Raise A Suilen is a Japanese all-female rock band that is part of Bushiroad's media franchise BanG Dream!. Formed in 2018, the group's members portray fictional characters in the project's anime series and mobile game BanG Dream!

"BanG Dream! ” is a Japanese anime and game that depicts the story of high school girls forming a band and growing up. A real band was formed by the voice actors who appear in the BanG Dream project. ``RAISE A SUILEN'' was formed as ``THE THIRD'' in 2018 as a backing band for voice actors who cannot play instruments, as it was difficult for all bands to perform with only voice actors in the ``BanG Dream! Project''. And released their 1st album "THE THIRD" in September. In December of the same year, the band changed its name to "RAISE A SUILEN" and released their first single.
Originally, they did not exist in the anime, but they appear as characters in "BanG Dream! 2nd Season", and the band members act as voice actors.
Raychell - Vo.R&B/Gospel singer, bassist, actress. She joined the rock band SHAZNA in 2017. She made her voice acting debut with this project.
NATUME - Dr. She has been working as a freelance drummer since 2005 and has participated in many artists' live performances and recordings. Like Raychell, she has been a member of SHAZNA since August 2017 and made her voice acting debut with this project.
KURATI-REO - Key. She learned piano from the age of 2, and then she learned cheer dancing and jazz dancing. She made her voice acting debut in 2016 when she passed the voice acting audition. Utilizing her experience in cheerleading, she specializes in intense dance and acrobatic performances.
KOHARA-RIKO - Guitar. She graduated from ESP School Musician Course Guitar Course. She made her debut in June 2011 by forming the band ``The Sketchbook'' as an audition project from the TV anime ``SKET DANCE.'' She made her voice acting debut in the TV anime in 2014.
TUMUGI-RISA - DJ, rapper, singer. She graduated from an international school and can speak natural English, so she joined the team with the idea of expanding overseas.
She made her voice acting debut in 2017. She is a popular voice actress who has already played characters in over 40 works.

I saw RAS at Summer Sonic 2022, they played the same stage as Band-Maid, and we B-M fans were impressed by them-very good live band. People in the West don't realize how popular the BanG Dream bands are in Japan. I remember looking at some data sheets that circulated in the Japanese music industry that showed that in the first three years of the Reiwa Era-i.e., May 2019 to April 2022-for both first-week CD single sales and overall CD album sales for all-female bands, BanG Dream bands dominated. Roselia was top in both categories with RAS and Poppin' Party following in albums if I recall correctly. I think Morfonica were up there too. I do clearly remember that the top ten spots in singles (17 of the top 20) were occupied by BanG bands. It helps that those bands have a very big built-in anime/game fanbase.

SUILEN is pronounced not as 'sullen' but as it is spelled, 'SUI-LEN’. The term "垂簾" (SUILEN) refers to a traditional Japanese/Chinese blind, often made of bamboo or reeds, commonly used by the nobility in ancient Japan. The band name RAISE A SUILEN implies stepping onto the center stage by raising the “SUILEN".
RAS consists of five members:
- LAYER (Lead Vo, Ba; CV. Raychell): Provides incredibly stable vocals while playing the bass.
- LOCK (Gt, Chorus; CV. Riko Kohara): A renowned guitarist who was responsible for the guitar parts of The Sketchbook.
- MASKING (Dr, Chorus; CV. Natsume): An amazing Drummer
- PAREO (Key, Chorus; CV. Reo Kurachi): Not only sings while playing the keyboard, but also performs flashy stage moves.
- CHU² (DJ, Rap, Chorus; CV. Risa Tsumugi): A rapper with an attractive voice that contrasts well with LAYER.
As indicated above, everyone except the lead vocalist often sings as part of the chorus.
As indicated by CV (Character Voice), RAS is a band tied to a specific mobile game/anime /manga franchise, called "BanG Dream", and Riko Kohara, Reo Kurachi, and Risa Tsumugi are relatively active as voice actors. The other two only appear as voice actors in this and related works.
