Which god? There are hundreds if not thousands of religions, all with their own gods. Not everyone can be right, but everyone can be wrong. Take a critical thinking class
Instead of picking a religion made up by people long ago, start your own. Create a list of things you should/should not do. Don't follow a generalized set of rules, some of which are completely absurd. If you are a good human in the long run, I'm sure that the true god-if there is one-will accept you. If it doesn't accept you, then it is not a god worth worshipping
