Great interviewer! How does she use the device though? Is it somehow connected with her brain?

Just came across your channel, absolutely love your interviewing style - perfect questions. Love the way you use humour in your interviews too.
Personally, I hope you end up writing for the ABC (if we give them back some funding) - not sure if print journalism is your thing, but I sure would love to see you up there with [in my opinion] the best!
I'm loving the stuff about FC too, and watching you use the AAC device. How long does it usually take you to write what you want to say (for example - is it as fast as typing, or faster)?

FC 4 me has allowed me to communicate at a rapid pace. when i independently type it is at around 6 words per minute max. would have taken me 5 times as long to finish my journalism degree. I have many partners who can communicate at this fast pace with me. So when preparing an interview as such i will have a communication partner facilitate me spelling out the words then program it into the device... i am about to use FC for ad-lib questions. feel free to ask any more questions. have great day marlena

I did actually see an article you wrote for the ABC where (I think in the comments) you explained the time taken for you to type if you do so yourself. I am pretty interested in adaptive technologies, and I would include FC under that banner. I have no experience with FC though - my background is largely in people disabled by burn injuries and I have a close friend who works with and uses adaptive technology for the vision impaired.
On another topic (from something you said elsewhere about people often seeing your physical disability and assuming you have an intellectual disability), it always amazes me that people assume people with CP to be stupid. I'm used to them being the solid HD students in Law!!!! I guess I have been lucky enough to meet people with CP, many haven't.

      theaacjournalist oh, one other thing!
in another comment on that article, I think, you mention finding the word 'inspirational' weird. I agree!! I am a burn survivor myself (you can't even see my scars!), and when people used to say it to me it used to make me want to vomit on them.

Stella is awesome ..... inspiration is a term which justifies other people helping those that have a "hard" situation in their life. to me is says more about limited expectations others have of me then what i actually achieve. my interviews will now have more FC involved as i have my degree and my credibility has been proven at a tertiary level. about to start a membership website where ill show case my writings and other stuff. this should be up around January.
