The dance sequence to Pennys theme was one of the most enjoyable, pure, and entertaining things I’ve seen in awhile. Have always loved your movies and videos and this one was the best of all IMO. I love how Absol does absolutely whatever he wants whenever he for example hears a new Pokémon theme, it gives a lot of more fun factor and is overall kinda goofy, but makes him more likable as a content creator
2:17:40 A mashup of Cerulean Cave and the Distortion world is a perfect description for Area Zero! Love it's theme, so eerie and futuristic sounding but what sounds like a thermin playing the main melody makes it feel old too
I started jamming to Penny's theme, I look and see Matt doing the same, and I just nodded at the screen and went, "Right?!?!" Also, "Dunsparce was already perfect"- THIS GUY. GETS IT. This is the single best thing they could've done for Dunsparce and I respect them so hard for doing our boy justice. >Elite Four music glitch matching the vibe RIGHT!?!?! It built up the tension so well, which really fit with how tense the notion of the Champion Assessment was! I thought it was a little odd, but it worked, so I didn't question it!
When I did the E4, and it was glitched, I had no idea, and just assumed they wanted you to be Anxious AF throughout the entire battle. I dunno what it was about that loop, but it made my heart start hurting, like I was about to have a panic attack because my anxiety was through the roof during what was otherwise a relatively easy fight. It made the E4 battle feel so much more intense than it was for me 😅
The glitched portion really worked so well!! It glitched at just the right place to make it all tense, anxiety-inducing, and mysterious. I partly realized something might be wrong with it since it sounded so different from other music in the game, but I still played with the sound up. I feel like it helped me pause and think about my next move more carefully because it felt so serious.

The high positivity and excitement throughout the entire movie is genuinely a bright light in the dark sea of negativity that I see on the internet (same goes for your streams). Seriously and sincerely, thank you for the commitment to sharing this part of your life. I'm sure it's second nature for you at this point, but there is a lot to be said about filming yourself for such extended periods of time. Stay mentally healthy and keep enjoying what you're doing.
I love the vaguely creepy sci-fi elements making a return this game. It's one of the classic elements of Red and Blue (imo) that doesn't often make it to new gens.
i *love* the way you incorporate pokémon into your life and how you incorporate that life into these movies . it's cool seeing you try a new food because you ate it in a pokémon game and i adored that dance segment . the editing in this movie was also top tier . absolutely worth the hype 💙
Been watching all of your movies since XY (hard to believe it’s been 10 years and that I was 10 when that came out) and decided to go in blind to this game with you for the first time since those ones and that had to be one of the best decisions I’ve made. MATT(absol). This was FANTASTIC. I regretted having to save this video for after my playthrough (that ended up taking over a year!) and for a game I did not like, this video has made me care about it a lot. Particularly your reaction to the endgame and your theory about the imagination made me see so much in a game I thought I didn't care about. Your movies are always incredible but you outdid yourself!!

Let me tell you it has been so hard to find scarlet and violet content that it actually pleasing to watch because I constantly feel like Im being talked down to by people who are bothered by bugs. But this is the way I feel, there are certain parts where it’s noticeable, but it’s either funny to me or I don’t care, but I do care that other people care but at the same time I personally don’t care.
Bugs don't bother me much either. I've only seen a few, like shadows glitching in and out, Koraidon/Miraidon "falling" on solid ground, etc. One that I did find slightly annoying was this: In Scarlet, while riding Koraidon, Koraidon would turn, but my character wouldn't. I ended up riding facing sideways or backwards while Koraidon always faced forward. My characters arms did weird things when this happened too. I just saved and restarted the software and it stopped. Haven't seen it since!
@jessicalee5260 super late response but I agree, I ended up going back and buying Scarlet (I originally bought Violet) and despite the visual bugs and glitches, I've had a blast with it. I have loved the dlc too

