    Brady was rather scared
    Of bathrooms for the impared
    The reason was not
    Of what people thought
But of the frog that always stared

+bryce knight It's not a perfect rhyme with an American accent either (any of them). Don't really know what you're talking about. I'm sure some accents make the difference much more pronounced, though.

I can say that in my accent (a variation of midwestern) I say "not" and "thought" pretty much identically- but I'm only one person.

3 years late, but as a licensed aircraft mechanic, let me tell you that a single coin could and would easily cause catastrophic damage to a jet engine, whether fully spooled up or just starting. What tends to happen is the fan and compressor blades do chew up the object, but those blades get torn apart and the fragments of both get sucked into the hot section where the fuel ignition happens.
So yes, the little old Chinese lady who is tossing coins into the engine should be stopped immediately.

The express line is for 12 items or less, the other lane is for any number.
I was in the lane with over 12 items, the guy behind me had three.

On planecrash corner : I touch the outside of plane too before going aboard. I think it´s less of a superstition and more of psychological thing to me ; to me, it´s reassuring to have felt the metal surface, as if to say "this is solid and wont fall to pieces". In a way, it may be the analytical side of the brain trying to reassure the one producing the emotional side ("oh my god we´re gonna crash")... maybe it creates an illusion of control or proximity to the machine, I dont know...

I'm very firmly in Team Self-Checkout but the only major issue I have with them is that most supermarkets require you to get a member of staff to 'confirm' your bag before you can even start if it's heavy enough. I tend to carry a backpack with me everywhere, and in there I keep a few essentials (umbrella, Kindle, external battery for my phone, water, etc) so it's always heavy enough to trigger this bag check, but I also don't want to use one of the supermarket's plastic bags because it's 5p each time plus it contributes (in a negligible way) towards ecological problems. I wish more supermarkets would do like Waitrose, where you don't need to have your bag checked, and trust that most customers will be honest, and that the security cameras will take care of the minority of customers that would try to smuggle items into their bags without paying for them.

1:24:47 No the titanic was not found by a private enterprise. The titanic was found after the military hired Robert Ballard to find the sunken nuclear submarines USS Thresher and USS Scorpion. Ballard agreed to the search on the condition that he could use any extra time to locate the titanic. They used the hunt for the titanic as the cover story for looking for the subs. After locating both subs they noticed that they left a large debris trail on the ocean floor 9,800 feet down. This observation allowed them to locate the titanic much faster as they could just look for a large debris trail rather than the much smaller hull of the ship.
and now I am wondering if they are using MH370 as a cover-up for something.

I've long felt, much like Grey, that I'll live an exceptionally long life; I've had that notion since early childhood, and at times it's made me sad - nobody wants to outlive people they love or know. It seems very lonely, especially if I'm old & invalid for much of it. It's also not something I really mention to anyone either, so to hear Grey discuss this was really a bit relieving. My fascination with life extension and quality of life improvement in regard to the body, stems from this idea I've long had. I agree that it's a worthwhile area to explore. If we can extend, suspend, or maintain life with science,I believe that the benefits are immense.

There is this classic portuguese book, Death with Interruptions by José Saramago which is an analysis to the end of death. It's taken seriously, in a sense that it isn't presented as a magical thing, even though it happens due to surreal circumstances - suddenly and affecting everyone. The author is stingy and salty which gives off a funny vibe to the story. Just a rec. It's biased towards the >wanting to live forever is evil< meme but still enjoyable

I think, for 37:05 you have to take into consideration how much of your video they've used, and what content they use in the rest of it. If it's just an entire video of stolen stuff, then that's bad. If they've used the entirety of your video in theirs, then that's bad. If, however, they use 50% or less of a video, and gave credit, and they expand on its content, then it's usually alright.

Hey so, if you're on an airliner and the engine explodes or some other thing happens, do document it however you can.
Mostly so that if the airplane goes down with all hands, maybe they can somehow pull the data off your burnt hulk of a phone and get a better idea of what happened.
Imagine if we had people on some of the great mysterious plane crashes who took photos of the problem before they smashed into the ground at a few hundred mph?

One thing you didn't talk about in your "Why Die?" video is telomeres. A telomere is "a region of repetitive nucleotide sequences at each end of a chromosome."
Telomeres are significant in aging as every time mitosis(the regular regeneration of tissue or tissue by cellular replication) occurs, the telomeres wear away a little bit, and as you age, the telomeres decrease in size(due to a decreasing amount of the hormone telomerase), leading to what is essentially 'death by old age.' So after all diseases and illnesses are eliminated, this will likely be the last cause of death in humans.
Now I don't know too much about it, just that it if the solution was to make more telomerase, it wouldn't be as significant. I also may have made a mistake in my explanation, so please correct me if I have.

