    Can you use the same bearings with interchanging the wheels from outdoor wheels to indoor wheels? Also what size are the wheels and bearings you have? I’m planning to order some Chicago skates to start back roller skating again but am also looking to change the wheels and bearings as I know the stock wheels aren’t good at all especially for outdoor. Looking for guidance, advice, recommendations. Thanks in advance.

    • @AnnaSudberry
      @AnnaSudberry  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You absolutely can use the same bearings, but I didn’t like the stock ones so I upgraded both. Wheels are 65mm I believe, bearings standard size. I recommend any brand but Chicago! You’re likely to injure yourself as they are of the absolute lowest quality. Skates are much cheaper now than during the pandemic - try a Riedell pair!

      Okay, thanks soo much for such a prompt reply. Honestly, Chicago is the only roller skates that I found in stock that actually have my size for the price as well. I wear a size 12.5 in mens. Do the gummy wheels allow you to turn well? I have the beach bunnies and I got the pulse wheels, but the screws in the back of the plate keep stoping the wheels when I turn. they are too close to the wheel because of the size. Is this different in the gummy wheels? since they are more rounded

    • @AnnaSudberry
      @AnnaSudberry  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had no issues with mine at all! You may just need to loosen your trucks so that you can turn more easily. Too tight and you’re putting too much force to turn!

    • @Mel-qr5ob
      @Mel-qr5ob 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd say the opposite of Anna and tighten the trucks so that when you lean the plate moves less and won't hit the wheels.
      idk about the gummy wheels helping though, they're more curved but they're also bigger in the first place which puts them closer to your plate screw

    • @AnnaSudberry

      That is usually entirely dependent on how much I am skating and if I’m skating in a really nasty area with a lot of dust or grime. I skate almost every day, so I would say I soak them and use a toothbrush on them every month or so. I use Bones Speed Cream and just put a drop on each side of my bearings after cleaning. Just a tidbit, it also depends on how much you tighten your wheels. Even with the best bearings upgrade, if you tighten your wheels too much, they won’t spin for as long.

    • @AnnaSudberry
      @AnnaSudberry  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Would highly recommend shielded bearings - Bones Reds are a lot cheaper and are very good, also Rollerbones are even less expensive bearings and work just as well as the Bones Reds. The Beach Bunny wheel is hubless which creates friction in the direct contact between the wheel and bearing, which is why it’s wise to change those out immediately.
    Happy skating y’all!

    • @AnnaSudberry
      @AnnaSudberry  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Dirt gets into shielded bearings as well and they’re harder to clean. You shouldn’t be skating through dirt and mud, so there won’t be any issues. I know from my own experience skating daily around Nashville. :)

    Just putting it out there... For beginners would you recommend keeping the higher friction wheel/bearing combo for a but while you get your basic balance?

    • @AnnaSudberry
      @AnnaSudberry  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      For me personally it’s harder to skate with wheels and bearings that aren’t as high quality because you could fall due to that alone. You could always keep your wheels a little tighter until you feel comfortable. Personal preference of course, but it might be easier for a beginner to just start out and learn on a great set!

    I really want to get the same set up as you and I have been checking out the comments for the bearings and a lot of them are about how they stop working well after a few months and it’s because they are shieldless. They are really expensive and I really want to be sure about them, is there any proper cleaning or do they need some kind of oil?

    • @AnnaSudberry
      @AnnaSudberry  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I haven't had to clean my bearings at all since buying them. It really is all about WHERE you skate. Don't walk in grass, mud, or EVER in water. Clean as needed using the proper solvents. Keep your bearings dirt-free, moisture free, and lubricated. Water will rust your bearings and dirt will destroy the smoothness of the super finish on your bearing races, increasing friction. These bearings have been way better than stock Lolly bearings!

      It depends on what you plan to do! For you it sounds like that would be a great option as the smaller bunny wheels are better for tricks and dancing. It’s hard with the bigger wheels to do deft movements as they’re so large - meant for speed over long distance.

      Thanks Diana! 🙃 You must put one bearing into each side of the wheel, which would mean two per wheel as there are two sides of a wheel. You have to put two bearings in every single roller skate wheel that exists, so they may have only shown the install on one side. Here’s a helpful article: rollerskatenation.com/bearings-faq/

    How do you install those type of bearings onto the wheels ??

    • @AnnaSudberry
      @AnnaSudberry  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You just use a tool to pull out the old ones and then you push the new ones in! Super easy.

    would you recommend beach bunnies or mollys?

      I haven't tried the bunnies, but the Lolly will be longer lasting in terms of boot material, but they are also less structured. I just got the jack boots and they're worth the investment if you plan to skate a lot. In terms of cost the Lolly does also come with upgraded bearings and wheels, so of you plan to upgrade right away the cost isn't as different as it seems at first glance.

      I have 14 pairs of skates. Definitely Lolly’s for outdoor, Panthers as a cheap park skate, and bunnies if you’re on a budget for outdoor!

    How are the gummies on your beach bunnies? I heard there’s a bolt on the boot that rubs against the larger wheel. Thanks!