This was well worth the wait! Loved the historical accuracy of Klawf's battle, the numerous small jokes given perfecting timing with great editing, and especially the speculation at the end! I havent given much thought to future DLC/updates beyond that massive unclimbable wall to the north east, but this video has me super excited for what's to come! And LOVED the painted rock! Great video! Cant wait to see more from you!
Area Zero was such a surprise for me. I told my boyfriend that I finished the story. I stayed awake for many more hours trying to explore this new element. I haven't given you proper thanks for these videos, I endulge in these when released, I have been working myself up to this one. This is the first video I've seen by you, and it's so awesome! Your editing is on point, and you really zoned in on the details of the game that most people don't notice or talk about in their playthroughs. For instance, most people joke at the fact that Arven just gives you Koraidon, but you actually noticed that his dialogue shows he really doesn't want it. I'm impressed by the video and I'm only 10 minutes in. Edit: I admire your pure determination and spite to fight Larry before anything else. You could have gone to so many other things that were lower leveled, but you went for the 5th gym because you thought he looked interesting. And yes, he is definitely interesting, despite being such an average, normal guy. Edit 2, there might be a lot of these, this is just really entertaining: The edited Poke rap was great. I'm getting overwhelmed with things I like about this so I'm just gonna say: Your humor is great, the extra things you add to the video besides gameplay is great, and your hair is great. Came back to re-watch this after a new itch for all things pokemon with the first part of the dlc and it's giving me the same feelings as it did when I watched it the first time, and the same excitement for more pokemon adventures. Your style of storytelling brings out emotion more than anything I have ever experienced.
Found a shiny Tinkatuff at 2:44:29! - Always love watching your movies, and seeing your speculation! You inspired me to play through this game blind and it made me enjoy it so much more. It was crazy discovering new pokemon for the first time without looking at all the leaks beforehand (other than my first game) and it's something I will do from here on out. Can't wait to see all the gauntlets and hunts you come up with!
Matt, I could write a long and drawn out comment of appreciation of your videos and the subtle humor you inject that make each movie a work of art - but I dont think I could say it any better than 'Thank you so much' for your time and (considerable) effort you put into each and every video. Whenever I see an AbsolBlogs post, I never pass it by without checking it out. Also, the hard cut mid-sentence from the gym to the sandwich shop had me ROLLING!!
Can't wait as usual for this, clicked faster than I've been queueing up for all these tera raids EDIT: could not agree more with the whole imagination schtick, some things to add that I've noted thus far (get ready for crackhead theories, some of which may or may not stick also spoilers): Geeta mentions imagination directly as her last line in the champion battle. To further compound her suspicious nature, her ace Glimmora contains the materials needed to create tera blast, which as we've seen thus far only you, sada/turo's pokemon, and geeta use in battle. Glimmora's petals also could potentially resemble a crown if flipped downwards. The compass rose resembled on the pokemon league could be a huge hint towards this idea of reorientating how we're looking at Glimmora. Larry and his Facade schtick along with him and Geeta seeming at odds for some reason might connect back to him subtly hinting at us that there's more than meets the eye about his boss, who he mentions multiple times forcing him to adapt or cornering him. The king from the fable might also connect back to this crowned pokemon, and Galar as well hence the connections we've seen thus far to stars and the similar raid system. This could also be hinting at the idea that the king posed as a human, but in reality was a pokemon. This is related to the fact that people thought these ruin causers were weapons or objects, when they were in reality pokemon. This paralells shockingly well with Geeta, who has an odd appearance and is also in a major position of power as the Top Chamption or La Primera. Speaking of which, I have an idea of what might be the missing link between imagination and the legendary pokemon: Dream Mist. A lot of the tera raids we see ingame have pokemon featured with their hidden abilities, even a Rockruff with Own Tempo being one of the roaming terastal pokemon. This obviously could be hinting back at the dream world from gen 5. Dreams are also deeply connected to the imagination, being mentioned several times by the AI professors during their battle/interactions. The Paradise Protection Protocol could have corrupted the professor's brain with dream mist, convincing them to pursue research in its benefit. It's possible that others met this same fate when the investigation happened 500 years ago, hence the scrawlings about hexagons and not remembering writing them down, almost like a dream. This could imply that one or more of the researchers stayed in the creater, creating all of the research labs, structures, and hexagonal room we see at the end. Not solid on that idea yet though. Again, these are just disorganized ideas, and I'm just a person who reads into things wayy too much so I could be wrong on multiple fronts here. Anyways, great vid as always!
Love the idea of the first Paldean king actually being a Pokémon posing as a human - or probably tying into SM, with him being from another dimension. TBH my friend and I thought for a while that the story could reslove around aliens, given the disk shape of the mysterios missing legendary (the world-turtle thing), the seemingly "alive" bangs of the history teacher and - of course - Geeta's strange apperance. I'm pretty sure both women have more to them than meets the eye. Even without aliens, all the time machine stuff so closley resembles "falling" or any other form of dimensional travel, that I found it pretty hard not to connect things to the Ultra Beasts here. Especially given that noone really tell you, where the first plans of the time machine are coming from or why the paradox Donphan is in the desert. After completly ignoring fallers in SV, but practically make your character one in Arceus I bet they once again dig into the concept. Plus I want to see Looker return (who had no ancestor in Arceus despite being a recurring character first met in Sinnoh)... The notion of imagination and dream is also interesting. Never thought about that up til now, but, yeah. There could be a possible connection to Unova (again!). And I like that you think there is something between Geeta and Larry going on. I would even go further and call them a couple, probably even spouses. Don't know, something about Larry gives of the vibes of him being a husband comanded by his wife. Don't mean that in a bad sense.
@@RocketJo86 Wow, that's an interesting interpretation! I'd never really considered Larry and her as romantic interests, but I could see them being a power couple being a cool twist. Plus I think her theme does incorporate some kind of passionate Spanish cultural elements as well (Though I'm not exactly well versed enough in that specific genre to really know the difference). Also yeah I could for sure see fallers coming into play, especially if there is some sort of dimensional/time travel ties to Gen 7 and PLA respectively. I always wrote off the history teacher's hair moving as a visual bug, but funnily enough I think it would make for a genius subversion of expectations if they intentionally decided to keep it that way after it started moving on it's own. The world turtle idea makes a lot of sense, it gave me that vibe too when I looked at the way it was shaped. I thought of the idea of a creature that is dreaming up the landscape we see in Area Zero along with the Paradox Pokemon, AI, and Terastal energy using the minds of humans, kind of like in chuthulian lore. As for the professors, this video actually helped me to realize that Sada/Turo are most likely sci-fi movie buffs. Because like who actually wears what they're wearing normally? It's almost like they were cosplaying or something. Plus, the connection with Iron Thorns and the mechanical Tyranitar from Pokestar studios is kind of wild. There is mention of time travel in the pokestar studios themselves (I might have to go back and play/see them all to get a clearer picture) and I believe it shows the future and past. It's very possible that this is the basis of their dreams, growing up watching sci-fi movies which could play into why they became professors in the first place. They might even have like a villain complex or something where they have an inherent desire to become those sci-fi villains they saw as a kid, but I have a feeling it's more nuanced than that.
Matt....whenever my love for Pokemon begins to fade away, you always manage to revitilize it with your movies. Your videos are so entertaining, and what I love the most about em is the amount of dedication and love you pour into them. You managee to make me feel like a child all over again. You remind me of just how amazing and magical these games are. Thank you for being part of this community. Theres no other like you!

