I love Mary's Song of Praise - The Magnificat. The translation I prefer is the English Standard Version (ESV). Mary is expressing her joy and recognition of the majesty and magnificence of God. She knows in her soul that God is with her and is saving her and I think she is sensing that she is in God's will for the hope of salvation for the entire world and she is chosen to be part of the hope of salvation hope of the entire world. It will be her child, Jesus, the Savior who will bring salvation of the souls of men and women to be borne anew of Spirit into the kingdom of God. Carla I got lost in your message when you start speaking of economic justice. It is God who brings all justice, not we ourselves. Justice belongs to God and God alone. In the analogy of the Potter and the clay. God is the Potter and we are the clay. I think that Mary understands that all her treasure comes from God. She is in possession of the most valuable gift in the world, the baby who is going to save the world. That is the message we need to take away. Maybe I miss understand your words, Carla, but richness or poverty of physical things means nothing without knowing the Savior, even Jesus Christ. "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this. (Isaiah 9:6&7 ESV)
