Best friggin concert I have ever experienced. It was the very last show of a world wide tour and you would have thought it was the first show. The energy was amazing. Bought this 45 (it is a small vinyl record, lol ) in 1973. I still have it. The song was re released in 1975 and the cut was different. This one here is close to the first issue.
Can you imagine the memories the bragging rights those young singers will have for performing with AeroSmith on "Dream On". I know I'd be telling my kids about it.
This is an incredible song and one of my favorites of theirs. This specific performance was not, alas, one of Mr. Tyler's strongest. In top form, he's been known to split the heavens asunder.
If you think Steven Tyler's vocals here are awesome, please listen to the studio version off channel when you can. It was released in 1973 and Tyler was definitely in his prime on the cut.

It's only Steven Tyler and Joe Perry not the whole Aerosmith band. The choir is stunning in adding atmosphere to the song. Brilliant arranging. Definitely my favourite version.
I'm honestly shocked that this song (1971) is new to you. I mean that's great, but wow! Yes, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith is regarded as one of the best rock singer and front men of all time. You know how some people are so good at something and they are considered almost a freak of nature? That's Steven Tyler. He's one of the very few that as he gets older, he can still sing and hit the notes like he did throughout his career. He doesn't need to take the songs a step down like other rockers who still sing into their 50s, 60s, and 70s. That other guy playing guitar.....that's Joe Fuckin' Perry. He's a rock god in his own right. He doesn't get to display it here being how this is setup, but his riffs, rawness, and loud playing is known throughout the rock world and regarded as one of the greats! Both are in their 70s (as is the rest of the band) and they are still going strong. I highly recommend anything by them as they have a collection spanning several decades...in all different forms. Perry Is God.
I realize the video quality is better but I think it's kind of unfair to react to a song for the first time being performed by the band 50 years after it was released. At least react to a live version from the same decade. Not that this performance is bad and it shows just how good they were, but Midnight Special 1974 version would have been better as a first time reaction.
