I have schizoaffective disorder and know that if I stop taking my medications, I am at risk of becoming homeless. So, I will do without to buy my food, get my medications and keeping up my condo. What happens is that our family members will get tired of our behavior. So, they cannot help us out. The first thing my psychiatrist said to me when I lost my job, was to continue taking my medications. Also, middle class families are becoming homeless due to the lack of affordable housing. I don’t know what this world is coming to. We used to help our relatives with food and a couch to sleep on. I’d be happy to sleep on the floor of an air conditioned building and take a shower. It is discussing for hospitals to drop off any patient to fend for themselves. They are the weakest people in society. We need more mental institutions to house people with serious mental illness so that they have shelter. When I was in school, we did clinical at the state hospital.

This is so heart wrenching; I spend almost 2 years on the streets as a teen is Australia, I was one of the lucky ones.
Thank you Sharon, you are truly a godsend xxx

Such beautiful and good hearted people. I love how much Sharon vocalizes her trust in God and faith. Just goes to show you can't judge a person or see their heart by what they've been through.

The best part of it was when the picture of Jesus carrying her through quicksand and storm was shown and the narrator saying that Sharon now eagerly helping as many other homeless people as she can. That is being fruitful of good works because Jesus saved us first!

That is absolutely unconscionable that those hospitals are doing that to these poor souls. How they can even do that deliberately is inhumane.

It is a really devastating thing to
Go Through. It takes an awful long time to recover from and it leaves an indelible imprint on your psyche and soul.

My sister is schizophrenic and very abusive to the point of being violent. We've given her so many chances to keep on her medication or get out. Finally had to make the difficult decision of kicking her out. The hospital put her in a group home after being in a state hospital for 8 months, and she was only in the group home a few months before becoming violent with someone there and being kicked out. The hospital recommended she stay for 4 months with them for observation, she refused, the placed in another group home that she hated. She ended up giving away all her belongings and leaving that home. She is now currently homeless and keeps trying to break back into our house.

I was originally planning to spend the whole day in downtown LA the other day. Having a pleasant meal in Grand Central Market、taking some nice pictures at Bradbury building, and then lastly getting some good books from The Last Book Store. I parked my car at a parking lot beside the flower market. At around 4:30pm, I left the bookstore and headed to the parking lot on foot. I didn't know Skid Row was just around. While I was walking through the area, I saw a lot of people gathering in a park (San Julian). I smelled urine. I tried to avoid eye contact with any of them on the street. It was not 5pm yet and many stores were preparing to shut down...
I can't imagine how it is like during night time, and I don't know how the residents, especially for those raising kids put up with this "community" everyday...

It's disgusting. It happens in Australia too. It's happening to my fmate right now. He has methods use problems and severe psychosis. And the hospital just dumps him back on the st everytime. N his family can't take him. He's 40. N I can't handle the fear from the aggressive psychosis much longer. I feel awful having to put him out. But I have to. His episodes get too dangerous and unpredictable. I'm going to contact the ACUTE CARE MENTAL HEALTH TEAM myself. But they are bloody useless.

How can we send the links or the videos to our politicians? If enough people did that maybe we could raise awareness. Of course, we must present some solutions to these very busy people with influence if we want to make a difference. Maybe if the politicians see these, maybe a couple of them will derive some awareness, and if they have a heart, they may try to influence the government to put more money into social service programs that work. (CHECK OUT THE ACT TEAM....assertive community treatment teams). Also, maybe the extremely wealthy might be woken up.. people like Bill Gates, Donald Trump (he must have a heart there somewhere... or appeal to his ego and pride... figure out a way that it will make him look good to put some money into supportive employment or act teams). If enough extremely wealthy people like the Clintons or people that started these big successful corporations, such as Walmart, or football players who make millions a year... surely if enough of them were interested to change things, or invest in mental health projects proven to work- things would improve. One big problem is the lack of awareness of needing help when one has a psychotic illness.. the last sentence in this video says a lot.

Because people are more interested in the Kardashians and Kylie Jenners lipsticks and the beauty gurus and the footballers and Gwyneth Paltrow's latest GOOP fairy dust for $300 smoothies, that's why. Because homelessness isn't beautiful, there's no fashion to be seen, no expensive shoes to vlog about or Amazon wish lists and patreons to peddle. People simply don't care. Priorities such as they are, no one gives about the ugly underbelly of mental illness and homeless people. We're a broken society.

“Mental Illness” (as in the realm we are talking, suicide, self-destructive behavior) is a symptom of a “debased mind” (Romans 1:28). When someone is so utterly given over to wickedness, hopelessness, and rejection of Christ that they kill themselves (as masochistic behavior is noted as demonic in Scripture, Mark 5:2-5; Ephesians 5:29 “no one ever hated his own flesh”), such behavior reveals there is no faith in Christ. God has made Himself very clear: “the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10), the “unbelieving” go to the lake of fire (Revelation 21:8). The Bible is not a lie.

If a psychiatrist is a doctor then a serial killer must be a surgeon. A psychiatrist drugs the mind a drug dealer does the same .but a psychiatrist lives under the banner of helping people. If a psychiatrist really knows what drugs are good for our minds we would all be lining up for some drugs

Every time that you hear the words "homeless people" or "homeless problem" within this report, replace those words with "drug addicts" and "chronic addiction issues" and you'll have some small idea of what the real problem is. And with the drugs come the high crime rates in these areas. They need to steal to support their addictions. Plain & simple. I was there 20 years ago. If I can get myself out of there, anyone can. But, it's hard work, that must be ongoing for life. It's not 30%. That's a lie. Nearly 100% of the homeless in America are active in some form of addition.
