@@Dabridge4009I used to watch reaction videos but I can guess the outcome. When this song hit I was a little boy in Detroit but I remember the whole hood grooving to this song. That funky, fuzzy, electro sound counters against that flute was space age hood music with a heavy message from urban America. This song plus the Temptations, Papa Was a Rolling Stone were street novels set to music. Moreover, no neighborhood Detroit bands could play the song well. It is quite intricate and a bit difficult to get the timing right. The moment those opening notes hit your head don’t stop bopping until 20 seconds after the music stops. And i absolutely understand the memories, I didn’t want to ever think about Heroin, didn’t want to end up like Fred. Ps. @Dabridge4009 I got tons & tons of songs for you to react to many that I can guarantee some of your listing family might not know. Hell there have been a couple I've never heard of, and I know a lot of songs. The only reason I haven't emailed you is because I knew you were gonna be bombed with requests, but like I said before there are 365 days in a year. So in the future you know I'll be bugging you to react to my requests 😂💖✌️
Don’t be too hard on yourself for missing out on all these artist, and music. NOW IS YOUR TIME…. You appreciate it for what it was then and now. As u say “Peace, Love and Blessings….
Try out “Your So Good To Me” Mary J Blige sample it. Also “The Underground”. Not to mention some of his stuff from when he was with the Impressions back in the 60s. He was a hit making producer for many other artist as well.
Man, Im subscribed to numerous reaction channels, and some I enjoy more than others because of the profanity and bs. But I'm so glad I ran across your channel....I'm going on 59 and I swear I sense an old soul in you! 😅 Seriously, I love how you appreciate the music of my era and even the older stuff of the 60's. Thank you for creating a place where I can just chill and enjoy the classics that I grew up with. You're very well spoken and calm..dig that. Curtis Mayfield is a deep rabbit hole...go down that hole, the man is a musical genius! Definitely watch SupaFly and Claudine! Peace ✌🏾
Sister Soulserene....first you're welcome...but thank you for the compliments, support and encouragement...I appreciate you...Thanks again for watching and subscribing.....I love the 50's, 60's and 70's......timeless classic music....so much of it it's crazy...I won't disappoint you...❤
Don't be sorry Ms. Sharon....the hood will give you one thing and take another..I've learned that...Yours was very different from mine but like you said rough regardless.
You're absolutely right, my friend. YOU NEED THIS ENTIRE ALBUM! I picked up the deluxe 2 disc remaster a while back and it's a beautiful experience. He also wrote and produced the outstanding Claudine (Gladys Knight & The Pips) and Sparkle (Aretha Franklin) soundtracks. My one suggestion from this soundtrack is Gimme Your Love, actually featured in the movie Love Jones. Great stuff!
Hey Ms. Patti..I seen it as a a youngin...my mother loved that movie...but I need to watch it again now...to get the full understanding an affect of it...
Excellent commentary! Shout out to Mecca. I have a Niece named Mecca. Plus, this song reminds me of big brother who lost his life in 1975; his name was Freddie. But, yes that song does give off those vibes because that was the climate of the black community. The movie Superfly was a hit back in our time,; it's somewhat outdated now. Ron O'Neil R.I.P. played the lead. Still a must see for historical content.
Peace Jay..thank you for the shout...She said Peace to you as well....They're outdated classics that I still have to sit down and watch just for the hell of it....I've heard so much about them I gotta do it..Thanks again Jay...
Bruh, gotta check out the B-Boy classic Shaft in Africa off of the soundtrack . Whole lp is dope but also has the Four Tops joint “Are You Man Enough “ Opening up a can of worms here as there are tons of other break joints from groups like Black Heat,Soul Searchers, Jimmy Castor and others. Just starting the 70’s here, lol!
