What I perceive is that the bass line is just one of the elements that made the difference.

In their remix, Daft Punk did a job of filtering, feedback, and resonance that someone with high skills should explain (techniques later taken to the extreme by various artists like SebastiAn, Justice), in addition to buried vocals in the mix and cut kick drums
that do the rest.

There is too much mess and melodyless noise between the good bits in this track. somebody please make a clean remix without the intro and the slow parts, and make the tune a bit brighter.
