This is a dream come true for me. I can’t believe Snorre is teaching us! Grymyrk is my favourite BM release EVER and I’ve been listening to it before bed every night for years. Whenever someone says “Bass isn’t important in BM” send them to Grymyrk for an education lesson.
This is a massive dream come true. For years everyone has been trying to master this. Now the master himself unveiled the blueprints to the true Norwegian sound. Its like the hidden treasure that everyone searches for and now we found it. Skål to the gods! Skål to snorre! Skål to blizzards!
Wow!!! This is not only a huge honor and a privilege but this is quite honestly one of the greatest things to happen for me personally! Grymyrk is absolutely amazing work and some of the coldest music to ever come out. Highly influential and one of a kind. Skål!
Great to see both your older and newer set-ups. And listening to you talk about the recording of Grymyrk was pretty interesting too. Looking forward to your next videos mister Snorre!
@@snorresschoolofdesktopsata1945 Indeed it looks very inspiring compared to a mundane pc! (also extremely more expensive I suppose) If I may ask Sir Snorre when can we expect some new, much needed, THORNS?
We are tracking vocals for the new album these days, so I guess and hope the album will see the light of day in 2024. The synth stuff is rather expensive but totally worth it work flow wise. And much more inspiring and unique sounding. I have a whole band in my rack, Bass, lead, kick, snare and hat. And a ton of versatility.
Hello,Snorre! Can you tell us the story of how you got your AMT preamplifier? What is your opinion about this device, its tone? How do you approach shaping your guitar tone with this preamp? Why exactly this, and not some other, more expensive device or fashionable plugin? Thanks in advance for your answer! Greetings from Siberia!
Wow! I was pleasantly surprised to see you have an AMT pedal! This guitar equipment company is from Siberia, they have very interesting instruments. I'm in my band Devilgroth, I use an AMT Stonehead amplifier in combination with a Peavey pxd guitar (Guitar like Varg's) By the way, hello to you Sir Snorre from cold Russia and Siberia! \m/
@@snorresschoolofdesktopsata1945 Here is a short sample of the sound of my AMT Stonehead (this is just a light crunch channel) th-cam.com/users/shorts96a2kDBqYjg?feature=share
@snorresschoolofdesktopsata1945 By the way the AMT-R1 was cool a pedal (had one long ago) when connected to tube poweramp. Well, the real recto-head of 90s was of course more brutal and powerful, with wow-factor, but pedal had advantage to with its sharp and clear highs.
Actually, I have tweaked the song and reused some parts from it in another song I'm making with Stigma. I think I can embed the whole intro track in one of the videos soon.
I don't have it here with me now, but it's something like this: -Signal from guitar picked up by Duncan Distortion -Super Tube has minimum drive, normal level, Bite and Bright at medium -ATM Bulava SS-30 has Crunch Bright enabled. Distortion Tone Shift does some interesting things to the tone but I most often leave it off. The High is on max, the Mids are very moderate and the Low is most often below half but balanced against the High and Mid. Level is on normal and the Drive is adjusted to what I currently want to play. I like to keep the sound dry and I most often go for distinction.
@@snorresschoolofdesktopsata1945 Thanks Boss. I think it inspires people to create when they can get a tone they've loved from an artist. This whole school idea is fantastic and, obviously we're all DYING to hear a new THORNS record.
Terrible stuff: A Boss GX-700 and an Access Virus synthesizer for bass. Today we have better equipment and I promise the next album sounds much bader ;-)

Just priceless BM teaching, inspiration and information. Thankyou Snorre
Grymyrk is unsurpassed to this day. It just works incredibly well, even without drums and vocals
My best preferred BM guitar sound explained by its creator! Thanx Master!
Amazing. Simply Amazing.
You are a legend. What a crazy set up in the end. Mindblowing. Please release more art
I guess all of this is your interface to God
A good interface to make music on at least! It's been much more rewarding and inspiring than the computers.

When I get rich I will try out some more ATM stuff, I really like how this stuff performs!!
Hope some day you could try to recreate your tones on vst amp sims.
Could you upload the full version of the intro song? It sounds great!
This is a old melody from a Commodore 64 game or something. Can only half remember it and I am thinking of using it for a synth album later.

What's you preferred string gauge for D standard Snorre? BTW, bought the twisted picks, NEVER going back from them! Great tip!
If I remember half correct it's 10 - 52. Twisted picks for twisted music seem just reasonable!
can you tell tale a story about recording a Grymurk demo?
Maybe in a later history class :)
Next up gear/studio full immersion pls
Hello Snorre. When you get a chance can you please talk about how you use your Arturia Key Step Pro for your prediction?

Snorre, do you consider yourself more of a rythm or a lead guitarist?
I'm a rhythm guitarist with so poor rhythm precicion and too much feel that I sound like a lead guitarist.
