As I am planning to visit the UK and go to birmingham by train in DecemberI found this clip very useful to watch. It seems things are slightly different from the netherlands so have to figure out how to do it. Thanks for making this clip.

have you ever been on one of northern's class 195s or 331s? the only 2 differences are the 195s are dmus and they have 2 or 3 carriages, 331s are electric trains and have 3 or 4 carriages. nice that your channel picture is lincoln station, my hometown

To be fair, £11.80p (with railcard) isn't too bad for that distance.
I used to frequently travel between Milton Keynes Central and Coventry, back in the Virgin days, and would try to time it so I could get there direct via Rugby on a Voyager or Pendolino, rather than take the slow way round on London Midland via Northampton.
As I used to get an on-the-day, off-peak, open return, that would cost me (and still does!) around £24/£25.

But they are soon to be replaced by the Class 805 and Class 807 AT300s which are coming into service from next year and the Avanti West Coast Class 221 to be cascaded to Crosscountry or to be stored.

They will go to CrossCountry but I don't know they'll replace the XC HSTs

Thanks for this, a good video! I don't know about everybody else, but I found Virgin fine. (And this is essentially a Virgin outfit). And Avanti pricing is outrageous.They are charging about 3x the old Virgin fare. Get shot of this dreadful franchise I say!
