Always enjoy these videos. You spoke of hardwood cuttings and how it can be done any time of year but is that true only for you in California or can I do that up here in the Toronto region of Canada where our deciduous are all dormant? Should I wait until spring for Elms in my area?
Please google hard wood propagation of apple trees and use that as a starting point. It is produced by the thousands for grafting named trees. The is in late fall and plant them in wet sand with bottom heat. I think it is going to be difficult to root hardened branches of elm. Try to find out if it's possible! Anything is possible given elms is easy to root. Tell us your result to share with the BH community. :)
Hi love watching your videos and you live in a beautiful area (constant birdsong!). Just wondering about you saying that November is good for doing root pruning- do you think that is applicable to your climate there? I live in Sweden and we already have snow ans -6c temps at night and generally we do root pruning at the end of winter/start of spring. My potted prebonsai are already frozen in to their pots..
According to Japanese bonsai books, cutting off cork black pine can be rooted with less than 10% success rate. I found recently a TH-cam video showing air laying a black pine rooting in 25 months using sphagnum moss.
I been waiting for someone to do a jacaranda bonsai video , they’re so easy to shape and bend , takes little time to set the trunk/branches and flower beautifully

You are correct! Spring is the best time to do root pruning or repotting to avoid the remaining roots of the weakened tree get frozen over.
Yet again a great video thanks Milton keep up the good work mate thanks
