Endlich kam der lang ersehnte erste Außeneinsatz des Caterpillar 390D im Maßstab 1:8. Es hat unheimlich viel Spaß gemacht damit zu baggern. Am Schluss war ich sehr erstaunt, wieviel Material in kurzer Zeit bewegt wurde!

Finally the long-awaited first outdoor use of the Caterpillar 390D came in 1: 8 scale. It was a lot of fun digging. In the end I was amazed at how much material was moved in a short time!

The problem with rc heavy equipment is that the dirt and it’s properties don’t scale down along with the machine… making the machines (as cool and tough as they are) always look like toys. Great video

I have run real heavy equipment; I am amazed at the amount of work that go into these toys. I have put 1000s of hours on that real equipment, how many hours before your board with accomplishing less than you could with a shovel with that toy, I could play with for about 45 mins.

Eine wirklich tolle Maschine und du kannst so stolz auf deine Arbeit sein.Menschen,welche die Leistung dieses Baggers nicht erkennen,werden niemals die hunderte von Stunden in so ein Projekt investieren um so etwas tolles zu besitzen.Vieleicht hättest du deinen Baggerfahrer mit einem Esslöffel in der Hand in die Baugrube stellen sollen,so dass sich alle mal fragen könnten,wie lange er und noch ein paar von seiner Statur,selbst bei vollsten körpereinsatz für den Aushub benötigt hätten.Aber liegt wohl an unserer bekloppten Zeit,alles muss Ratz Klatsch fertig sein.Ganz großes Kino und danke fürs zeigen,Gruss Frank...

...Räusper ..ich weiss , das klingt makaber und überhaupt nicht Pietätsvoll ..aber wir haben letztens unsere verstorbene Katze "Shiva" im Garten vergraben (19 jahre wurde sie und hat ein gutes leben gehabt )..das Loch auszuheben (1,50)
war anstrengend und mit diesem "Reptil" wär das bestimmt elegannt gewesen ..

This is fantastic! This rc excavator has power. So is it possible to create a rc excavator that will be using gas fuel like any excavator?
Yes, but a combustion engine in that Size has a very high engine speed at rated Power. So you need a very big gearbox for it. And the sound does not fit to an excavator.

It is pretty slow? Do you need to put a bigger pump? Or maybe servos could be stronger? Please don't get me wrong Your machine is Awesome, beautifully made spot on! I just think that the movements could be more realistic!
Scale speed seems just about right
Agree, the excavator is operating at scale speed. Any faster then it losses the realism.
Any faster and things get broken.

@@rcheavyconstructionzone Hiab HiVision is a good example for such a system. It works with several static cameras, switching between them, but a single static camera is ok too. For maximum immersion, I think it should be possible to aim a single HD camera with servos in real time, but getting the orientation of your head into a radio channel is the bigger challenge. I assume that interfacing directly with the orientation sensors on a sophisticated set of 3D goggles is too complicated because it requires programming skills. I would love to see you experiment with FPV on your construction equipment!

Great scale model, superlative....except that you haven't painted it. I know you want to illustrate that the beast is made of metal all-round, we get that okay. What I would do is to paint it up and in my own colour scheme, similar to caterpillar and JCB but a bit lighter perhaps. Get those paints out!

The tracks are facing the wrong direction. You never have the rear sprocket segments facing your work where the digging happens...

@@rcheavyconstructionzone I got a wire feed and a stick welder. So you have a mini or standard milling machine?
It is a standard milling machine. The most parts are laser cutted and then welded. The laser cutted parts are from laserteil4you.de or cutworks.de .
Remember that a hydraulic control is not a light switch. It's not just on and off it's many many places in-between. Smoother is better. Jerky movements only loosen everything on the machine but it will beat you to death by the end of the day.
