I feel like the two versions are like Ying and Yang. Chris Martins version is about death and being ”raised up” by God into heaven. This Simon-version is more playful and uses the heaven-metaphore to describe a feeling and people who will bring light and change to the world!
It's not just the vocals that change the vibe in the two versions, the version with Chris is actually a little bit slower in tempo - have one open in Spotify while you listen to this and it's more obvious. Always loved this version more because it had more of a happy vibe and a more energetic drop but I'm glad Chris was able to get it released in some form 🙂
Just wanna clear this up: the official version with chris martin on vocals is the version avicii wanted released. also, chris martin was the original vocalist. avicii experimented with some other vocalists (including this version with simon aldred), but finally decided to go back to the original one. this song was made during the coldplay-avicii sessions (the same time as 'a sky full of stars', so 2014), meaning chris martin actually co-wrote this track with tim.
@@nicotanoira9946 Simon sang it during the Avicii Tribute Consert, you can bet I was surprised and excited when I saw him with my own eyes, especially considering the fact that I heard this version a year before the official release. I always thought this version was better but both are still great :)
I have to say I think this one is slightly better than the one with Chris Martin. Don't get me wrong, I love the official one, but I also really like Simon's vocals here. It sounds more like Avicii (since Simon was on Waiting For Love)
agree I hope they release this version too... Chris Martin's Heaven just feels like song made by Coldplay... His vocal is attractive but it's characteristic is so coldplay-like. I miss this version
i dont understand, when you listen to the chris martin version, everything just sounds so unfinished compared to this? it sounds like a demo, genuinely baffled
Yes, Chris Martin sings in the wrong key. I don't know why they didn't use an autotune or something. The arrangement is also much better in this version with Simon
@@tobymaston I feel like Chris Martin Version brings out a middle ground between happy times and sad time vipe while this version is all about the feelings from the heart.
when avicii played the aldred version in umf 2015, i knew that that's it, a perfect masterpiece ... however at umf 2016 he played a downtuned chris martin version, which was still good, but i was a bit disappointed and just hoped he would return to aldred's vocals but mehhhh
I’ll admit Aldred’s version is more of Avicii’s style, and it’s fine but the original Coldplay version is what I personally enjoy, particularly since Chris Martin wrote this song.
Sounds more fresh and upbeat with Simon Aldred. I really cannot listen to the Chris Martin one even if it's the official or the one that was originally intended to be released. That version doesn't seem to fit well with the fast backing track and plus Chris pronounces all his I's like A's and I cant really hear what he's saying.
What a shame not using this version on Tim's last album! Shame on management! It could have been one of his greatest songs ever instead of being forgettable - Chris Martin sounding deflated and the tempo way too slow without setting up the last part of the song intended by Avicii in one last big hurrah or culmination of the song!
Eddie Grant hahaha both of you are deluded, avicii asked chris to be on this after they did a sky full of stars. Tim wanted chris’ version so respect his choice he made.
Chris was always the part of this song. This version is great, but i think that Chris Martin is way more able to project the right emotion of this song, he was with Tim when this happened. if only they made final version faster and in higher key.
@@samgeee2968 well its clear he wasnt happy with the chris version it was recorded years ago and didnt even put it on his ep. But whatever. I would have liked to see this version on the album

I don't think so, Chris version slightly sounds... off, like unfinished vocal. Also there are so many instruments that makes the song unique got changed and removed. I mean, Chris version can easily be remade with fl studio.
Chris Martin's vocals feel sloppy and unrefined in a sense. Simon Aldred's vocals are much more solid and the instrumental of this version is more finely tuned

Who else sang this
I truly believe due to Chris' personality, he wouldn't mind if Simon had sang the "final" version. Chris is super humble.

@Dayton Devin yea, been using kaldroStream for since december myself :)

Yep. With Simons vocals, it would be a definitive hit. Chris Martins vocals sometimes seem...off
This version is more of emotion while Chris Martin's one is more of joy. I like this one more tho
Agree.......
I'm with you. But i think there is a difference in key. So there seems like some more emotional notes in there as well :)

Please release this one! 😍
this version is so so much better, so much more emotion, gutted they released the chris martin version instead
i dont understand, when you listen to the chris martin version, everything just sounds so unfinished compared to this? it sounds like a demo, genuinely baffled
Avicii selected Martin as the final vocalist over Aldred, he tried it out with different vocalist. I agree though this version is much better
Actually , It’s Tim that he decided to release Chris Martin version.
This song needed to be a little bit faster
And there it is.
A masterpiece
Just tap on the three dots and tap on the playback speed.
Sry Chris Martin but this version with Simon Aldred is so much better!

I think this song's imperfection makes it perfect.

No it was aldreds vocals. At ultra 2016. :)
We all have two awesome versions of this masterpiece.
I am so sad that the slower tempo piece made it on the TIM album
I’ll admit Aldred’s version is more of Avicii’s style, and it’s fine but the original Coldplay version is what I personally enjoy, particularly since Chris Martin wrote this song.
As a cherry ghost superfan, this makes me happy!
Listen to Avicii "Run" ft. Simon aldred that song is similar to "4am".
Another song sang by Simon is "Run Run" (avicii demo).
Thanks Tim. Your music is part of my live forever. Rest in peace
This is beautiful, I've been attracted to this song

So true
So true buddy. His whole style is built around the the artists he chose to work with. Totally ruined one of his best songs with chris martin

Hell yeah, this one is a 100 times better
Someday...once I die... I will go to heaven and meet Avicii. And see my beagles.
This is better than the one they put on the album. Change my mind.
It’s not the one Avicii wanted on the album
where can i get this full version in his best quality?

that's the loved version, not the Chris Martin's version.
Much prefer Simon's version to Chris Martin's.
This Version is more avicii I think, but the martin Version is as good as this.
leonardo oliveira agreed. This one is more Avicii but I enjoy the Coldplay style crossover of the original.
