      The weathering, plus the green paint gives it a real thunderbird 2 vibe.

      My first thought was this was a Thunderbird 2 kit bash. Funny, 'cause when watching the cartoon I never actually realized how much they look alike.

      Yeah... But.... That makes it a decent model/replica. Not a real life version of the best replica available.
      (I'm not having a go at your comment)

    They managed to make a 15 minute movie and then filled the rest with credits and hypnotoad

    I totally agree, lighting etc with miniatures is so good, I love analogue! Even lighting a 3D print in my opinion and a quick photo achieves results that would be hard or very time consuming in CGI. Also, great to move the light and model around by hand etd. Hope to get my 3D printer in the new year.

    Incredible work. I didn't need to see the finished movie, these behind the scenes videos are super exciting.

    The props,practical effects, special effects, makeup, etc are brilliant, but the actual storyline didn't really do it for me.

      Yep, watched it after yesterday's Tested Video, and it just seemed like everything happened just because they wanted to reference the cartoon, not because it was part of a plot. They also just cut without an ending either out of necessity or to get that Zapp monologue, but the same thing could have worked by making a full, short plot and having unfinished threads...

      Afonso Lucas I guess that's what they were going for? I enjoyed it don't get me wrong but it seriously pissed me off lol. I hope they make tons of new episodes though! I love futurama and this is a reasonable facsimile that will certainly improve with time if given the chance. I've been hoping the cartoon would come back for a third run but who knows. Netflix should pick it up!

    Sometimes I wish Tested would go more in-depth regarding the technology that they are showing.(Especially when I see Tested getting access to such great events/places/etc) I find the masking and motion control techniques mentioned in the video really intriguing, but the video merely glossed over them. :/
    Maybe its just that I do alot of personal reading into these things, and that Tested's intrests are congruent with mine......
    Anyway keep up the good work guys!

      @luiyanle 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe its just the style of content that Norm is. His explanations are often very simple to understand, trying his best to simplify complex ideas. I just enjoy the "geekiness" (no offence intended) to things covered by Will, Joey, and occasionally Adam.

    The Planet Express Ship actually changes its lore throughout the show. The original seasons reference the propulsion of the ship as being designed by the professor. In the movies and the later episodes though the ship is described as both being hand-built by The Professor and also is referenced as possessing the LX package, implying that the ship may have been hand built but it could also be from a kit or that perhaps there are more out there and the ship was sold en masse after the processor designed it.

      I haven't seen the film yet, but I don't think they used the ones they made on Tested, judging by the fact that they also made a "realistic Farnsworth" costume, but in the film they use a completely different one.

    With all the respect, modern movie making and rendering software (vray, Corona, Arnold) can render photo-realistic lighting with no big problem. We all hate shitty CGI but most people don't realize that good CGI is something that they don't notice.
    Watch some "making of" and "post processing" videos here on youtube and you will understand that CGI is now 50% of any modern movie, and that's ok.

    I wish someone would give me the financing to build a live action Space Opera that I know every nerd on the planet wants. I would make Billions. With an S. It would be bigger than the Super Bowl, every episode.

    This type of approach caters almost entirely to the people creating it rather than the end result. I can totally appreciate the fun of setting this up, inventing the technique and getting it to work, but for what they're doing, it could be done in short order and with better results by an experienced computer graphics artist or two (note that CGI is the wrong term). The wear and tear is very well done, but it's ultimately at the wrong scale. The chips of paint are too large etc. It could be a stylistic decision, but most likely it's just very hard to get more detail out of that scale. The very same artist could go into a software like Mari or Substance Painter and create much finer details. As for the argument about physical lighting, that's simply uninformed. The science of CG is so far ahead that it's only the limits of the artist that determines if the result if realistic or not, it has ceased to be an issue of technology. Any modern renderer can produce results indistinguishable from reality - human faces being an exception and is still under heavy research, but that has more to do with design and animation than actual light transport.

    I'll never understand investing this much money and time into something you will never own. Why not put this money toward your own ideas? The work itself is awesome, as is the dedication, but what's the point?
    It's a bit like tracing your favorite comic book rather than creating your own.

    This was way over hyped. The visuals were spot on, the script was terrible and ruined the whole project. I do not recommend watching it.

    • @JD2jr.
      @JD2jr. 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I still recommend it just to admire the the visuals. Just know the writing is bad and the acting matches.

    • @xBleuGuyx
      @xBleuGuyx 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      James Dreger I don't think the acting itself was bad, just the writing. You can only deliver shit so many ways.

      xBleuGuyx
      I don't think it was horrible, but even the worst writing can be improved with decent acting, and 90% of the lines were read as if they were reading off the script. The two go hand-in-hand.

    • @LyricNear
      @LyricNear 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of acting was pretty good, I think what's-her-face (I don't watch futurama) was the only one really lacking.