    • @MrTridac

Telomeres are just one of many, many other mechanisms that lead to ageing. It's actually not even the main cause. If you would just increase the number of telomerases you'd get any cancer you can think of. The main reason for ageing is, that it is an intentional process encoded in the DNA. It's not a flaw or error.

There's an enzyme called telomerase that can extend telomeres. It's a problem, but it's nowhere near the biggest one.

MrTridac whatever gives you that idea? The medical consensus is very much that ageing is the accumulation of damage over time.

John N Ok, thanks for the explanation.
I thought aging was due to the fact it is disadvantagous evolutionarily to have a longer lifespan as the energy that would go into thatbaould be better used increasing survival chances prior to reproduction.

      @danochy5522 7 ปีที่แล้ว

And therefore there's no need for a natural mechanism to stop aging

smaller you go less detail you can percieve
if you're trying to cram a lot of detail on as little space as possible it'll look ugly
that's why emoji is best left simplistic
    more simplistic,easier to look

Family guy gave me the idea but i think it's actually a good way to settle the nudity problem. If it has at any point been financially supported in any way by the government then it's ok.

Oh, man, you're missing out. Once you get the hang of them, they're so much faster than a normal cashier, and you can bag your groceries however you like. Bonus; you can do all your shopping without ever interacting with another human being.

I've been wondering about what should be fair use when it comes to using other peoples content. Especially after starting my podcast, since it has an intro and outro using other peoples content. How short should it be? Why are 15 seconds better than 45 seconds? How transformative should it be? Should I not even risk it, and just forget about this weird gimmick?
I stopped doing it for a while, but it felt weird, and I started again. It's not like I really care if TH-cam gives our earnings to someone else, because there are no earnings, and probably never will be.

Tell you what, guys, I really enjoy listening to the podcast while I driving in the American or Euro truck simulator, but, I will leave the video playing in the background (in silence, LOL) for the views. Cheers!

I've heard stories of youtube pretending that a human is talking to the creator.
    While it's actually a bot.
I'd complain a bit more. Until you are certain you have a real human being on the other side that can give a real reason.

I can't quite recall who it was but some other youtuber told us that you get a warning about legal repercussions after you submit your second objection to the claim.
So I guess you have to take them to court if they don't back up.

Disclaimer: DO NOT read past this point if you have a problem with thinking about the source of stem cells. I am warning you that this is not something that should be read by anyone that hates violence and gore. If that is you, just walk away, do not read this.
I think the primary debate over life-extending research is at the moment it seems to revolve around stem-cell research. Even if you made it a voluntary operation to only take stem cells from people over the age of 21 there would still be the question of human trafficking. How many people would be kidnapped, sent to a country where there weren't background checks on the source of the cells and then sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars? How many countries would have no problem with using aborted fetuses? Imagine hospitals and daycares having to greatly increase security in the pregnancy ward. This is something that can only ever be legal in a world where every single country needs to be vigilante on the source of every single stem cell. Imagine a lab that when a test fails and they destroy the cells, they don't write down that they destroyed the cells, instead they buy some blackmarket "early-childhood" stemcells and slap the certified, registered, confirmed legal label onto the stolen stem cells. We have all sorts of fiction on this topic, The Island (2005) was a PG version, while I take the story in Full Metal Alchemist more seriously. That is the kind of thing that would be done in 3rd world countries. Entire cities of people would be ground into a tiny vile of Elixir of Youth. Do not pretend we can solve this. I would bet that at least 10,000 children over the age of 1 are being sold for stem cells on the black market every single year. That isn't even unreasonable because 8 million children go missing every year, we have no way of knowing what happens to them.
Even if stem-cell research is completely outlawed, if billions of dollars start to be dumped into life-extension then scientists are going to start working in "dark labs" that don't care about any law, and they sell their results to the highest bidder. Don't you think scientists would do anything to get a leg up on their competition? I bet there are plenty of scientists that would buy research data from these human traffickers by telling themselves that all research was done with the stem cells from aborted fetuses. Or there would be stem cell traffickers that buy stem cells and tell themselves that same story, they may even believe that no one over the age 1 is ever ground down into a tiny vile of white.
There are many things done in secret that are disgusting. It is easy to tell me it doesn't happen, but, believe it or not, people have done worse with far less money on the table.
