Once again thanks, I will be waiting for your next video.
Thank you for your guidance. I teach an ESL class at night at a local college. It's great to get support to help the students grow and become a true part of our community! Thank you : )
Your pronounciation is so clear and harmonious. Anyway, only a few native speaking English speak so perfectly as you. So grateful for your generous free lessons, Emma!
Hi Emma, I want to give you my congratulations for your channel and your videos to learn English more every day. I give you 10 points for your job. I love your Australian English accent, it is a great pleasure to hear your lessons because they allow you to understand the language very well, even though it is not my main lenguage but for me it's fascinating to learn it because every day the technology advances and English is becoming the language par excellence for any part of the world. God Bless You Always.
Hi Emma, I really enjoy your classes. A good way to know if the sound is voice or unvoice is put your hand in your throat and pronounce the simple past word. If you fell the vibration on the last part of the word it means the sound is voice and therefore the pronounce of ed is /d/ otherwise the sound is unvoice, so the pronunce is /t/. Thanks for spending your time with us.
I always had a confusion about the past tense pronunciation. This video help me a lot, thank for you sharing your knowledge. Now I must think more in past actions to improve my past talking.
I love your channel. I have shared your videos with my students in El Salvador. You are a great teacher! Thanks for creating such amazing content in TH-cam. 🥰
When I'm watching videos like these I understand everything, or at least more than 70%, but when I'm listening to people talking next to me, or to me, I have no idea what are they talking about... wth...
Yes. All of you are right. Listen native speakers are much more difficult than listen Emma. I am very disappointed with this frustration. Emma is a very good teacher.
I suppose there is a mistake in the video. 6:08 We double the last consonant if a verb ends in a vowel plus consonant. So rub + ed becomes rubbed. I,m not a native so I can be wrong :-)
As all of your videos are so interesting for English learners, MmmEnglish doesn't let me another choice than subscribing to the channel. I was so struggling with past participle verb pronunciation, now I know by heart the rules. That will make me more confident for sure. Thank you Emma
I'm new here but I instantly fell in love with the way you teach and speak. They are easy to understand, specially to a non-native english speaker such as myself. Could you also please make a video lesson about verb tenses? When and how to properly use them?
Thank you for your sharing English course . It's very useful for me as a non native speaker. I want to be English speaker like a native speaker. I followed and imitate your speaking, but I did not doing well. but I will try.....
I subscribed to you last year. I really like you because aside from your fantastic explanation, you replied to my question. I really thank you for that. Keep up the good work.
Hello Emma, I'm an ESL teacher from Quebec Canada. I'm a subscriber to your channel. I love what you do. For this particular video, I wish you had shown a list of the voiced consonant sounds at the end of the words instead of at the beginning as this is where their focus should be. I also saw that you wrote "rubed" as the past of rub. (6m07s). Keep up the good work.
Hi! I'm Spanish and I'm stuying English, I'm in level A3 and I'm learning that topic, I think it's difficult but your video helped me so much. Thank you! =)
Emma plz write down all whatever you speak below the screen as in conversation video with your friend!!!! It's gonna help me very much. And I have no words enough to admire you

There's lots of teachers on TH-cam.. so thank you for the huge compliment Lucas!!
Hello Emma. Great lessons! Note: Rub is one of those verbs that double their last consonant when conjugated. so rub becomes RUBBED.
You double the consonant when the vowel before the consonant is stressed. Example: prefer becomes preferred. However, offer becomes offered with one /r/ because the /e/ before the /r/ isn’t stressed in the word ‘offer’
Thank you very much, you are the most honest teacher❤ ❤emma❤
