My wife is 8 months pregnant and as she was driving today, she got involved in a terrible head collision accident. Her car was pushed 15 metres away while she was inside. She was displaced from the driving seat to the passenger seat. I thank God she survived without any injuries except swellings. After checkups, the baby is 100% okay. God is great.
I thank Him for y’all’s delivery. I’m listening for encouragement. My father was my pastor he lost 25 pounds before he went to the doctor and he passed from liver cancer. We were promised months but God called him from pain and suffering in less than a week. He was a nice man of God. His last words were My Lord. It hurts but I watched him suffer. He needed to rest.
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants. ❤

Ms Mahalia Jackson was part of my family, My mother Gloria Griffin, of The Roberta Martin Singers, and The Caravans toured all over with Ms. Mahalia, she was my brothers God Mother, she helped to raise us, My Grand Father Rev. Dr. William Herbert Brewster wrote this song for her, I hear her voice but I also hear my Grand Fathers heart in the words. Mr. Joshua Nelson sounds exactly like " Ms. Haley " we called her affectionately. She was so amazing I knew her as a child and, they all loved the Lord with their heart and soul. I really miss her so much, she was also very funny, and loved children even she never had any of her own. I will always love her she taught me many things about life. I am planning to write a book, and produce a film about the Gospel singers. I have many stories about the real lives of these Great Gospel Men and Women of our time.
Try again with this made up story. This song was written by Clara Ward and her siblings and mother who she was in a group with at the time. They wrote it based on an experience they had driving through the southern states en route to Georgia and encountering racist white men. They were taken by these men and were litterally lucky to make it out alive. For those who don't know, Clara Ward was Aretha Franklin's stepmother and Aretha was hugely influenced by her, which is why she chose to do a remake of this song for her first gospel album. Aretha's version has become the version everyone know and sing today. Clara was a very influential gospel singer at the time, this song just became more popular by Mahalia because of her amazing rendition of it. Much like what Whitney did with "I will always love you". Most people don't know it was written by Dolly Parton years before Whitney song it.

It is amazing to see this true black Hebrew singing How I Got Over. Joshua was born in Ethiopia and also sings Hebrew music. We are the true children of Israel. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord and he did.

Tonight this showed up in my TH-cam sidebar, and as I hadn't heard a male solo version of "How I Got Over" before, I decided to satisfy my curiosity, and am mighty glad I did! He really brought back days when I went to Church with my granny who will soon turn 90 yrs. and they really had church and didn't care what anyone said. I normally do not much care for singers who choose to imitate another singer when performing - especially if they are singing a song that was a hallmark of said famous singer's lifetime of singing. I was prepared to roll my eyes when I began listening. I was very wrong. It is very hard to put into words the sort of living spirit that Mahalia Jackson brought to each and every song she sang. She lived her faith and it radiated from her soul, though her throat and on to Jesus! Somehow, Mr. Nelson, in studying the singing of Mahalia Jackson, has tapped into that light and presents it extremely well. Yes, he deliberately takes on every one of her mannerisms and vocal stylings like any good impressionist, but he takes it WAY beyond that by putting his spirit into the song. His first few words sent chills up my spine because they carried the authority and majesty of Mahalia's voice. I have NEVER seen or heard a singer do such justice to another singer. I would love to witness this man in concert, if he is still singing (and I hope he is). God's grace and peace be upon him!

As I listening this song, I know God has always been with me through hard times and good times, now my beloved daughter has gone to glory a month ago, the hardest thing I ever had to endure , go into the church for her Homegoing service, then turn around and go into her apartment knowing she’ll want be living there anymore, packing her belongings, I could still smell her scent on her clothes, God has given me strength to do it All, thank God for your Son that died on Calvary to save us, thank for Fifty years I had with her, I get to keep the love, Bescause my beloved I’ll see you again, Lisa my Sweet Daughter , your mother Juliet, she call me Ms. Daisy

He was the Minister of Music at my former church home Hopewell Baptist Church in Newark, NJ. Him and Brother Youngblood put on a concert every Sunday and Pastor Guice and the late Reverend Oates preached the word so powerfully. Every 2nd, 3rd, 4th and God willing, fifth Saturday of the month my dad the late Deacon James would cook and feed the whole community (most of the time out of his own pocket). Lord I miss those days
