@user-yu1te9wi8p to control one's bike from bouncing around. You don't squeeze the seat, it's more like you can help control the bike while you are bouncing all over the place. I say just try it, and you'll see. Of course, you can't do that when the terrain causes one to put their belly or chest over the seat.

Sorry, but this is not a good technique recommendation. It is best to "separate" the body from the bike in most all sketchy trail situations.
