Hi, you've reached the part of the description where I recount the contents of the video to see if it affects how widely the video is distributed. Talking about things like Chinese history, the history of China, and how Xuan of Han was a Chinese emperor born in prison after his great-grandfather Emperor Wu of Han locked him away for being related to Crown Prince Ju, who didn't even want to rebel in the first place. I guess a lot of TH-camrs just include their first paragraph in the description for these purposes but sadly I don't think that really works in this case.
    Music (in order of appearance):
    Epikton - Doomsday
Greg Dombrowski - Heart of Darkness
    Kevin Macleod - Hidden Past
Qing Bei Le - The Joy of Drinking Up the Wine
    Aphrow - Lion Dance
    Pendulum - Slam
Lin Ling - Battling the Typhoon
Jed Kurzel - The Child, Part 1 (Macbeth OST)
    Koba - Castillo

That honestly went better than expected given how emperor stories seem to go

This is slowly becoming a historical soap opera tv show channel

That guy partied so hard he committed 1100 impeachable offences in 27 days? I know where I'm going to time travel if I get the chance.

Moral of the story: best way to raise a future monarch to care about the common folks is to raise them as a commoner

"in 27 days on 1127 charges" that's a speedrun if I've ever seen one

I don’t why but giving such a happy ending to one of these tales from the past made me literally scream with joy when I found out Emperor Xuan did well even after his loss. Like when I watched Emperor Pedro II’s video I was so devastated that he just gave up at the end and honestly sacrificed his entire life being the true man of the people.

Ah, you think familicide is your ally? But you merely adopted the notion. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see a healthy family til I was already a man, and by then it was nothing to me but LOVING

Xuan is a very good emperor. Aside from Emperor Gao (who established the dynasty), Wen (who abolished torturous corporal punishments), and Wu (who defeated Xiongnu), he is the only emperor to get a temple name in Western Han Dynasty. Having a temple name means that all the later emperors, no matter how distantly related to you as time goes by, will have to pay tribute to you as a revered ancestor. His temple name was “Zhongzong” literally, the middle ancestor, or sense-for-sense, “the restorer of the dynasty”.

You gotta love how actual history destroys story structure.

The fact he gave the warden a position is so wholesome

Please don’t have a sad ending, please don’t have a crazy ending, please let the good guy get a big W.

I do love how the otherwise rather faceless Chinese empires get a bit of a personality with these episodes. All those dynasties are good and all, but in the end these are people doing things. I would like to see something about the original Heavenly Emperor or the Bald Monkey (just a sea away) but I almost don't care who you talk about, Jack, it's always gonna be interesting.

I love how last episode you brought him being imprisoned as a child almost like a passing joke

Funny how the emperor decides to be less of a dick after his son's death, orders to kill all inmates in China because a magician says so, remembers what he decided and that "kill all prisoners because Gandalf said so" is bonkers and cancels the order

I keep coming back to this series and honestly all i think about was the meeting the empoeror had with Xuan amd how shocked both of them must have been when they met.
