  • The Denver Nuggets have one of the best offenses in the NBA, and at the forefront is the 2-man game between Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic.

    Jokic and Murray are a dangerous duo because they're both scorers and playmakers in every court. Specifically, if Jokic is a playmaker, then Murray becomes a scorer; and if Murray is a playmaker, then Jokic becomes a scorer. It is almost impossible for opponents to stop them when they changed their duty of a playmaker each other. That is no wonder Denver Nuggets won.

    This action will become even more deadly when Murray cools off a bit and stops trying to hero ball. The couple of plays where he hit KCP or MPJ once he and Jokic collapse the paint are such beautiful basketball. Once he starts making that extra pass consistently (after he makes some shots to force that reaction), the nuggets offense will really start going because both Murray and Jokic can start really punishing defenses for collapsing on them in the paint. Also allows so much more confusion with Jokic rolling to the elbow after a screen than there already is.

    • @HoopVenue
      @HoopVenue  ปีที่แล้ว +24

      100% agree, he can over-dribble at times but when he’s willing to move the ball they’re actually unguardable.

    • @kynos6219
      @kynos6219 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@HoopVenue Just saw a stat that Murray has only passed to MPJ 5 times this series, compared to 24 times against the TWolves last round. Obviously it’s not all on Murray, MPJ has been kinda glued to the corner and not moving around enough off ball to get open looks, but it’s also the PGs job to get everyone involved, even if that responsibility is shared between Jokic and Murray.
      Malone just needs to run more plays for MPJ in general tbh. Both of the Nuggets losses this postseason had MPJ keeping us in it late by getting hot from 3, only for him to get ignored at the end.

      And the better Murray gets at finding the pass like jokic the more they will be unsure if he’ll make the pass or score basically making the paint utter chaos cause him and jokic will score no matter what

      I think Murray has it in his head to prove that he's back from his injury and can be the guy. In the Suns series I think he realised he doesnt have to hero ball, he can be a facilitator as well, and the team is better for it.

    I like this video, thank you, you made me significantly more optimistic about the Murray-Jokic partnership by highlighting strengths I didn't know Mal had as much as he did. I have been so frustrated sometimes watching him play iso ball with Jokic standing right there ready to make a play or at least put up a much better shot, to instead see Murray take a 40-45% contested 2 after overdribbling.
    If he can play like he did in the last 2 or 3 games of the Suns series consistently I have nothing to worry about then, especially after watching this and realizing just how strong of a 1 2 punch they are together.

    well thats the reason why they are no 1 seed in the west, nuggets is all about teamwork every body has the green light to shoot . no superstar ego to contend with, have an nba elite player that is a willing passer and the persistent to stay with their core to reach this high no shortcuts!! i hope nuggets win the title so that jokic and murray can cemented their legacy as one of the nba greats just like what giannis did!

    They used to do it a lot more back in the day. Don't get me wrong they run it moderately nowadays but it's just so much more effective straight up giving Jokic the ball... it's either a bucket or a dime. Murray iso is better too simply because he's always gonna be 1 on 1 with all the talent on the floor.
