How do you exit out of the Working From Home Information.txt once you have it open? I have to kill the entire terminal to get out of it...I'm sure there's a better way as I watched you do it in seemingly one click... Also, THANK YOU for making this video. Hey there, seeing "permission denied" after connecting to TryHackMe's OpenVPN could be due to incorrect credentials or firewall restrictions. Ensure you're using the exact username and password provided in the room instructions, not your TryHackMe login.
@@mrashco what I meant is, I was following step by step exploiting SMB, so when we found the John cactus it was like letter, how do I return to the terminal where I can issue commands to finish up the tasks
29:25 - It still asked me for the cactus password even though I had the key. I guessed the password but in the real world it wouldn't be that easy. I still don't know why it asked me the password.
Did you pass through the id_rsa? That should be the "password" in this instance. I'm assuming if it prompted you for ta password then the id_rsa wasn't passed or accepted... make sure to change perms also.

This is supposed to be a beginner room, it's labelled "easy" and yet THM have everyone running off to YT walkthroughs where they're using advanced commands. It's a failure on THM's part that they can't seem to teach the knowledge that they claim they can teach, and defeats the whole point of subscribing in the first place.
Teaching this stuff is a tricky balance where everyone's at different levels. What's easy to some might not be easy to others. Unfortunately I don't think anyones perfected teaching cyber/hacking as there's just so much to cover and so many ways to cover it all.
I am getting "Error opening local file id_rsa" when running get id_rsa id_rsa - any ideas? Did you do anything during that pause? EDIT: I didn't login to the smbclient as root on my kali machine - this resolved it
i get same error when i'm doing sudo smbclient... is it not did you mean when you say login as root ? edt: nevermind i restart the machine and it's done
Hey I wanted to know the method to login using ssh, I usually do it the default tryhackme way but it wasn't working with the default password using syntax ssh tryhackme@[machineip] password: tryhackme what did you do to resolve this?