I've been anticipating this, these movies are always such a treat and have taught me just how special a pokemon journey can be, ever since the first one I watched i've put more effort into making a new game release as enjoyable as possible with this game in particular I am so excited for the mysteries of the third legend and of area zero to be explored and can't wait to see what comes next! Had an awesome time watching someone playthrough the game for the first time while having already played through it myself. Felt like I was playing through it again, which is always the most fun playing for the first time. Love the way you like similar things to me as well and similar humor.

The 3rd legendary is for sure the time machine / time machine chamber itself!! If you look at the sketch in the book its a huge oval made of hexagons just like the place in which the final battle takes place. Sada/Turo weren’t protecting a time machine they were protecting the 3rd legendary 👀

I love the vaguely creepy sci-fi elements making a return this game. It's one of the classic elements of Red and Blue (imo) that doesn't often make it to new gens.
i *love* the way you incorporate pokémon into your life and how you incorporate that life into these movies . it's cool seeing you try a new food because you ate it in a pokémon game and i adored that dance segment . the editing in this movie was also top tier . absolutely worth the hype 💙

MATT(absol). This was FANTASTIC. I regretted having to save this video for after my playthrough (that ended up taking over a year!) and for a game I did not like, this video has made me care about it a lot. Particularly your reaction to the endgame and your theory about the imagination made me see so much in a game I thought I didn't care about. Let me tell you it has been so hard to find scarlet and violet content that it actually pleasing to watch because I constantly feel like Im being talked down to by people who are bothered by bugs. But this is the way I feel, there are certain parts where it’s noticeable, but it’s either funny to me or I don’t care, but I do care that other people care but at the same time I personally don’t care.
Bugs don't bother me much either. I've only seen a few, like shadows glitching in and out, Koraidon/Miraidon "falling" on solid ground, etc. One that I did find slightly annoying was this: In Scarlet, while riding Koraidon, Koraidon would turn, but my character wouldn't. I ended up riding facing sideways or backwards while Koraidon always faced forward. My characters arms did weird things when this happened too. I just saved and restarted the software and it stopped. Haven't seen it since!
@jessicalee5260 super late response but I agree, I ended up going back and buying Scarlet (I originally bought Violet) and despite the visual bugs and glitches, I've had a blast with it. I have loved the dlc too

I love how people are suspicious of Arven at first and immediately want to help him when they see Mabosstiff.

