    Thank you! We were playing with this yesterday. It’s pretty difficult for users who are completely blind. We tried to read products with the short text like spices, cans, etc, things my daughter needs at work at the bakery. Maybe it was just the iPhone. We’ll have to try some other techniques, maybe the product. I’ve put this video in our “likes” playlist.

      In my opinion I think it is hard as well because you have to see where you are pointing your phone I would recommend getting there in vision glasses where it is hands-free and it is awesome I know you said this two years ago

    Hi Sam, I have just put this App on my new iphone and was pleased the short text channel worked on my first attempt! Your videos are great-you present the info clearly and I like the length of the videos. I can watch one and then follow through with some of the ideas you talked about. Many thanks, Sue

    Greetings Sam, just found your channel and subscribed. I was very keen to get this app, however, it is not currently available in Australia, and also it only works with IOS 10, which is bad news for me as two of my IOS devices will not upgrade past version 9. Your channel is great.

    I have the app on my phone. I’ll download it to my phone a couple of years ago right when it first came out. On my iPhone 7. I haven’t download it to my iPad or my Apple MacBook. But it is on my iPhone. There are other apps. You can probably look at and discuss. Called Be My Eyes and TapTapSee. Maybe in another video you can demonstrate those for people who do not have them I can show how they also work. Because I also have these apps. And I love them as a totally blind person I love him so much.

      The Blind Spot this app is nice things for demoing it Microsoft is been working really hard to get this under last update was 2.2 but the thing wrong with my iPad is that I does I have the facial love I'm sorry there's two problems the first problem is that the there is no product channel and sometimes the face recognition doesn't work so I had to delete the app and download it again last timer to do that as well so

    This sounds fabulous. Since it is 2 years old, has it been updated? My mother has severe macular degeneration. She can not read her mail and documents. She will soon be 81. Has hard time knowing what she is buying at the grocery stores.
    What iPad would you recommend fir her to get to out this app on.
    She/we need all the help we can get to help keep her independent.
    Also she is struggling with telephone. Do you recommend a certain phone for the blind or very low vision patients. We need one the phone or iPad to read email

    • @theblindlife
      @theblindlife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They have updated a few things on the app since this video. It’s still free and even more helpful than it was before. It works on any iOS device, iPhones or iPads. I really love my giant 12 inch iPad Pro because the big screen makes things easier to see. However, it’s not portable at all. If you’re looking for something portable I would look into something with a smaller size. As far as an easy to use phone for senior citizens would love vision, check out the BlindShell accessible mobile phone. You can Google it or look for videos on TH-cam. I’ve made a couple myself.

    This video is wonderful!
    I have a best friend that is blind. I am going to download this app on her ipad. She just purchased her ipad a few weeks ago, so very knew to all of this. I am trying hard to help her. She is so excited with hopes of gaining some independence.
    I have a question if anyone has an answer, please.
    Is there an app to help the blind scroll to find various utube videos?
    My friend is subscribed to a couple channels that help her do bible study. With some lessons and sermons. Siri will take her to the utube channel specifically requested. But that is far as she goes. Once she is there my friend cannot see to select and play the videos. Any help would be so greatly appreciated.
    New subscriber!!
    God Bless You!

    • @theblindlife
      @theblindlife  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tanya, that’s so great that you are helping your friend! I don’t know of a specific app that will do what you were asking but it’s very possible that there is one out there. Really the best thing your friend could do is, if she doesn’t know how to yet, learn voiceover on her iPad. If she is familiar with it, practice, practice, practice! Using voice over, it’s very easy for her to go to those TH-cam channels and, either find the search button on the channel to find a specific video, or simply look through the list of videos to find one she wants to watch. If she needs more help with voiceover, myself and my friend Derek Daniel have a series called voice over 101. You can find some of the videos on my channel and some on his.

      The only thing that I know of that would do all the things you’re asking would probably be an Apple Watch. You could use different apps for navigation. I don’t have a lot of experience with the Apple Watch but it might be something you should look into.

    I downloaded this app but the barcode reader is worthless? It doesn't even scan the barcode or even recognize it at all? it just sits there and does nothing? This app will tell me that there is a car when I scan my C-PAP machine into it when it clearly is not a car. It would be nice if this app had a feature where if there is more than one item in a room you can slide your finger or just point and hold your finger on a very specific point on the screen and it will only tell you what is pinpointed in that area and ignore everything else around it? If this app had a training feature where you could train the app to learn what a product is and this would not only help UI but it can be sent to a universal databank where if something like the C-PAP recognizes to on someone else's app? It seems like a cool app but these are some things that make me not really use the app? If there was a feature on this app that would allow you to point your camera to a curb it would be nice if it would detect a curb or a drop-off and as you scan it would let you know where the curb cut is located? The other feature is the stair feature but when I pointed the camera at a single site or a set of steps it couldn't recognize them in plain sight? I am legally blind and have some sight but I use a power chair and using a cane is not possible for me this is why I mentioned about the curb and curb cuts? Along with this, it would be nice if this app would tell me the color of the light and walk signals and how they are displayed?

      Unfortunately, I don’t write documents on my iPhone or iPad. So I wouldn’t be much help with this. You might want to go onto one of the iPhone and iPad accessibility Facebook groups to ask what others are using

      Unless you just have an old iPad, you should be able to put it on there. When you search for it on the App Store, you’ll need to change the search filter to iPhone only. You can do that in the upper left-hand corner of the search window. The reason you have to do this is that the app isn’t officially supported on iPad. It works 100% though, even though it’s not supported. I am currently reviewing another app that does similar things so once the review is ready I’ll post it.

    Hello how in 2019 what you recommend 🍎 tablet or undroid it?

    • @theblindlife
      @theblindlife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on many different factors. What is your level of vision? What operating system are you familiar with? What is your budget? Are you going to be using magnification or screen reader? You can check out one of my most recent videos talking about android versus Apple to get my opinions on which is better.

    • @theblindlife

      No, not at all. The quick read and everything else will still read out loud to you. The only thing that won’t be read out loud is the name of the channels and the information in the menu system.

    • @theblindlife

      +Heeeyak you can save your scan as a text document and listen to it later, but you’re unable to take multiple pictures and save as one document. If you’re looking for that functionality, you should try cayenneFB reader

    • @theblindlife
      @theblindlife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s because it’s technically only available for iPhone. However it works perfectly on the iPad as well. When you search for it, click on the filter in the top left corner and change it to iPhone only. Then you will find the app and be able to download it.

      No, Android doesn't have seen a I but it does have some apps that fills some of the same purposes of it Google has Lookout that fills the text and barcode reading functions of seeing a I and Sullivan Plus as those functions long with the face recognition function. Also, you do have super sense and speak! They're also fill some of the functions and I cannot forget about Envision AI but that one is a pay app.
