I think it's a good product and their free tier gives you already a lot! But the power of devcontainer & Github Codespace is that it's the same devcontainer.json framework used no matter if you are using VSCode locally or through Codespace. MS just released an open standard containers.dev/, and hopefully, this will get more adoption to make a common framework no matter the provider!
Hey , did the extension change the name what i find now is Dev Containers and even worst it now complains when trying to just Add Dev Container Configuration Files... "Command 'Dev Containers: Add Dev Container Configuration Files...' resulted in an error (certificate has expired)" btw i get this for all the commands for the extension , i have latest VScode latest Docker Dashboard and MacOS updated
Hey, the extension name is actually "remote-containers" so make sure you have this one installed. I think its name change already a while ago (before the video), make sure the extension is up to date and it should work.
@@mehdio thanks for your quick response , I fill something is really strange here , as the "remote-containers" doesn't show up on my extensions .... Is there a way if you have time to have a shared session somewhere you want so you could see what i see ? ... sorry i don't know if you have any spare time ...
Same here, "remote-containers" doesn't show up either. BUT I found that how to do it is simply using the new "Dev Containers" extension and in the palette the command will be "Dev Containers: Reopen in Container". It works the same.
You don't **have** to use vscode, it’s just one solution, you don't have to even user Docker. You don't even have to have the IDE outside the dev container.
what do you think about gitpod?

Thanks mate, found it way better than Microsoft's documentation and funny too :-)
Glad it helps!
What is the Rancher used for?
It's rancher for desktop, alternative of docker for desktop to run containers on Windows/MacOs
I don't think it works on exFAT Drives. At least on my PC it helped to copy the project over to an NTFS Drive

That was funny. 😂
Glad you enjoyed! Seems the situation described was familiar then ;-)
