He tells that story as making 3000 for a talk and living for 3 years on it.
He was a masterful storyteller from the few talks I’ve listened to. It’s like being in a trance listening to him.

Wonderful interview... just wondering though, if Martin might have found a similar skill for chant in Stephen Jenkinson--his books are written in his spoken voice and this is beautifully manifested in his collaboration with Gregory Hoskins in Nights of Grief and mystery
