I lost a beautiful cat to an eagle after 30 plus years of no issues letting them oitside just during the day. So,getting ideas for a wonderful,fun catio to build this spring. PS-Even though I'm located in N Ontario Canada,I'm surrounded by Finlanders,great carpenters,added pressure for me to do a nice job.

With the exception of you not painting the wood that was fastened to the house the same color as the house, I think you did a GREAT job. I could not have done better job. CHEERS.
I am planning a natural grass floor catio too. Was it difficult to level? Did you have to use any fancy footings or green treated lumber for ground contact? Cat is growing impatient with me. I also am connecting with window around the corner so this viseo really helped me visualize how that was going to work.
Great that the video was helpful! We put insulating fabric between the lower parts of the elements and the ground. The wooden parts of the element are entirely pressure-impregnated wood. It is almost 2 years since construction and the wooden parts are well preserved.

I love this so much! A couple questions as I consider / plan for mine: 1. Mowing - is mowing that area a pain? 2. Do the kitties prefer to use the bathroom outside or still use their litter boxes?
Thanks! 😊 Mowing the lawn is pretty good with a trimmer, so it doesn't require too much Our cats don’t make their needs at Catio. Will come inside to use their sandboxes 👍
This winter was really long and snowy here in Finland and this winter was already the second winter for this CATIO. So far there has been no need to fix anything. Well preserved over the winter 😊
Wonderful Catio for your babies, but what you really NEED is GREENERY for the cats to have shade and to use their imaginations, i.e. hide from birds they "might" catch, etc.
Wondering if you had problems with building this right up against property lines? Zoning/Building depts would possibly consider this "encroachment". Depends on your jurisdiction -- and your next door neighbor. In 40 plus years of building, I've seen some people get in trouble for this - and adjoining property owners getting weird & litigious. Otherwise, looks great - getting ready to build something for my 6 kiddos hopefully in next couple months - if I survive this move that is! Thanks for video.
The couple lives in Finland so the rules are most probably different there than in for example your country. I can only speak about my own country but here if the current neighbor is fine with the build then everything’s set in stone. Then if they move and someone else moves in they have very little to say about because they knew it would be there when moving in.
Pero esas repisas son muy estrechas y no son cómodas ,les gustan camas mullidas para amasar y de unos 50cm de ancho .Yo vivo en un primero y tengo rascadores XXL grandes para que se tumben juntos mis 3 gatos y sin red porque no se caen ni quieren saltar .Los saco a pasear como perros y viven muuuy felices

@Shay Laster I found out that they're called the smokey black ragdolls. Or atleast we can call them smokey black cats, because their fur look smokey.
I'd put clear corrugated sheeting on roof.
