  • On 18 March 2021 we held the third event in our Celebrating the Welsh College events series, developed by Dr Mark Williams and Professor Paulina Kewes. On this occasion our Vice Principal and Professor of Human Geography, Patricia Daley, hosted a talk by Professor Simon Haslett, Visiting Fellow at Jesus College and former Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Wales. Professor Haslett spoke about his theory that the 1607 flood in the Bristol Channel and Severn Estuary was caused not by a storm surge, as was commonly believed, but by a tsunami.

I've been interested in the 1607 flood for many years.
A great watch, thank you. Simon seemed a bit rushed for time at the end, would have been happy to listen to him talk for another hour!
