    I believe that you don't find twenty one pilots, twenty one pilots find you when you need them the most.😊 Nobody is late to the party and everyone's invited.

      Thank God they found me in 2019 in 2015 I heard stressed out and had never heard of them b4 then and started hating bc they played that song so much and of course I had no clue about the lore but if u would have told me in 2015 that this band playing that song that I was so sick of would one day be the reason I’m still alive. I would have called u crazy

      Truth. Trench came out when I was recovering from a very bad situation, feeling exactly like I'd been tested like the ends of a weathered flag that's by the sea (where I grew up).

    This was the first time we met Ned. At this point we didn't know that his antlers that grew in the pool would become important in a couple of years later in the story as a 'Neuro Expansion Device'.

    he also starts singing at 17 seconds, which is the atomic number of chlorine. sick detail

    I love the "lead" and "lead" line. Such clever lyric writing. And weathered flag line. Ooof.

    Not overthinking it at all. Chlorine is toxic but also purifying, and lead (writing) is toxic but how he makes his bread. That duality is where he feeds his creativity (Ned), and when it's finally ready, it sprouts horns (music) from creativity's head. In The Outside video, he finds an album's worth of Neds as an outsider, and he controls and fights bishops with horns (his music). In Overcompensate, he communicates with and recruits Banditos through horns (music). In Backslide, inner storms (like the one testing a flag by the sea in this song) ruins Ned's Breads, what he is trying to create to make his bread.

      I think that it also means that when he talks about his struggles through music, it helps him to put it out there, but it's not so easy to confront, hence why it's medical...

    I found them in 2020 while i was losing my mom to leukemia and my grampa to heart failure at the same time.. Hated all but 3 songs at first. But when i found out they were big on mental health in a very positive way, i listened for the lyrics rather than the music. Fell in love with the lyrics first and then the music later. The boys legit helped get through both losses and are why I'm still kicking.

    Spot on, man. This song is Tyler explaining the hiatus they took between Blurryface and Trench. The moment was medical and he'll be back when it's all complete.

    Love the idea that the pool is mostly empty as they add more until Ned is satisfied enough to find it enjoyable to swim in. His horns grow as he does. Then it’s empty again and Ned has small antler nubs as Josh hands Tyler a small cup ( a new idea) that Ned finds bitter and the cycle begins again. Creatives never stop creating.

    Chlorine is, and will always be, in my top 10 |-/ tracks. “Can you build my house with pieces” was a constant prayer in the last year and a half. And that’s exactly how long I’ve been turned on to them also.
    I thought I was late to the party too, but we all pull up right on time.

    First time I heard them was in 2013 at edgefest in Dallas. I was there to listen to Paramore and Phoenix and ended up finding some really good bands. I remember him playing car radio and climbing the stage scaffold things. Ever since then I’ve been hooked. It was my first ever concert/festival and it was totally worth it.

    For me it's the best song they've ever made. This is a journey. From a catchy chorus, to a rap verse, to ending with Tyler's beautiful vocals. Chlorine is literally several songs in one.

    My read on this song is Tyler's struggle to write/make music and his fight for and against thier fans. Like he wants to make music to help himself and others but also he has to make music to pay the bills and that is in part where blurry face comes in as he is the one making popular music while Tyler makes the deeper songs... Something like that anyway.

  • @melanipanjalai9868
    @melanipanjalai9868 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    the way i see it, is that this song represents the struggles of writing; the writing block that comes with it.
    the chlorine represents how toxic it can be for him and his mental health. chlorine is both poisonous and cleansing. writing is simultaneously therapeutic and bad for his mental health.
    he needs to write in order to cope, hence why the moment is "medical", but he thinks he gets the best writings out of his worst mental states, so he may be clinging onto those bad feelings in order to write.
    "it grows while i decay"
    he's 'loving what he's tasting' and 'dependant at times' even though its venom on his tounge and not really good for him.
    the lead is terrible in flavor, but now you double as a paper maker (money). but it makes him money at the end of the day

  • @cloismagic
    @cloismagic 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    please continue talking about the cinematography! a lot of people will just dismiss the videos, and I feel like there's a lot of cool shots in TØP videos and it's nice to see someone appreciate them. even for their more "simple" videos there's a lot of meaning or it just looks cool. also loved your reaction to this. it's probably one of their deeper songs. chlorine is basically a symbolism for his music career and ned signifies his creativity. ned couldn't jump in until it was perfect- like how Tyler can't finish a song until it's perfect for him. at the end when the pool is empty and gets offered more chlorine, he's tired and can't consume any more.

  • @MajicSays
    @MajicSays 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Ned is so cute! I actually wasn't a huge fan of Trench because I felt it was a little too different from the other albums that I fell in love with. But, Chlorine was the first song I ended up really warming up to. Tyler is definitely an old soul. He's a deep thinker and everything has meaning. I mean he came up with the band's name from a play. By Arthur Miller. A man unalived himself after causing the death of twenty one pilots during World War II because he knowingly sent them faulty parts to keep his business going. Can you imagine looking into Tyler Joseph's mind? What a sight that must be.

