My love for GMA historical series rekindle. Sobrang napahanga ako dito. Lalo na kay Barbie at Julie. Since elementary, favorite ko na sila. Naging busy lang ako nung nag senior high at college na. Sila lagi ung may historical series since. Amaya to Indio to lost recipe to this one. Never sila natatakot mag take risk talaga na maging una sa mga concept.

WHAT THEY NEED TO DO NOW IS JUST TO END IT WITH A "BANG"!!!** I hope they will explain in the final episode why "Maria Clara (Klay) Infantes" always saw a "firefly" near her. From my point of view ... The firefly symbolism is about being illuminated in darkness, discovering illumination within yourself when you may have otherwise found none outside of yourself, or perhaps even taking flight towards greater heights with your newfound light leading the way so others might follow suit - much like how these creatures tend to lead their babies back home at night by shining brightly for them.
This represents going into unknown territory knowing there’s something inside each one of us that will guide us forward/out of the darkness if only we follow our own unique path.
We can all learn a lot from this creature that has been guiding people through the dark for centuries! Perhaps it’s time to ask ourselves what is glowing brightly within us. We’ll never know unless we try!
This is what I've been telling people, we can't deny the fact that GMA had produced exceptional series that captured the hearts of Filipinos. I grew up watching cool productions, cinematography and great actors. I also appreciate how they endeavor to show our culture and heritage. I am so looking forward for this series.

The two are fundamentally opposed to one another and therefore destined for the relationship of resistance and confrontation. In the first case, nationalism is expected to lose out and eventually leave the center stage to other supranational alternatives as required by the logic of globalization. In the second case, nationalism is not only expected to persist but also increase and intensify in response to and in opposition to forces of globalization. Thus according to Anthony Giddens, “the revival of local nationalisms, and an accentuating of local identities, are directly bound up with globalizing influences, to which they stand in opposition.”1 I would argue that neither of the approaches presents a complete picture of the complex web of links and interconnections that exist between globalization and nationalism. As the two case studies have demonstrated nationalizing and globalizing forces can be complementary rather than contradictory with nationalist actors accepting, embracing, and even promoting globalization for various, often nationalist objectives. Their coexistence is not a battle in which only one is destined to emerge as the winner and the other as a loser-it is rather a mutually beneficial coexistence of two perfectly compatible tendencies.
**WHY DO HISTORIANS’ ACCOUNTS OF THE PAST KEEP CHANGING?!!!** People who are not professional historians sometimes assume that historical research is a once-and-for-all process that will eventually produce a single, final version of what happened in the past. We often hear charges of “revisionism” when a familiar history seems to be challenged or changed. But revisiting and often revising earlier interpretations is actually at the very core of what historians do. And that’s because the present is continually changing.
The kinds of people “doing history,” the kinds of questions they ask, and the tools and materials available to them are anything but static. It’s not simply that new facts come to light, but that the shape and meaning of historical events look quite different from different vantage points and time periods.
Historians recognize that individual facts and stories only give us part of the picture. Drawing on their existing knowledge of a time period and on previous scholarship about it, they continually reevaluate the facts and weigh them in relation to other kinds of information, questions and sources. My mom said "47 years old na ako, pero di ko alam kung ano ang story ng Noli. Kung hindi dahil dito ay di ko malalaman na ganito pala ang istorya at ang gaano ka nakaka suklam ang history natin". Even my dad watches this, it's our fave family bonding activity.
Ako kase mahilig na talaga ako sa history noon pa, kaya HS pa lang ako alam ko na ang story ng Noli at El Fili. Pero I love how the writers incorporated the old customs, culture, tradition, beliefs and mannerisms to our contemporary setting as of today. Kami as a fam, nag bbranstorming kami what did we observe while watching it. We compare and contrast the things in the past and the things now and also discusses how the past and present of our country is almost identical.
I love this teleserye talaga! My mom is always eager to watch this. We watch this weekly every sat and sun kasi busy kami everyday dahil sa work and etc.
I really hope that our tv stations should make more historical movies or series kasi ang konti lang ng ganun natin. Generation today should be aware of our history and what our heroes did for our independence.
My brother, 13 years old, Grade 7 can't speak nor understand Tagalog. He only communicates with English or Bisaya but mostly English. When we try to speak only tagalog in our home he went tantrums so we have no choice but to stop it. Kahit ilang ulit kong sabihin sakanya na ang sabi ng pambansang bayani natin ay "Ang hindi marunong magmahal sa sariling wika, ay higit pa sa hayop at malansang isda" but he just doesn't listen and I was deeply devasted with it. When I tried to teach him tagalog, make him watch Hiraya Manawari, Bayani, listen to OPM songs, etc. He won't internalized any of it. Lagi niya lang binabalewala pero ang lakas maka selpon at mag COD kaya labis akong nalulungkot. Rason nya lagi saakin dahil di daw sya katulad ko na mahilig sa history at magbasa. Napapa isip ako, marami din sigurong mga bata ngayon na tulad niya kaya nalulungkot ako na baka sa mga susunod na mga henerasyon ay hindi na nila itatangkilik ang ating mga bayani.
Kaya sana naman, gumawa pa sila ng mga teleseryeng tulad nito hindi yung puro nalang agawan ng lalaki at puro romance.

For me, it was the best series the Philippines has ever had so far. The settings, the characters, the plot and the nostalgia of the past. And of course the song, beautifully sang by the only one Julie Anne San Jose.
