The TH-cam channel that Lia was talking about was Myka Stauffer. She and her family adopted a child with disabilities from China a couple years ago I believe and “rehomed” him claiming that he was to difficult to care for. Many people criticized them for using him for clout and such

My child has Down Syndrome and seeing this was heartbreaking. I remember a family on here that got rid of their child due to his issues. It happens more than most know and it is horrid. Love that you respected the story and spoke your mind. Our kids have feelings and dreams and are so loving.

Take some comfort in the fact that "inspired by a true story" has a very loose definition in film/video production. Basically, it's meaningless and most likely a lot of this video is speculation or invented for dramatic purposes.
Consider the movie Fargo, which claims it was based on a true story. It was not, it was entirely made up.

It’s honestly sad to hear that people do this irl. It’s heartbreaking 💔 when parents exploit there special needs children or any children from that matter.
This pulled my heart strings to think that this actually happens- I think the reason it hurt so much was because as humans we don't think of painful things like this. But it if we don't realize how we feel about it we can't address it, and if we don't address it we can't change it.

As a person with a lot of disabled or special needs people in my life, it is really sad seeing people use them like they some tool or object to try to get attention. It really is sad. I had a friend who had autism so her mom used that to her advantage to get extra support and bc my friend was autistic her mom didn’t like her and rejected her but acted like she was her favorite around everyone else. It was really sad.😔😔
