He is good, not as a first reciever. 5/8 or fullback would be his best spot.
@Albert_Br they're both a problem. Moses to 7 and Burton to 6. Those two together with their kicking games could get the blues out of trouble from anywhere

Nicho is average. Not good. He makes every day stock plays as a half. Nothing instinctive. Boring to watch.

You need glasses. Cherry Evens was the best, he got man of the match for a reason. He already had a try assist 4 minutes in, when it was 13 vs 13.

Hynes was the third string half-back after Cleary and Moses, add playing with 12 for 95% of the game you get that result. Other than the kicking game it hard to tell what would have happened had the send off not happened.

Interesting NRL round after Game 1 of Origin. I think that most teams with QLD Origin players backing up did not win, Dragons with Ben Hunt were the exception and Lomax earned himself a NSW jumper for Origin Game2.

WOW he didn't do anything wrong, guess Hindy didn't see him miss that kick. Who knows if they would have won the game in golden point. They seem the stronger team in the dying minutes. I feel for him, he hasn't been the same since he left Melbourne, maybe because he's had to shoulder the responsibility of the team. He's a far better player when he doesn't.
Nico was playing fullback at Melbourne storm, and he smash it I don’t think halfback is his preferred position .

QLD parochial supporter here. Certainly buying into the media rhetoric that Nicho is not yet ready for Origin.
Nathan Cleary being unavailable greatly reduces NSW chances to win the 2024 Origin series.
I remember DCE running sideways in an earlier Origin game [many years ago] and getting dropped. Very different player after changing his playing style so got selected.

Nsw should do what they always do, chop and change the team every game. If he’s good enough to be picked for game 1 then let him have a crack. Maybe it’s why qld are so successful, have nsw heard of pick and stick?
The QLD pick and stick is not a philosophy. They do it out of necessity. If any of their first choice players are available, they are in the team. At the moment, Moses is the best 7 we have. Don't buy that loyalty narrative from QLD.

Why is Hynes all of a sudden becoming the easy target or scapegoat for everything, the guy is copping an absolute hammering online by keyboard warriors and these so-called experts on fox and 9.
All this bashing must be extremely difficult to cope with, the guy is on a downward spiral from all the depression and performance anxiety because for some reason all eyes are on him. When did he become the saviour for NSW, and why is he solely to blame for any loss NSW or the Sharks lose.
It’s a team sport, not Nicho Hynes vs QLD or whatever club they are facing.
Have people forgotten that Cleary lost more than one origin series, same with moses last year when they brought him in they lost.
When DCE first started as an origin player he was in shambles before he became the player he is today, what about Hodges first game, have we forgotten that too, then he went on to be an awesome origin player for QLD.
Why do NSW supporters bash their players rather than support them, no wonder QLD owns us in Origin with this attitude we have.
Nicho is a confidence player, on his A-game he is absolutely brillant, he turned the Sharks around in 2022, winning the Dally M and finished 2nd, soft draw or not the previous 3 years the Sharks were very mid.
Again he led them to solid 2023 season and now his team is still sitting in the top 4 midway through the year.
But when he is down on confidence and under immense pressure he lacks the stoicism to put it aside at the moment and all this media bashing and keyboard heroes online being all smug doesn’t help his cause.
The gold coast newspaper had a full page picture of DCE on the back page when DCE left to come to Manly, they called him a FILTHY COCKROACH in the largest text they could fit.
The biggest problem NSW had was Nathan Cleary being unavailable. Massive loss.
Cleary was there last year, and the year before. The whole team lacks x-factor and points.
Reality is blues don’t have the players in key positions compared to maroons who are simply better period. It’s hard facts. Pick diff players, it won’t change the inevitable of maroons winning the series again and again.

2020, before Billy, 3 games in Qld. DCE half, Munster 5/8. NSW win 50 to 6 and 34 to 10 to win the series before Qld scrape home in game 3 to avoid a whitewash.
NSW have the players but Billy is just too switched on as a coach and NSW have had their share of bad luck a couple of times with injuries.

Very bad luck having Cleary out, turbo injury prone, not to sure what’s going on with Mitchell but as a footy fan I hope he comes back to himself. 3 huge losses for NSW, all 3 are game changers. Speaking now as a footy fan and not a QLD fan I would love to see NSW at full strength against QLD full strength..although the QLD in me would be pretty worried.

Did you not watch the game? Sharks backs making errors coming out of their own ends. Trindall completely missing the ball on a kick, wasting a challenge on it, which they could've used to overturn a Mulitalo dropped ball in their attacking zone AGAIN. Nobody putting kick pressure on that kick to Hamiso besides Trindall who STOPPED going for him for some reason? But it's Hynes fault lmao.

@@bacmup605 as lorenzogino pointed out Hynes gave away the penalty. Furthermore it is not that he missed the kick from the sideline. It was the pathetic effort that literally 1000 spectators could have made better effort.

Every try from the Sharks Nicho Hynes does not have any direct involvement compared to other number 7 of each team.. And some still talking about leaving him for game 2 or the Origin. Be serious guys and do it for the NSW fans. Moses is playing awesome, Cody walker great or even Renold playing for Broncos.

Hynes DOESN'T have what it takes for origin ,, even last night he pulled out of tackling , at least one of which cost his team a try. He hasn't got what it takes ,, original needs more than just skill. Can't blame the guy , he is in a club that only had success by cheating with locker room injections
