I mean, obviously he would. Otherwise how would he earn money to repay the loans he had gotten? It would be pretty dumb to spend 2 years of hard work and labor along with a large sum of money that you have to repay just so you can have a private golf course.
I’m glad he didn’t let those racists stop him! And even better is that he decided to defy all odds and just make his own course, may I mention BY HAND! ❤ what a great story.

Anyway that’s not the point. This is genuinely powerful and just goes to show how, sometimes, racism is the very thing that could’ve inspired change in others.
I often wonder if the ideology of racism is what motivated amazing Black men and women to accomplish what they did. Segregation and discrimination is something that was changed with rebellion, so to speak.
In other words, perhaps the idea of racism inspired these amazing stories, which is motivating and inspiring in itself.
Overall, it’s stories like these that bring hope to the world. I hope everyone brings out their inner hope and make this world a better place.
(Side note, please do not misinterpret my epiphany. I was simply making an observation and I hope I didn’t give anyone the wrong idea. Have a wonderful day to whoever reads this and if Andy himself is reading this, keep up the great content!)

My grandfather & his friends loved golf. He played in Los Angeles in the late 1940s & 50s & 60s (post WW2) & here in Texas on public courses when he & my grandmother returned here after integration.

Cool story, but to keep in line with the prudish nature of golf- the sport is played in “rounds”, not ‘matches’. It’s a “round of golf”, or “a couple rounds of golf”. Matches are for fire or tennis.
