Installing Pond Underlayment and Root Barrier!

- In this video I'm going to show you how I installed my pond underlayment as well as my root barrier installation. The idea is that the root barrier will prevent tree roots from reaching my pond and potentially damaging my pond liner, while the idea behind the pond underlay is to create a softer surface to place my pond liner on top of to help prevent punctures in the pond liner. I will be installing the pond liner in my next video!

Thank you Luis! It's crazy how much it has rained. I filled up the pond most of the way by myself, but now with the rain, the water level is almost to the top!

Can you still put concrete in those blocks. I put concrete and rebar in everyhole. Also you don't need French drain usually thats for states with heavy rain or snow. Looking good!!
Yeah I could still put concrete in them. I don’t know if I need to though. A couple weeks ago when it rained I got like 24” of water at the bottom of the pond lol, but now with the liner and with water I think it should be fine. I think I will still put a French drain behind the pond though because that part of the yard tends to flood when it rains heavy for a couple days.
@@TobiasHolenstein i would be cause water weighs alot. As far as French drain you must have some clay dirt? My old botton drain leaked for a few years and it never bubbled the liner, just seeped into the ground.
Curious to see how you will make the filtration system. Great idea with the shout-out thing, makes it more interesting and might draw in more attention to that person than just rambling all the names out.

Thanks man! Yeah I'm also curious how the new filtration will go. I haven't fully planned it out yet haha, but I have a vague idea and we'll see how the new shoutouts strategy goes 😄
On the shout out, keep as before. People will feel sad when they don't hear their name's called out. But you can pick one of them to do a quick special comment about them or their channel, ( something like that) 🤔😂.

What do you plan on stocking that pond with?
I'm going to transfer my fish from my pool pond into there, which is mostly goldfish, one butterfly koi and a dojo loach, but I'd also like to get a couple of koi that have the potential to grow pretty big

@@TobiasHolenstein I thought you had a bunch of shabukin as well. My two butterflies should book and just spawned and given they are still about 3/8 of an inch they still have a while to grow out. With you looking like you are in L.A., would you accept some as gifts?
On the name shout out, won,t you land up with a massive list of names, if your only calling out one on each vlog or are you planning to just draw out a name on each vlog from your list .
Yeah pretty much. Basically it would be like picking names from a hat, and if I pick a name of someone that I already gave a shoutout to I would pick a new name. I'm not set on the idea yet, but I'm thinking maybe I'll try this way out for a few videos and see how everyone feels about it. If people liked the old way better, I'll go back to the old way of doing shoutouts