This was well worth the wait! Loved the historical accuracy of Klawf's battle, the numerous small jokes given perfecting timing with great editing, and especially the speculation at the end! I havent given much thought to future DLC/updates beyond that massive unclimbable wall to the north east, but this video has me super excited for what's to come!

This is the first video I've seen by you, and it's so awesome! Your editing is on point, and you really zoned in on the details of the game that most people don't notice or talk about in their playthroughs. For instance, most people joke at the fact that Arven just gives you Koraidon, but you actually noticed that his dialogue shows he really doesn't want it. I'm impressed by the video and I'm only 10 minutes in.
Edit: I admire your pure determination and spite to fight Larry before anything else. You could have gone to so many other things that were lower leveled, but you went for the 5th gym because you thought he looked interesting. And yes, he is definitely interesting, despite being such an average, normal guy.
Edit 2, there might be a lot of these, this is just really entertaining: The edited Poke rap was great.
I'm getting overwhelmed with things I like about this so I'm just gonna say: Your humor is great, the extra things you add to the video besides gameplay is great, and your hair is great. Kudos to you man

Came back to re-watch this after a new itch for all things pokemon with the first part of the dlc and it's giving me the same feelings as it did when I watched it the first time, and the same excitement for more pokemon adventures. Your style of storytelling brings out emotion more than anything I have ever experienced.

Always love watching your movies, and seeing your speculation! You inspired me to play through this game blind and it made me enjoy it so much more. It was crazy discovering new pokemon for the first time without looking at all the leaks beforehand (other than my first game) and it's something I will do from here on out. Can't wait to see all the gauntlets and hunts you come up with!
Matt, I could write a long and drawn out comment of appreciation of your videos and the subtle humor you inject that make each movie a work of art - but I dont think I could say it any better than 'Thank you so much' for your time and (considerable) effort you put into each and every video. Whenever I see an AbsolBlogs post, I never pass it by without checking it out.
Also, the hard cut mid-sentence from the gym to the sandwich shop had me ROLLING!!

EDIT: could not agree more with the whole imagination schtick, some things to add that I've noted thus far (get ready for crackhead theories, some of which may or may not stick also spoilers):
Geeta mentions imagination directly as her last line in the champion battle.
To further compound her suspicious nature, her ace Glimmora contains the materials needed to create tera blast, which as we've seen thus far only you, sada/turo's pokemon, and geeta use in battle.
Glimmora's petals also could potentially resemble a crown if flipped downwards. The compass rose resembled on the pokemon league could be a huge hint towards this idea of reorientating how we're looking at Glimmora.
Larry and his Facade schtick along with him and Geeta seeming at odds for some reason might connect back to him subtly hinting at us that there's more than meets the eye about his boss, who he mentions multiple times forcing him to adapt or cornering him.
The king from the fable might also connect back to this crowned pokemon, and Galar as well hence the connections we've seen thus far to stars and the similar raid system.
This could also be hinting at the idea that the king posed as a human, but in reality was a pokemon. This is related to the fact that people thought these ruin causers were weapons or objects, when they were in reality pokemon. This paralells shockingly well with Geeta, who has an odd appearance and is also in a major position of power as the Top Chamption or La Primera.
Speaking of which, I have an idea of what might be the missing link between imagination and the legendary pokemon: Dream Mist.
A lot of the tera raids we see ingame have pokemon featured with their hidden abilities, even a Rockruff with Own Tempo being one of the roaming terastal pokemon.
This obviously could be hinting back at the dream world from gen 5.
Dreams are also deeply connected to the imagination, being mentioned several times by the AI professors during their battle/interactions.
The Paradise Protection Protocol could have corrupted the professor's brain with dream mist, convincing them to pursue research in its benefit.
It's possible that others met this same fate when the investigation happened 500 years ago, hence the scrawlings about hexagons and not remembering writing them down, almost like a dream.
This could imply that one or more of the researchers stayed in the creater, creating all of the research labs, structures, and hexagonal room we see at the end. Not solid on that idea yet though.
Again, these are just disorganized ideas, and I'm just a person who reads into things wayy too much so I could be wrong on multiple fronts here. Anyways, great vid as always!

