It's nothing to do with the knowledge, but the analytical skills which engineering students develop during their course. Some survey I came across, denoted that most of the candidates who crack upsc come from engineering background. Nothing to degrade arts or medicine students.

First we should cover basic NCERT books (6th - 12th) and then each subject have (1-2) standard books.📚 The subjects are 1) History 2) Arts and culture 3) Geography 4) Polity 5) Economy 6) Environment 7) Science and technology 8) also cover current affairs (newspaper) and n no of test series continously. It's just for prelims (objective type) and also have separate CSAT paper (qualifying paper). After clearing prelims. Mains have 9 papers. (descriptive type) 2 language paper + 1 - Essay paper + 4 - General studies paper ( Prelims topics + ethics) + two optional paper (new) Surely, Six months is not enough time to clear this exam🤐. It will take one year to complete the syllabus(prelims + mains)
