- Note the factory bike comes programmed at level 3 which is max regen
Level one regen braking = 2 short 1 long 2 blinks.
Level two regen braking = 3 short 1 long 3 blinks
Level three regen braking = 4 short 1 long 4 blinks
NO Regen = 7 short one long 7 blinks
Turn ebrake sensor off - 8 short one long 8 blinks
Turn ebrake sensor back on - 9 short and one long. 9 blinks

For anyone that doesnt have the harnes, this will work without it. You just wont get the confirmation from the blinking light.

Thank you so much Luna. My buddy and I recently upgraded to new Sur Ron's and were so disappointed because stand up trail riding was just too difficult with so much regen. It's a complete pleasure to ride now. We ride mostly in the Sierras and change the bikes to full regen on sustained downhills. We use the kickstand as our e-brakes are disconnected. (The dongle isn't necessary)
How did u use the kickstand? I need to do the same
With the kickstand down open the battery compartment and install the supplied dongle in line with the battery data connector cable. Starting with the key on...turn the bike off, then back on again. wait until display boots up completely then follow these instructions for the various programming options. Regen Programming: The dongle will blink accordingly when you've accomplished the program. Note: The dongle takes a few seconds to read out the accomplished blinks in the programs below
Brake lever squeezes are as follows:
Level one regen braking = 2 short 1 long will yield 2 blinks. (squeeze brake lever 2 short and one long...the long should be about 4 seconds)
Level two regen braking = 3 short 1 long 3 blinks (level 2 gives you regen in sport mode, but freewheels in eco mode) good compromise
Level three regen braking = 4 short 1 long 4 blinks
NO Regen = 7 short one long 7 blinks
Turn ebrake sensor off - 8 short one long 8 blinks
Turn ebrake sensor back on - 9 short and one long. 9 blinks
Additional note: you can do all this programming without the dongle. Works just fine. I do it all the time. You just won't get a blinking confirmation light that's all.

Just did it! Super easy. I got to say, I was on the fence between the Segway and Luna. Luna was the first to sell these bikes so I went with them. I support them. I wouldn't want anyone steeling my business if it was me. So far, the customer service has been wonderful with Luna. Thanks everyone at Luna. I just got my Sur Ron today!! Loving it!!

Awesomeness !! I was wondering what that wire light was for !! Super stoked as this will really improve the riding options - Level three regen is too strong IMO for my type of riding on singletrack in CO - but now I can switch it on the fly just like a Segway !!! And don't forget about super smoky burnouts if you shut off the brake sensors !!!

Nice vid, I wondered what that cable was for. I just got mine 3 weeks ago and love it. So much fun in the woods! Although I like the regen right where it's at but may investigate changing the brake-engine cutoff as it's a bit annoying. Don't know what the downside is of doing this but what the heck. I drive a Prius and a big truck with a Jake brake. Using just mechanical friction/brake pads to slow kinda sucks. I feel right at home with my Sur Ron level 3 setting. Good explanation Eric.

Excellent thanks a lot now it feels more like a mountain bike and I can handle the bike better especially for wheelies as the regen isn’t pulling you down when You let go of the throttle, please ,,,, tell me what else can you do by going into the programs on the bike?? Thanks a lot

Wow nice stuff. I just ordered mine ‘this past Saturday. Standard stock. Will I have to enable the ful sport mode that I’ve been seeing on TH-cam? Videos are nice and easy for us newbies and not too mechanically inclines
Great info. Is there a way to disconnect kickstand sensor by programming? Not that I would leave it that way, trying to test whether it may be shutting down motor inadvertently, even with kickstand up.
For anyone who has deleted the kickstand sensor and the tilt sensor, this method still works.
Even after upgrading to aftermarket brakes, just save the OEM brakes with sensor, plug it in when you need to reprogram.
If you are mostly riding off-road, I suggest regen level 3, especially for downhill sections. Save you a ton of money on new brake pads.

Will this work on 2021 x versions in Canada? I’m guessing it should… should you do the break one first then the regen or does it make a difference if you want both off? Thanks again

Hi, im a little confused. Ive seen some videos doing this without the extension cable led but here in a comment below its says you must use that cable in orther to make it work.
I have the lb1e from 2020, have not tried the bike yet and i want to unlimit the speed(cut the green cable).
Disable the brake sensor is a priority for me, i will ride trails up and down so dont want annoying cuts while braking and accelerating.
So do i need the led cable? And where can i buy one? Or it will work without it? I live in spain and cant find parts easily sent here. Ohh! Forgot to ask, when doing this with the led conector , can you remove it after programing?