Love the idea of the first Paldean king actually being a Pokémon posing as a human - or probably tying into SM, with him being from another dimension. TBH my friend and I thought for a while that the story could reslove around aliens, given the disk shape of the mysterios missing legendary (the world-turtle thing), the seemingly "alive" bangs of the history teacher and - of course - Geeta's strange apperance. I'm pretty sure both women have more to them than meets the eye. Even without aliens, all the time machine stuff so closley resembles "falling" or any other form of dimensional travel, that I found it pretty hard not to connect things to the Ultra Beasts here. Especially given that noone really tell you, where the first plans of the time machine are coming from or why the paradox Donphan is in the desert. After completly ignoring fallers in SV, but practically make your character one in Arceus I bet they once again dig into the concept. Plus I want to see Looker return (who had no ancestor in Arceus despite being a recurring character first met in Sinnoh)...
The notion of imagination and dream is also interesting. Never thought about that up til now, but, yeah. There could be a possible connection to Unova (again!).
And I like that you think there is something between Geeta and Larry going on. I would even go further and call them a couple, probably even spouses. Don't know, something about Larry gives of the vibes of him being a husband comanded by his wife. Don't mean that in a bad sense.
@@RocketJo86 Wow, that's an interesting interpretation! I'd never really considered Larry and her as romantic interests, but I could see them being a power couple being a cool twist. Plus I think her theme does incorporate some kind of passionate Spanish cultural elements as well (Though I'm not exactly well versed enough in that specific genre to really know the difference). Also yeah I could for sure see fallers coming into play, especially if there is some sort of dimensional/time travel ties to Gen 7 and PLA respectively. I always wrote off the history teacher's hair moving as a visual bug, but funnily enough I think it would make for a genius subversion of expectations if they intentionally decided to keep it that way after it started moving on it's own. The world turtle idea makes a lot of sense, it gave me that vibe too when I looked at the way it was shaped. I thought of the idea of a creature that is dreaming up the landscape we see in Area Zero along with the Paradox Pokemon, AI, and Terastal energy using the minds of humans, kind of like in chuthulian lore.
As for the professors, this video actually helped me to realize that Sada/Turo are most likely sci-fi movie buffs. Because like who actually wears what they're wearing normally? It's almost like they were cosplaying or something. Plus, the connection with Iron Thorns and the mechanical Tyranitar from Pokestar studios is kind of wild. There is mention of time travel in the pokestar studios themselves (I might have to go back and play/see them all to get a clearer picture) and I believe it shows the future and past. It's very possible that this is the basis of their dreams, growing up watching sci-fi movies which could play into why they became professors in the first place. They might even have like a villain complex or something where they have an inherent desire to become those sci-fi villains they saw as a kid, but I have a feeling it's more nuanced than that.
The dream connection blew my mind that actually makes sense in a crazy sorta way
Matt....whenever my love for Pokemon begins to fade away, you always manage to revitilize it with your movies. Your videos are so entertaining, and what I love the most about em is the amount of dedication and love you pour into them. You managee to make me feel like a child all over again. A few weeks ago we actually got confirmation from Go Ichinose about who composed the Team Star related battles themes and that is Teruo Taniguchi! They also composed songs for a game named Giga Wrecker Alt. if people want to hear more of their stuff.
I've been anticipating this, these movies are always such a treat and have taught me just how special a pokemon journey can be, ever since the first one I watched i've put more effort into making a new game release as enjoyable as possible
with this game in particular I am so excited for the mysteries of the third legend and of area zero to be explored and can't wait to see what comes next!

Had an awesome time watching someone playthrough the game for the first time while having already played through it myself. Felt like I was playing through it again, which is always the most fun playing for the first time. Love the way you like similar things to me as well and similar humor.

The 3rd legendary is for sure the time machine / time machine chamber itself!! If you look at the sketch in the book its a huge oval made of hexagons just like the place in which the final battle takes place. Sada/Turo weren’t protecting a time machine they were protecting the 3rd legendary 👀
