Y'all know this is just my opinion, right?

That was smart, lmao

"The respective vocal styles of each band member, they don't vary all that widely"
*HeLLOOooO EEVil KnIEvilllll*
Yeah, Ambrose definitely has his own thing going on
yes, I don't agree with that one bit
FR, I honestly really love the range of vocals here! Whether it’s Le Risque or the title track, you can hear how everyone brings their own voice to the table in unique and fun ways. I wouldn’t blame someone for not being able to differentiate between some of them, but for me it’s most often perfectly clear who’s singing and there’s a lot to appreciate there :)
I think he might be referring to Joey and Cavs, which I think is a little fairer. He's good, I like him, but they can be samey.
This is stuck in my mind since hearing it. Like a musical tic I have to vocalise every now and then.
How do the boys continue to sound so sonically diverse but at the same time consistent. Long live the Gizz
Because they are the most consistent band
IM A SILLY BILLY 🧙
Best line lol😂
yes!
Yes you are!😊
this is the most “strong 8” sounding “light 7” i’ve heard from you
We'll just go ahead and say it's an 8
I def would've given this album a strong 8. I really like this album!!!!!!
But it said decent 7
Why does this have to be the comment that shows up below the video 😐 omg
the review for jpegmafias ildmlfy sounded the opposite of this 😭
2:48 I will not stand for this Ambrose erasure
Melon is a repeat offender. He ignored Ill Times too
For me, this a super strong 8. It has such a great vibe, the instrumentation is crazy and the songwriting in general is creative as hell all over this record. It sounds like a group of good buds having the best weekend of their life.
edit: I liked this a lot better than fishing for fishies, and thats one of my favs.
Thanks, I'm gonna have to listen to this now. FFF is possibly my fav. It's actually the album got me into collecting all of their albums, not Nonagon as was many others' entry!
I agree, strong 8. It really scratches an itch that I didn't know I had, just relentlessly fun and energizing.
They have come a pretty good way even since Fishies this one has a rock and roll blues vibe
Agreed! FFF has always been my favorite or close to it and this one has such a similar vibe. Great new record, stoked to see these guys next month!
@@Michael69same for me bro
Would’ve given it a 10 if you were a silly billy

SILLEH BILLEH!
I fuckin loved this album, it feels like such a ”just some dudes in a studio” project
If you haven't seen the making of documentary definitely go check it out, that's exactly the vibe
@@ravenkliff oh i have, loved it!
i really like the singing and lyrics on this album. guitars too
Just some guys bein' dudes and hittin' that record button.
"This and a beer" kinda album.
Absolutely goofy fun. Much needed album from the boys with a 10 year discography of "we're all gonna fucking die".
how in the FUCK is the title track your least favorite song?!?
He's bald.
he ALWAYS does this shit
ALWAYS its always the best song on the album thats in his worst its always that way
I don't know if it was just all the hype killing it for me but that's also my least favourite track on the album. I don't understand what makes it stand out for most people.
@@SLW93 personally I like the almost honkytonk piano and chord progression. I like the group vocals, some of the hooks..
That was a glowing review... for a light 7?
Hey it’s in the name
At least it's not a 4 or 1
Melon is angry that his Silly Billy status is revoked.
Really fresh modern blues *that isn't just some rehash* , it has cool creative ideas that make it unique. The combined vocals at the end of songs like Hog Calling Contest and Le Risque are pretty phenomenal imo. The vibe is just so awesome
Kicks ass
The girls can have their Brat summer. Us guys are having a Silly Billy summer
hopefully he likes next week’s king gizzard record better
😂😂😂😂
I'm pretty certain at this point that what any of us think about this new KGLW album certainly will not stop it from becoming their most popular and universally recognizable release. The marketability of this one is off the charts.
No kidding. It could be on classic rock stations tomorrow.
This album feels so mature and authentic
I felt like a lot of the lyrics and melodies were clearer when I listened on vinyl and it really drove up the vibes they were going for. Easily an 8 for me. Love this band.
I just saw Ween in Spokane and there were hundreds of people wearing Gizz merch.
KGLW and Ween are so similar in being unpredictable and playing every genre, both are legends.
Ranking albums seems pointless when you know the live version is going to blow your mind
I'll throw Geese in the mix here too & they are opening for Gizz this leg of the tour!
I just saw them at forest hills night 2 and saw at least 5 ween shirts
Field of Vision is one of my favourite KGLW tracks of all time
While Lukey seems to be taking after his bandmates as he steps up to the mic, I think that Stu, Amby, Joey, and Cookie each have their own nuances to their singing styles that help them each to stand our and make their respective marks on the songs. Cookie and Joey are especially in fine vocal form here, but everyone shines. Stu on Le Risque, Amby on Field of Vision, Joey on Sad Pilot, and Cookie on Rats in the Sky, just to name some examples.
Can't wait for the Sorcs 80 review!
Sorcs clears this record every day of the week, as per usual when pitting Gizz records against our 4D overlords
@@Jake-cj8yo if he reviews it we all know it's getting a light 6 even though it's an 8 for sure.
I didn't really like it :( haven't really like an osees album since 2018. I was so into them back then
This is a 10 for me. One of the most awe-inspiring and bombastic albums I've ever heard. It's a tremendous sonic journey through numerous paradises.
Right 🗣🗣
Kicks ass
YEAHHH agreed!!
This album just slaps. It's so good!!
As a big hog fan, it's a whole out of hog for me.
If they don’t play Hog Calling Contest in Fayetteville, we infest the rat’s nest.
C U there!
They just played it at Red Rocks (9/8/24). :)
@@skele-eleton Was there for the stream team! So awesome they’ll definitely play it now. Fayetteville will be our 3 of 4 shows this tour! So grateful for this amazing band.
after this, the IDPLMAL, changes, MotU, and sketches review I'm convinced he just does not bother to take the time to process anything king gizzard makes. so many of the complaints are so odd to me, like saying all of it's a bit too similar to itself but at the same time not caring for the mixed and new vocal styles brought by joey and some more airy stuff from stu. also I feel like being someone who consumes so much music, and probably so frequently, and taking less than a week to bring out a review, is kind of leaning towards initial impressions rather than actually bothering to digest any of it. it's a problem I have with a lot of his reviews, I feel like a lot of it is just not "getting" what they're going for and then condemning them for doing that. every time it's either "this is too similar" or "this is too different", and it's the case for a lot of his reviews I've followed. I'm certainly biased but even then for albums I don't like, like a ton of eminem's stuff I hate but judging it for being crass or too ridiculous, even when that's kinda his whole deal.
Agree
I'm glad I was not the only one who thought this could have been a classic rock album.... I honestly thought it sounded like the Foghat record Fool for the City
LOVE this album. Just might be my favorite of the year so far.
It's a decent 8 from me
Bruh a 7. I swear to god this guy kills me. Hard 8 possibly lite 9. Such a good album
I think a 7 is fair. It’s a good Album, I don’t think it touches Polydondwanaland though.
This is the only band where i don't expect them to top their last album. They're gonna do what they want, and they'll most likely put out an album you'll really dig, so just enjoy the journey.
Most fun album of the year, really enjoyed this one. Its at least an 8 for me.
Sounds a like a slight cold. I hope you get better soon.
I feel fine thanks tho