    You asked when we found out about TOP: 2015 when Tear in My Heart started playing on local radio, then Stressed Out, then I said to our oldest "these Twenty One Pilots guys seem pretty good" and she said "you haven't even heard Car Radio, Ode to Sleep, Guns for Hands, and I was like "ooh, put it on!" and we dove through their whole discography (at the time) during our daily drives to/from school. Which is also how our youngest then got into them, and then she ended up being an even bigger fan of theirs than her big sister. For each of them in their teen years I took them to one live concert each, which I saved so long for, but was so glad to be able to do with them. Our oldest chose Panic at the Disco (meggsy started showing you some of their vids recently - The Devil's Key Trilogy), and our youngest picked Twenty One Pilots. So I got to go see both, and the kids had such a blast. Still loving your dive through their stuff, and now they have even more than they did back then, so you've still got so much to get through! Great problem to have :D

  • @nikita8370
    @nikita8370 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    There's no such thing as too deep when it comes to interpreting TOP 😊 One of the ways I look at this one is as a metaphor for Tyler creating music, 'shaking hands with the dark parts of my thoughts.' Ned can't jump in til it's just right, and Tyler has to keep adding toxic Chlorine to fill up the pool. Perfectionism, like Chlorine, can be a double edged sword. Luckily, Josh is there with him, cz 'In Trench we're not alone.'
    I love all the parts of this beautiful song and really, really felt your reaction to the weathered flag line, it's one of my favorites. So personal.
    As you move thru all their music you'll find the threads that connect it all. What these two have done is amazing, impressive, and so very needed. Found them in 2015 thru the Heathens track. Dove in and been a Clikkie ever since! I encourage you to keep going thru their entire catalog, even after Clancy. They have so much to offer the world. And no worries, we'll watch it all with ya!!

    I first got into twenty one pilots around 2016 ish? I only knew of their popular songs at the time like stressed out, ride, guns for hands, tear in my heart, heavy dirty soul, trees, and later heathens. BUT I didn't dive into more until a couple years ago when I heard their song Hometown online and loved it, so I decided to finally delve into their discography and I was blown away. I haven't looked back.

    Ned is a bunyip 😉…that’s my theory since they met him on tour whilst in Australia. Bunyip hang out in Billabongs but I think Ned is special & was feeling a bit different to most Bunyips, didn’t fit in was looking for more, a way to express himself. Tyler & Josh helped him out with what he needed & they fast became friends. The rest is history!
    😆😆😆 my lil story, I like it, Mark confirmed Ned was back visiting Australia in a discord chat so I take that as evidence 😜.
    I discovered them through stressed out, ride & heathens. I didn’t realise they were all by the same band at first then that had me curious. I very quickly got hooked once I started looking into the band. The deep lyrics coupled with such an array of music just hit right. I never get bored of them

    Such a great song - one of my favorites from TOP. It's about Josh dealing with writers block. "Now different lives I lead, my body lives on lead. The last two lines may read incorrect until said" is one of my favorite TOP lines. Didn't catch it originally, just as in Stressed out when he sings "Out of student loans and tree house homes, we all would take the latter" - where you can also replace 'latter' with 'ladder'.

    Have you heard Lane Boy? It’s definitely a favorite from Blurryface.
    I think visually you would enjoy The Hype and Holding on to You. It’s great that even when you get through Clancy there’s still a lot more to keep you busy.

    TOP's music really does find a way of embedding itself directly into your heart, and i'm so happy you're having as much fun discovering their mind-blowing discography as I did! I can't wait until you get to hear how incredible Clancy is! To answer your question - I found TOP back in 2013 or 2014, when they were touring with another band that own my heart: Fall Out Boy. "Holding On To You" was the first track I heard, and my life has been exponentially brighter with them in it ever since!

    I was late, too, but now it feels like I've been in it for a while haha. I knew I liked TOP from all their radio hits, but for some reason I never bothered to listen to their albums. When Level of Concern came out during the pandemic and I had lots of free time on my hands, I got into watching reaction videos, which lead me to discovering their entire back catalog (and I was hooked). As fate would have it, that's also how I found NF (from TOP fans suggesting him to their favorite reactors). Life is funny sometimes. You should absolutely go see them live! I saw them twice on the SAI tour, and I have tickets to see them in August for the Clancy tour. They put on a fantastic show, and if you haven't already you should watch Trees (live at the Fox Theater) to get an idea of the vibe.

    the piece of information you're probably missing is they took a year hiatus after Blurryface where they just disappeared from the world - they had just become world famous and it took a big mental toll on them and nobody even knew when/if they were coming back
    the song is about making music - it's good for them because they're able to get their thoughts out, but too much of it can be toxic (exactly like Chlorine) - that's why he kept saying "the moment is medical" because they needed that time off to heal

    It's been fun watching your reactions. TH-cam suggested this song Chlorine to me maybe in 2019, I really liked it . I eventually came to like all of the songs on Trench, and then enjoyed Scaled and Icy when it was released. I've gotten used to Tyler's screaming on songs, but he seemed to have toned it down the last 2 albums

    I have been listening since I heard Holding on to You from Vessel in 2013. Have you done Fairly Local? The new record sent me back to that video. I love watching your reactions! This duo is amazing.

    I am the only one who think Tyler looks just like Colin Farrell at the end, in the street!!?? Like identical. I'd still take Tyler any day over Colin but he's not too shabby either.

      I keep thinking that in the Snap Back video long-haired Tyler looks so much like Nathan Fielder.