I have super high regen in sport and i cant get it to change. Takes me from like thirty five to zero in maybe twenty feet...

Can you plug the x260 Bluetooth doggle into the sur-ron lbx? I know the sur-ron has the same cable under the seat where the Bluetooth doggle plugs into.
hi, is it only possible to program the regen while all the 3 sensors are in place, i have 16 blink brake sensor error,
right brake sensnor snapped inside lever, kick sensor damaged and removed.

Can the regen be set to freewheel via throttle and regen when the ebrake sensor is triggered?
Even if it's not regen, Electric Braking would be cool to have as a Standard for all E-Bikes.

my speed has been cut down to 14 miles an hr. and had my break sensors not register to program back to sport, is there any way to get back to sport by eliminating a wire? and are x260's same as surons to cut a wire or two to get back to sport? do I need an app?

Having trouble doing the regen. I’m able to get the light to turn off but it doesn’t so the 7 blinks then stop blinking again, it just continues to blink.
Can you guys do a video on how to turn regen off with the kickstand method because my front brake sensor got ripped out in a crash.
Just a PSA: My bike was able to be programmed using the OTHER brake lever. Not sure why, but worth trying if you're having issues with the programming.
Isn't there more to program ? like power curves, cause the ON/OFF throttle is ankward
If I have the belt cover of it follow the steps exactly but the light stops blinks 7 time but then continues to flash . Did the code not work because of the cover? Or doing something wrong

It just worked for me, turn bike off, turn it on, do the pulls, done. But if you want to change it again you need to turn off and on again before setting the new regen

i had crashed my surron and messed up the front break and the bike turns on but dosent drive i think the bike thinks that the front break is pulled in i need to know on how to dissable the break cut off

Ok what does "ebrake" mean? This bike doesn't have ebrakes it has a front and rear brake. Does ebrake sensor disable both?

Does the 8 blink one to turn off the ebrake sensor work for both brakes or do I need to do the right side 8 code, reset the bike, and do with 8 with the left side aswell?

So I already disconnected the kickstand sensor and ebrake sensors. I think I need one of those hooked up to program the bike. Is that correct?
I'm wondering the same thing. Dissapointing that Luna isn't responding to any of these questions. I have a support ticket in to see if it's required to have the kick stand sensor installed. Mine failed days after getting my bike so they had me remove it.
Do you need that little wire? Does it anything more than show the little red LED?
Also, can you also turn the ebrake sensor off on the old (non-x) controller this way?

Yes you do ...the little wire serves as a dongle to put the bike in service mode so you can do this.

Anyone have full programming on this x controller? It seems like only regen and brake can be programmed. Pretty sure it has more setting as in segway controller. I mean its pretty much the same controller but with bt apps support

just tried the bike with no regen and ebrake sensors off. Really liking no regen, but it absolutely punishes the stock brakes. Feel like they are about to split in half or catch on fire. probably both
My stock brakes were smoking after an intense trail ride. I had brake fade at the end of my ride and I looked down and they were smoking a little 😂 after cruising for a bit down hill with no brakes they cooled down and it was working properly again. Definitely need regen to help take some stress off the brakes. Especially when you mob down steep hills with a bunch of switch backs
I had trouble cause I was doing it slowly you have to follow how he does it here fast pulls all the way down and my foot peg was up not sure if it made a difference it took me like 10 tries without a harness.

Hi man, I’m looking to turn off the regen but it isn’t working for me. Is it because I don’t have that programming cable with the led light on it? I’ve tried it with the kickstand way and the way being explain in the online tutorials and still nothing is happening. I don’t have the sensors on the brakes, it come like that on delivery and was brand new from shop in the UK. Will that affect anything? I’ve tried everything I can think of. I’d appreciate the help! I'd love to be able to coast on flat ground but regen on the hills is just perfect. Wish I could just toggle it with a switch... Has anybody found a way to disable/ enable regen with the Sur Ron on the fly?

you don't need the cable for this, it just will show you when the controller successfully is programmed. Having regen on or off is very easy to tell, without using a light as an indicator.

If you have to ask, don't do it. (ha, ha.) The ebrake sensor is set by factory to shut off your motor/power when you pull the brake. It's a good safety feature. I turned ebrake off for testing and honestly, like it back to factory = ebrake turns off power.
For what it is worth you don’t need the little thing that goes between the battery to do this. You can do it without it

Put some 303 aerospace protectant on the belt. It will stop squeaking and make last longer.

My surron just crapped out on me after a day and a half of riding it checked all the safety switches the diagnostic light stays on and doesn’t blink nothing on the chart about if the light just stays on