@@DEAKY0921because this is all subjective
The fact that you're calling it a "top 10" album within a single band's discography is hilarious and incredible. We feast like kings and queens in this fanbase.
@@timothybailey2094 every lp from an other band is a top 10 album
I agree. I’d put somewhere between 4-8.
That joke, the one you're about to post. It's not funny. Talk about the album.

You’re too late, I’m afraid. We all made a silly billy already.
Glad you enjoyed the record! I liked it too, but I agree on the same-iness feeling of the album. For me, that took the form of feeling like the album overstayed its welcome by like two tracks. And for everyone saying he spoke pretty highly for a decent 7, the album is fun, but it's not awe-inspiring or game-changing. It's just another solid record from King Gizz in a year where we've seen plenty of great throwback rock albums (Cindy Lee, Jack White, MGMT to an extent, and the Lemon Twigs album that I did not care for).
0:48 he pronounced melbourne the melburnian way!

Is an Osees SORCS 80 review coming?

ya dont get it, and it shows.
This goes up there with Infest the Rats Nest for me. Brilliantly executed theme and sound. CANNOT WAIT to hear "Hog Calling Contest" live in Fayetteville Arkansas (home of the hogs).
Great. Now review osees!
The fun-ness and brightness of the album was my main take away from this album. Definitely a 8/10 for me.
I saw daily blues live in Amsterdam before the album dropped was very exciting to hear it on the album definitly my favorit song of the album!
This album really really grew on me, the details in the songs are very well done it’s basically their take on rock and roll with this one
No mention of my favourite song off the album, the title track 🥲
Damn, didn't expect logic to get a 7, great video melon.
I fucking loved this album. 9.5/10 for me. Super enjoyable all the way through, love their blues rock stuff
what a great notification to wake up to... been waiting 3 weeks for this one.
Wow that was almost as funny the 6 millionth time as it was the first time
from an australian.. thank you for correctly pronouncing "melbourne" 😎
this is a good take. not as epic as some of their other albums but solid and fun.
I love the moment of rising and Zenith, just listened a few times and its such a raw feeling
YEAHHHHH! love this record. LOVE KING GIZZ. always love to hear your opinion.
This album is the gizz album that I kinda needed. Love a lot of their other stuff, but the lighter tone is a very welcoming change. Something I needed at this point in my life.
Anyway I hear all kinds of garage rock in this one. Some early Steve Miller Band, with other tracks giving heavy Jack White vibes. Can't wait to catch these guys live in September!!
I know this comment will never see the light of day, but have you ever heard of the solo project for Tame impalla keyboardist GUM. They just put out an album that's got so much of this vibe + some electro funk. Would recommend if yall like this thing
I rarely 100% agree with him. usually i disagree a lot but I think that assesment is actually bang on. Good record but ya i agree about the sameyness. One fun thing about it is guessing whos singing though
Okay, I came into this expecting the worst. However, I really like your input in this review. You pissed me off with the Ataraxia comments. You have redeemed yourself.
My 3 year old asked me while watching this if Anthony Fantano is a good boy and I said "no he's not s good boy"
Favorite Gizzard Album in a bit, but I'm a sucker for that folksy bluegrass sound with grungey production so I was always gonna love this one.
Omg bro, thank you for reviewing it
Man hearing the entirety of the album I’m blue that they didn’t have any actual BLUESY songs in it would have been nice
Waiting for this band to pull out the steel guitar and do a true country album.
One of my favorite albums of the year.
Should be a 8 or a 9
if they titled this flight b841 you would've given this an 8
a light one specifically
in my opinion this is one of their most listenable albums yet to a non gizz fan. The vibe all around is so great, no weak points in my opinion, super consistent record.
