  • Here at Hull York Medical School, it is our people - our students, clinical tutors, staff, and our graduates - that make our School exceptional. We wanted to capture their stories.
In this video, Alexander McNeil - a Medicine graduate and now a Paediatric Trainee and the Chief Registrar at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust - explains his journey to medical school and what sparked his passion for paediatrics as a career.
Alexander explains how the essential skills he developed at Hull York Medical School, including communication, problem solving, professionalism and lifelong learning skills, allow him to deliver exceptional healthcare in paediatrics.

To those who go into medicine, because of a calling and love for this profession. Do not get corrupted by medical dogmas, learn the scientific, but look into holistic and psychological aspects of illnesses. Never let the pay-check be your motivation of going to work. Always work as if God is your employer. We desperately need doctors like these.

I have worked my whole life to get into animation school
After a few months I realised that it wasn’t for me. I have always had an interest in medicine due to my whole family being doctors. After doing research on being pediatrician i decided that’s what I want to be. It’s not gonna be easy but I am gonna give it my all.

Pediatrics is great! Kids are fun, and they usually heal up very quickly.
The problem is that you have to deal with *parents*.
    That’s why I went into Radiology!😅
