Really?? Despite being a good player, I'll always remember him as the coward who attacked that Manchester City player in the middle of a game, basically from behind. The city player had no way of defending himself, no way of seeing him coming. So, Keane was/is too proud for his own good and carried that previous incident with him for 6 months or so, and then, instead of looking his "adversary" in the eyes and confront him face to face, he struck from the shadows, like a coward, while the City player was simply trying to play football. All this because the city player was previously mistaken about Keane pretending to be injured, and then he bragged about his cowardice afterwards, not least in his autobiography.
If he was so set on revenge for this insult he could have confronted him face-to-face, like a straight up, grown man. Fair and square. It baffles me that so few realize how coward that was. Roy Keane speaks a lot, and his demeanor might lead you to think him intimidating, and yet he was clearly so Coward. If that is what you think irish men should aspire to be, or whatnot, well, I can't see it.

We just choose to play different sports. If we all collectively played football/soccer I’ve no doubt we’d be up there.

@@Steaks652 It's not politics. He was etnically British. By your logic, Palestinians are Israelis and vice versa.
In any case, Johnny Giles is the best Irish player ever.

Roy walked out of the Irish squad and country. He said that the Irish football association was poor and said that why did the team have to fly economy while the board of management get to fly first class and why did the players have to train on tarmac. When he left he was seen as a Judas and the country was nearly in a civil war. You had team Roy and team Mick. Lately with the corruption of Delaney and others it seems Roy was right. Pity it took so long for the truth to come out. I wonder what do the people who took sides against Roy think now.

Yes the corruption proves the anti Roy’s wrong.
I was always team Roy because i believed him when he said that the players cane to him complaining and asked him to speak up and when he did the cowards turned their back on him and wouldn’t speak up.
Personally I have experienced this in the work place .
If i was Roy I wouldn’t speak to a single person from that Irish squad .

Keano was way out of order for that Sapian fiasco and deep down he probably regrets not participating in the 2002 World Cup. It was crystal clear all along Keano wasn't in the right frame of mind to play that world cup with his hot headed and volatile behaviour.

@mohillipsgoogle As a Leeds fan I always hated Roy, thought he was a scumbag. But then he got sent home from the world cup and for some reason I found respect for him. What could we have achieved with Roy at the WC is anyone's guess. Tragic.

Keane was the real deal best player, best captain etc, ( Im a Liverpool fan!!) AS for letting down his country ? The rest of the players were pissheads on a holiday and happy wit that. Not one had the balls to stand up even though they knew that everything was shit coach etc. Stand shoulder to shoulder my arse. They let him down