Many grateful dead type guitar licks, love it
I'd say actually Ambrose does not have a similar voice to Stu, like at all. Nor really to anyone else singing out there right now! Insanely unique!
I loved this album, one of their best in my opinion. Love the direction they’re going! I really miss you please wake up soon :(
Decent 7? This is an 8 at its worst. I will however take it. Thanks melon. You silly billy.
NEVER HEARD THIS BAND... DOPE VIBES!
What about the new Osees LP?
I'm just a confused person genuinely asking, what are these comments talking about?
Someone said in another comment that they are just kanye fans trying to troll Anthony.
@Paula63036 that explains a lot.
@@Paula63036makes sense, being unfunny and repeating the same stuff over and over again is very on brand for them
The guitars sound so good!!
This might not be on the year end list but this album is so so so fun. I've been showering to this album all weekend.
Much better than most of their recent stuff
It’s pretty obvious The Bluesbreaker Beatles style laced throughout. The Guitar is the obvious front runner in volume and the bass player is rocking Paul’s bass
So will the ultra 85 review ever happen
We want the Ultra 85 review melon
This album is a complete surprise and a complete joy.
Is it coincidence fathers day is coming up here in Australia, it has 70's Dad-rock all over it
Haveyou ever tried The Night Flight Orchestra? Fantastic stuff!
Vocalsl performances on this LP is reminiscent of the beatles so few band these days seems to embrace the power of harmonic vocals as good as the king does on this one. Other artist that comes to mind his the magnificent Rosalie cunningham coming out later this year with her third solo album. Handling all instrumentation except for drums and percussion on her last album, producing the album, and if it wasnt enough she always sing miraculously well. By the way if you ever read this anthony take her stuff for a spin even her lyrical parts are singular too her. Really i dont remember having been so hype about an artist that much since beginning this odyssey with musiic, 20 years ago. Keep up the passion.
absolutely agree on the vocals sounding like The Beatles with their harmonies, I think a big credit goes to Cookie who sounds exactly like John Lennon, its crazy
instrumentation was fire too
@@thisbubblygoodness7611 it s rare that an instant banger like this still grows on me with each listen gotta be the large vessel of sound and the first thought i had was, they have so much fun how can i not enjoy people having so much fun doing the thing i like best.
.
I fucking love this album
Damn I love this band so much, needed this album really bad
Great album review.
Been listening to this on my commute recently, good shit. Raw feel maybe the best.
personally i'd rate it a little higher but i can't argue too much against a light 7. And while a do to an extent agree with the point on the voices not varying all that wildly, without knowing the band as well as i do , i think i would get Joey, Lukey and Cavs mixed up. but Stu, Ambrose and Cook have incredibly unique and powerful vocal performances in this album. Especially Cook, his voice fits a very retro 60's 70's sound that i adore throughout this album.
Someone pointed out, i think on r/KGATLW, that Stu is introducing a light growl to his vocals borrowed from the metal work, which really fits the fuzzy guitars, best used in the ending of le risque imo. Using it heavy on the very end of the album I'm not sure i dig that much though.
And Ambrose is just fantastic. always has been, always will be.
King Gizzard as a band get a strong 10
As a gizzard fan id agree with the 7. The first 2 tracks are ok, raw feel is ok as well but i really like everything from field of vision to flight b741, than sad pilot is ok and the last 2 are great.
Maybe those 4ish songs im not super into will grow on me
to anyone reading this, its an old one by internet standards but please listen to "Fantasy black channel" by "Late of the Pier". its one of my favourites
Sorry guys but these wake up comments are just annoying.. yall are boring
yeah.. sorry i’m a new viewer, I don’t really get it 😭
@@camomileandtumericthere’s nothing to get
