• Mario Kart Retro Rewind was created by ZPL. It eventually will feature every track from all Mario Kart games and currently there are 168 tracks. This montage features all shortcuts I was aware of at the time making the video (except for the 100's of simple off-road shortcuts etc). 3 star shortcuts are the most useful to learn for online play.
○ The VR cap was raised from 9999 to 30,000. The servers are now on WiiLink and no NAND is required to play online for this mod.

Option 1:
○ The best option is to get Dolphin emulator and WheelWizard to install Retro Rewind.
○ WheelWizard application installs Retro Rewind, boots directly, auto updates and will display all open worldwide rooms (miis, names, VR, friend codes).

I started this project at the end of last year and never ended up finishing it but with the massive increase in people playing Retro Rewind the past few months, I became motivated to showcase all the amazing custom track shortcuts!
If you're interested in playing Retro Rewind, check description for all info! Most people play using emulator on PC but you can also use a Wii or Wii U since there's an auto-updater channel for all methods.

I was wondering why I saw the gold UI and the speedometer before version 6 of this mod came out. That Easter egg on SNES Choco Island blew my mind! 🤯 I know some ideas with some shortcuts now! 😅

Retro Rewind may be the greatest thing to happen to Mario Kart Wii
It's so good seeing so many people getting back into the game they loved as a kid
I've watched Troy for years but never could be bothered to set up it with a Wii. Now, being able to play easily with 8 friends at once on dolphin is almost surreal.

i miss when games used to have that kind of random stuff, like if you’ve ever played san francisco rush on the n64, there are tons of random easter egg areas in that game that really give you a sense of discovery

Yeah 200cc shortcut montage was how I got introduced to that song, I'm also happy to see that Troy still likes Touhou music as evidenced by the last song used. I normally don't like Touhou songs but there are some rare exceptions, and this is one and thanks to 2 of Troy's older vids, my favorite song of all time is a Touhou song.
