Thanks a lot! I really enjoy your non-bs, straight2thepoint videos. Milsurpers of the world, unite on youtube :)! Well, it's simple math... I made another pass, and I managed to make a round of 21 shots in 60 seconds since this recorded attempt, and guess what, I had only 10 hits (!) inside 12 inch. I had to make 4 reloads, ie. 12-13 seconds burned for the reloads, 48 seconds to work the bolt and pretend I am aiming and shoot. And I shooting from a comfy benchrest, not from a trench, nobody is trying to shoot me... Ammo prepared nicely... Bottom point, speed kills accuracy. Plus the Nagant pencil thin barrel overheates rapidly, and accuracy suffers. Mine is throwing lead up and right as it gets hot. However, I fully believe an Enfield (I also have a No 4. Mk I., and an Ishapore, please check my comparison video about them) is capable of 30 rounds per minute, unaimed volley fire against a block of troops. That is possible.
Very well done sir, nice bent bolt btw. Did it come with your rifle or did you buy it after market? Also if you bought it after market I'd like to know where from, I've been wanting one of these for mine since I bought it.
Mark Bower II hi mate, i got it as a hunter rifle, but it is actually a phased out military rifle with a mixed bolt parts and non matching numbers i was just lucky to get it
Very lucky indeed, I've seen the bent bolt alone go for over a hundred dollars and if you have the 91/30 pu sniper variant, that's like among the rarest of the rare. I've seen those go for over $700. I'd like to convert mine to include the bent bolt and pu optic but I just have a hard time justifying putting that kind of money into a rifle I only paid a hundred dollars for.
Other gun-channels trying to rapid fire mosin fail miserably and conclude by their experiment that mosins sucks (and Russians apparently did not fire much in both world wars). This guy just shoots and reloads for a minute and is like "Oh I did not beat that mythical record score".
Very good job. Are you Hungarian? If so, did you grow up with these rifles? I ask because you seem to handle it much better than most are able. Regards, Josh
Hey Josh, thanks a lot! indeed I am Hungarian... you too, or is my hunglish accent so obvious? I was never allowed to shoot rifles during my childhood, cause ya know, guns are evil and all that shyttt... all I could get was a rag-tag rusty air rifle. And conscription was abolished in 1997 (thanks God gracious... conscripts were never taught how to shoot). I learned everything as an adult, with help of fellow shooters. My best group with this Nagant is 4,5 cm in 110 yards (1,8 inches) with cheap ammo.
Medve Sínai Bear, I'm American. You had a Russian-type accent, but it's not Russian, so I made a guess! Here, Mosins are seen as second-rate rifles mostly. You obviously show that they're not, under 2" at 100 meters being better than most can shoot and at the outside of surplus ammo specs. You're shooting close to 1.5 MOA. I can only do better than that with handloads. I'm impressed, Sir. Josh
SmithSights As I see on youtube. more and more people oversea in USA are using Nagants, and it's getting mainstream. If people are snobs, it means better deal for us milsurp fans :) The ammo prices you have on surplus are ridiculous, even though it is delivered from Europe to USA, prices are double here. Cheap prices mean you can get a lot of practice. I've also got an Enfield, a Kar98 and a swiss K31, and the Nagant is almost as good as any of them (except for the K31, which is a different tier, a class in it's own right, well under MoA). The Nagant has much more than meets the eyes, but it needs some refinement, in order to expose it's full potential. All I've done to my Mosin, is a little trigger job (polishing), a little polishing on the chamber and bolt (CAREFULLY!), so it runs smooth, and a little sandpapering for free-floating the barrel. Took less than a day altogether. Anyone can do that at home, and it will bring you -1MoA easily, even with surplus ammo.
Mr. Deeremeyer, this competition was kicked off by Mr. 314299, for the sole purpose of having FUN. I am not sure, you are familiar with the expression. Fortunately, we are not going to war, we don't have to shoot at any enemy soldiers. I agree with you, you won't have optimal, comfortable shooting positions on a battlefield, you are right. Btw, not that it matters, I shoot 2 MoA with my M91/30, in case of benchrest, careful shoting, iron sights of course, I agree, accuracy is more important than speed. On the other hand, a volley fire is actually about amount of rounds per miunte, f.e. countering a human wave attack.
Sorry it took me so long to find your video. Well done!
I agree on the Lee Enfield mad minute "record" as being BS.
